I absolutely recommend this tour. I had a last-minute trip to Beijing and booked the tour after reading the comments on TripAdvisor. Although pricier than other options, it was worth every penny. My guide, Katherine, was very kind and knowledgeable. She was also a good photographer. She tried her best to accommodate all my requests. She also provided a few snacks once I was done exploring the Great Wall.

What I liked the most was that Katherine not only took me to see the sights and explained the history of each but she also shared many cultural insights about life in China. The whole experience had a soul. It felt real and genuine. She knew exactly where to take me to avoid crowds yet still provide a meaningful experience, e.g., at the Summer Palace.

Before returning to the hotel, Katherine ensured I had everything I needed for my time in Beijing and provided many tips and recommendations. I was very happy!

If you can afford it, do not think twice. This tour is worth it!

This was a great trip and Lucy was a fantastic guide. First of all, Lucy called the hotel the day prior to ensure we were prepared for our tour.

She met us in the lobby of our hotel on the morning of our trip. Once introduced we went out to the vehicle where the driver was waiting.

We were driven to Mutianyu section of the Great Wall - the drive was approx 1 1/2 hours and Lucy spent this time talking to us about the history of China, the Wall and so much more.

Once at the Wall she picked up our tickets for the lift to the top and toboggan ride back down.

We spent a few hours exploring the wall all the way to guardpost 1 and back towards guardpost 20.

Once we were done we took the toboggan down, loaded the car and went to lunch about 20 minutes away.

We had an amazing, traditional Chinese lunch experience. Lucy asked if we had any food allergies or objections to sharing a traditional meal - we did not have issues or objections.

We shared dishes of pork, beef, chicken and dumplings and all of us thought it was fresh and delicious.

After lunch we continued our drive to the Summer Palace where we walked with Lucy for 1.5 hours throughout the grounds of the Summer Palace. Again Lucy spent the entire time talking to us about the history and culture of this site.

On our return to the hotel we were able to stop briefly for a view of several buildings from the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

We had a fantastic time touring these sites and would highly recommend Lucy - she’s prompt, polite, extremely knowledgeable and very nice.

I was in Beijing a day early ahead of a business trip and decided it was finally time to see the Great Wall after many years of never finding the opportunity. As I only had a day, and was visiting China only shortly after reopening following the pandemic, I wanted to find an option that would maximize time and convenience, as well as provide a rewarding experience. This trip delivered everything and more. Booking was convenient and made in advance through Tripadvisor online with a foreign credit card. Hotel pickup was timely and efficient, and my guide Catherine, who spoke excellent English and was well-educated in the history of the attractions, went above and beyond in sharing background and stories related to the Great Wall and the Summer Palace. The included lunch was a pleasant bonus - definitely not the standard tourist fair in a mediocre restaurant, but a delicious multi-course meal at a local restaurant far away from the tourist traps and catering to my own preferences as well. 5/5 stars and would highly recommend Catherine in particular as a guide, who made the experience highly enjoyable and memorable.

We had an exceptional day trip at The Geat Wall and Summer Palace! The private tour was well organized! Our tour guide, Lucy, explained a lot about China's history while we wallk along the paths of the Great Wall and the Summer Palace. These two scenic spots are exhilarating and very beautiful! We went a day after it snowed so the snow added beauty to the Great Wall! :) The lunch we had was really good too!! This tour is great for families with kids as the ski lift going up and the toboggan going down The Great Wall were really fun!!!

My 6-year old daughter said, "This is the best day ever!"

I booked this private tour with the excellent Lucy. It was amazing, she has a lot of knowledge, and she is not the typical guide rushing you. I had enough time to take pictures and to enjoy the visit. The experience was as good as I booked the tour to the Great Wall (Jinshaling) for the following day. This was the best idea; I was alone on the Great Wall. We could hike as far as we wanted, and at the same time, she told me lots of details about Chinese history. I am not going to forget this tour. I have travelled a lot around the world, and this was one of the best experiences in my life. So if you want to have a great time, definitely, you must book a tour with Lucy!!! Thanks!!!!

Autumn is the best time of year to be outside in Beijing so I decided to check out the Summer Palace and Temple of Heaven since they’re both all outdoors. My guide was Anson again (I had him for the Forbidden City tour) and he was just as awesome and knowledgeable as last time. The driver also spoke great English and both communicated really well from when I booked the tour until it was over. Overall great time and highly recommended.

Beijing is a beautiful city. Full of life and character. City was clean and people were friendly. Do not take pictures of military personelle. Well worth the visit to the square.

This tour was exceptional. Qing was very knowledgeable and funny. We enjoyed listening to her a lot, as she did not talk about the historic events as a series of numbers. She rather told stories.

I live in Beijing. I booked this private tour to escape the city for a few hours and it was just what I expected. Qing and her driver picked me up from the city centre at 8:30am and we arrived to Longqing Gorge about 2 hours later. I was surprised to see that it was not as busy as I thought it would be for a Saturday. Most visitors were Beijingers looking to enjoy a break from the city as well.

First we went up the Dragon Escalator to reach the top of the dam. From there we hopped on a boat to enjoy the cruise along the gorge. The scenery was very beautiful and Qing explained the different rock formations that could be seen. This was my favorite part of the trip and I wished the boat ride was longer. When we got off the boat there were several activities available: bungee jumping, canoeing, zip lining. We hiked up the hill to visit the quiet and beautiful Diamond Temple, the smell of incense burning was lovely. The second boat trip took us back to the cable car, which took us to the other side of the gorge where we hiked many steps to reach the highest point for views. Unfortunately, the sky was a little hazy, but on a clear day the views from above would have been spectacular. Qing was lovely! She was happy to take breaks when I got tired and we had interesting conversations about Chinese culture.

On our way back, we had lunch at a small, family-run restaurant near the Dragon Escalator. Qing ordered some tasty dishes for us and we enjoyed a quiet lunch. Again, the place was not busy at all. The owner of the restaurant was very kind to drive us back down to the entrance of the gorge (where our driver was waiting for us), which I appreciated very much because it would have otherwise been a 15-minute walk in the heat on a full stomach.

Qing is a very cheerful, friendly and knowledgeable guide who made this visit very nice. I enjoyed my day trip out of Beijing and I would recommend it to anyone looking for something new to see on the city outskirts.
