Morning Mubus Tour to the Mutianyu Great Wall

894 reviews
The Great Wall of China is an ancient fortification, more than 13,000 miles (21,000 kilometers) in length—it’s also China’s top attraction. Parts of the wall are in poor condition or else crowded with visitors. But, on this guided tour, you get to visit the quieter, under-the-radar Mutianyu section, which has also undergone a complete restoration.

We had some time to spare so decided to visit the library. There are a lot of exhibition halls with exhibitions of ancient Chinese literature. It was quite spectacular to see the old writings, book and interactive screens unfortunately there is not much English to explain what you are looking at. I would still recommend going to see the library as it is one of the biggest in the world, there is no entrance fee and it is easy to get to as the subway station is right next to the entrance.

I went there cos I was attracted by the building, it is a good piece of architecture. The library was designed by the German company KSP Engel & Zinnermann. It is spacious, having plenty of light, and most importantly the collection. Visitors have to pass through security inspection when they enter, and if you want to go inside, you have to show your identity card or passport for registration. I was interested at the Children's library, however, the rule is only children accompanied by one adult can enter the library, that means, adult alone is not allowed to enter, nor both adults cannot accompany their child

the library is a modern one, with several floors hoarding many books. the drawback was the seats are always full. you need an id to get into here.

This wouldn't be top of many must see lists. But it's well worth the effort. It's a huge beautiful building. Lots of exhibitions there about archeology and literature and art etc. It's clean and cool. Good place to sit and relax. Must store your bag in the luggage section downstairs. And no drinks allowed. Metro station line 4 National Library
