Using the word 'great' would be an understatement. This two day trip was amazing!! The guides Yao and Wang Bin were very down to earth and friendly. They treated us to some excellent Chinese food throughout the entire trip and were very helpful every step of the way. They helped us set up camp at a quiet location right next to the wall which included a campfire and dinner. Over the afternoon and the next day we trekked along the wall seeing a plethora of stunning views and ancient ruins. At most we saw 6 people along the way so it was a very intimate experience. Our last stop before heading back down the mountain was the Sky Stairs (as seen in the photos). It was optional to climb but we highly recommend that you tackle it as you are rewarded with expansive views and a great sense of achievement. Once we returned to the farmhouse (which we also visited before we ascended) we were greeted with another banquet of traditional Beijing cuisine and provided with a hotel or airport drop off. We would both highly recommend this tour to anyone who is visiting Beijing and wants an experience that feels more genuine than the main tourist spots of the wall.

My family and I had an amazing experience day-hiking the Great Wall at Jiankou with Wang Bin and Yao on a recent vacation - by far the highlight of our time in China! After we were introduced to them by a mutual friend, Wang Bin and Yao helped us arrange a day-trip to the wall that suited our travel itinerary. They met us at our hotel in the morning and then we drove north of Beijing into the mountains, where we ate a delicious feast of local food at an inn near the trailhead to fuel up for our hike. It would have been worth traveling to that village just for the food! Shortly after lunch, we walked up a steep trail through the forest to the wall itself. It is an amazing sight to see, stretched along steep the mountain ridgeline. When we reached the wall, we first hiked east to one of many large lookout towers, then changed directions and hiked west before descending from the wall hours later, late in the evening, and hiking back to the trailhead. For most of the day, we had the wall to ourselves, only encountering a few other day hikers and one trekking club setting out on a multi-day trip. It was fascinating to hear commentary on the wall and nearby area from Wang Bin and Yao, and very interesting to experience this rugged section of the wall in its current unrestored condition. It is definitely a challenging hike! Some pitches were very steep with loose stones and rocks, so you'll enjoy this trip best if you're fit and ready for an adventure. Towards the end of the hike, we reached one newly restored section of the wall. With our legs starting to tire at the end of the day, it was a nice breather to walk on the new section - much smoother than the old ruins, although just as steep in some places! - and cool to see what the rest of the wall would have looked like when it had just been built. Wang Bin and Yao are both super friendly and a lot of fun - excellent guides for a day in the mountains and great people to meet! They were also kind to recommend some good restaurants near our hotel in Beijing when we returned to the city that night. Wish we had enough time on this trip to go on their two-day hike, and cannot recommend hiking with them enough. It was an absolutely outstanding experience and will be a lifelong memory for our family!

Amazing! My wife and I took our two children (age 9 & 7) on this adventure and it was simply incredible. Wang Bin and Yao were extremely friendly, knowledgeable and attentive to our needs throughout every part of our trip; from the airport pickup, to lunch at a farm house, the hike and camping - they were fantastic. The gear provided was in great condition and Wang Bin brought up ample food/drinks so that Yao could make a wonderful meal with wine. Waking up in the morning to the sun rising over the Great Wall of China is something my family and I will never forget! This was our favorite thing we have ever done in China! The lovely couple were great with our kids too! If you are wanting to see the Great Wall, then you must try them out!

We have a great time going to camp and spend the night by one of the guard towers in this section of the "wild wall." It was great - there were no crowds, most of the time my group of 4 were the only ones on sections of the wall. It was absolutely beautiful. Sunrise over the wall was amazing. The folks at Great Wall Sensation did a great job at making everything seamless, easy and awesome. Sam was our tour guide, he's American and spoke great mandarin, which made the entire experience great.

There are tonnes of Great Wall tours on offer and we'd trawled through a bunch of them before stumbling across Great Wall Sensation. Our Great Wall tour was out of this world - everything was well planned without feeling overly structured, we were free to gambol over the crumbling bits of wall to our heart's content, and best of all we had the whole place virtually to ourselves! Camping beside an old guard tower beside the Wall, making s'mores with a glass of Great Wall wine in hand will definitely remain a highlight of my time in China! Wake up early to catch the sunrise over the Wall - you won't regret it. Thanks Yao and her team for their quick responses and for showing us the hidden gems of the Jiankou Great Wall.
