About
This sleek plaza—a favorite of expats and hip locals—is ringed with shops. Though there are many Western labels like Sandro and Nike, there are also plenty of homegrown brands like i.t. and The Beast.

Came here with some friends for dinner. The area was nicely decorated for Christmas and the cool chill of December evening gave it a nice romantic feel.

This is a place for dining and shopping. It has a good mix of international and local cuisine. We went to a Spanish restaurant and the food was really good.

Before arriving in China we had all the expected prejudices: Maoism, dull outfits, uniformity, grey colors, but also red everywhere, red flags, red books, stern faces, police everywhere...

How WRONG we were, how far we were from China of today.

And Sanlitun Village is the quintessence of this reality we discovered there.
Nothing there is whatsoever connected to what we thought would be China.
Pubs, modern restaurants, branches of Starbuck, Mc Donald's, KFC, Subway or any other western chain, top gear brands like Adidas, Nike, an endless suite of modern top of the class stores, eateries....
Truly London, New York or any other western country capital...
So if you like this atmosphere this is the place for you.

Actually it wasn't for us so we decided to leave early, around 11pm.

The only problem was ...to find a cab...

None in sight !

And when finally we had the luck to find one, the driver refused to take us back to our hotel.
It soon became a nightmare...we were stuck there !!!
Until risking perhaps if not my life but certainly an injury I had to burst into the middle of the traffic till the 3rd line to stop a taxi and ask him to take us.
Apparently my resolute kamikaze look (I prefer to think it was this look and not one of despair) did the impossible and he agreed to take us... Saved !

Of course then an impossible traffic to our hotel, the Lido with jams stuffing all 4 lines everywhere ...We reached our hotel well after midnight...

Bottom line ?
Sanlitun may be for you, young people, but certainly not for us ;-)

Taikoo Li Sanlitun is close to both Subway Line 2 Dongsi Shitiao Station and Line 10 Tuanjiehu Station, with the later nearer about 10 mins walk. Along the way we noted that it is a diplomatic expat neighborhood just nearby. This is like a must-visit place when we plan our itinerary.. many reviews.
Full of modern new Shopping centers there’s lots of top brand to choose from. Nice restaurants and cafes abound located at 2 different floors one plus a smaller basement level.. You can find all the established coffee chains of Costa, Pacific Coffee, Starbucks etc too. There is a great selection of good restaurants, trendy bars, Shopping-wise there are the usual international brands and some Chinese ones
While not comparable to cities/places like Shinjuku or Bangkok downtime it is definitely a glitzy place to shop here in Beijing, to see & be seen. We came once in the Day and the other at Night, so saw the pretty neon lights and some light illumination..
It's a touristic place and great for people-watch. Come feel the vibes too..

We went there to find the famous Mutekiya Japanese Ramen restaurant. This open concept, modern shopping mall is beautiful, recommended to visit at night. Do not expect to find souvenirs or local stores as most of the shops are of international brands.

Love the urban design and connectivity of this place - it shows how successful China had reinvented their commercial shopping district into a fun place where young professionals hang out after work. There is a street with all the bars and hip joints right next to the shopping malls. While most things here are too expensive for my liking, I enjoyed the walk and browsing of different stores. Great place to chill and have a cup of coffee in a cafe and do some people watching as they hurried along the street in front of the cafe.

if youre looking for local things and all then this is not the place. it carries all the big western brands so to us it wasnt worth the extra trip going here. plus it was cold that night and they have a partially outdoor concept!i would imagine it would be a nicer walk here in summer.

but overall not worth making the extra trip here unless you are in the neighbourhood

It won't remind you that you are in Beijing, as every turn you make you see American or French, or another European brand rather than Chinese. it is equivalent to a medium level mall in the US however plays a much important role for expats and Chinese alike.

Open mall with plenty of shops and restaurants, across the road from the SOHO. Nice to walk around in the evening. If you are looking for designer shops and brands like H&M , Uniqlo etc.. this is the place. There are many places to eat both western restaurants or Asian.

This is like a bigger version of shanghai's xintiandi. Fronted by giant uniqlo and addidas buildings, there are many other shops inside. There are many luxury shops too. And an Apple store. And many restaurants. Good for a browse and i don't buy stuff in china as they have a higher price
