The aquarium is inside the zoo and you need to pay for zoo pass first. It was so busy and overcrowded that it ruined the whole experience. Otherwise it seemed like a mediocre aquarium. We also went to the show with orcas, dolphins and a sea lion. The show was decent but not really worth the wait. It's not like a show.you would see at Sea World but more of a collection of tricks they taught the animals.

This aquarium is found inside the Beijing Zoo Complex (you get entry to the zoo and pandas with your aquarium ticket) and we found it to be very good, as good as any I have been to in the west. Ticket prices (at least for China) are pretty high - around £12 I think and they refused to honour a Chinese-University student card, but I felt they offered good value for money overall, definitely in comparison to my local aquarium in Plymouth. The aquarium is pretty huge - it is divided up into 7 sections, all of which are for different types and species of fish and also larger sea creatures. They are all good and all of the fish had ample sized tanks. The place was very clean and all of the animals looked well. I would happily head here again for a couple of hours if I was in Beijing and would recommend.

Looks like a pretty decent and new aquarium but after 10 minutes of fighting the crowds and getting a headache from constant noise, aided and abetted by loud music and amplified Beluga whale screams, I was ready to leave.

Was 9 am on a Sunday, so perhaps weekdays better.

I went to the Beijing Aquarium because it was recommended in my travel guide. After paying 120 RMB which is really not cheap for Beijing, I started Walking around. The whole interior looked old and not very well mantained. The bathrooms very dirty and smelly.
The worst part for me was to see Beluga whales and dolphins in really small pools. Furthermore in bigger fish tanks sometimes one animal e.g. a lobster was placed in a small see-through plastic box in the middle of the basin so that people can take a better look. Probably I am spoilt as I have visited some big and renowned Aquariums with a strong educational aspect and with Research facilities, but what I saw in Beijing Aquarium was certainly animal cruelty.

I personally would not recommend anybody to go there. It is worn-down, not appropriate for the species living there, over priced and in my opinion only suitable for Chinese speakers. The staff only spoke Chinese and also all the Information was exclusively in Chinese.

I visited the Beijing aquarium last winter and thought the facility was less than desirable. One of the most appalling attractions is the sea turtle inclosure. Countless people can reach in a grab/pull the turtles fins. It was so sad seeing adults and children abusing a defenseless creature. Also, the beluga whale was in a very small tank as were the dolphins. I would never visit this attraction again and I do not encourage you to.

The aquarium is located at the back of Beijing zoo. You must pay the entrance to the zoo (40 CNY at time of visit), walk through the zoo then pay a separate entrance fee to the aquarium (150 CNY).

The aquarium is a relatively new building so all the exhibits are modern and visually appealing. They have everything from small tropical fish to eels to jellyfish to dolphins to sharks and everything in between. There are several floor to ceiling tanks that toddlers and young children can get right up close to in order to see all the fish.

In the middle of the aquarium is a large central area where you can use the washroom, buy snacks, play arcade games and buy souvenirs. Kids are welcome to run around here and let off some steam.

I took my 11 month old son in his stroller. It was relatively easy to push him around with most ramps clearly marked. I couldn't find a baby change area so I changed him on the floor in a corner. No one minded. He and I both had a great time. I would definitely recommend it to families with young children.

I do like the city but at times it’s just too chaotic. During our visit to the Beijing Aquarium, we thankfully enjoyed our visit because people weren’t pushy and loud. I think the price tag deters the crowds, especially the ones that behave in an uncivilized manner. We paid a whole lot more for the Aquarium at Lotte World in Seoul and that place was a joke.

When my colleagues suggested we go to the Aquarium I initially had told them no thanks! We’ve been to the Beijing Zoo and I’d thought I’d never visit a Chinese location with animals. I felt heart sick after we left the Beijing Zoo. They told me this would be different so I inquired and thanks to the reviews from TripAdvisor, we decided to go.

After visiting the Monterrey Bay Aquarium in California, nothing is quite the same but for China, this place was far superior to anything I’ve seen. The place is not old, the fish and other aquatic life are well cared for and treated with respect. The show was ok but could have been better but then again when you think of where you are, it’s not bad. If we had kids, this would be a totally cool place I’d definitely consider again. Even the snacks were pretty tasty and that’s not typical at these kinds of places.

I am 40 but felt like kid. It was a good decision to go there as it's BIG in Chinese meaning but this time it means something really big. Worth to go there no matter how old are you.

The beluga tank is heartbreaking, obviously most people are oblivious to the intelligent animal who's pathetic home they're banging on, simply seeing it as an exhibit. It's disgusting. As previously discussed by another poster, the open water sea turtle tank is grim as children are touching and grabbing the already repressed creature.also the dolphinarium is horrible and seeing the shows is supporting cruelty. Please, spend the 120RMB on something like the Forbidden City, don't support this horror.

Our group of 24 was not overly impressed with this attraction. It was the least favorite venue we visited on our trip.

Once you visit the Atlanta Aquarium, there is no need to visit this one. It was not clean! The touristy stands took away from the real purpose of the visit. There were a couple of nice exhibits but nothing that could be termed as "great." The jellyfish exhibit was the best of the exhibits.

Only visit this attraction if you just "need" to do something for about two hours. It is not worth the price of admission. There are much better things to do in Beijing with your time.
