We visited this section of the Wall on a semi-private tour with China Highlights, during our cruise with Holland America. We weren't sure we were going to make it due to the mother of all traffic jams on the road leading here, so our time was very limited once we got there. But it was incredible. Nice cable car up,... Awesome experience for the family.. but I suggest calling ahead to make sure the slide is open.. it had snowed the night before making the slide too wet and dangerous.. I was very disappointed but still had a great time walking the wall.

Visited this part of the wall with a group booked via our hotel. 1.5 hours to reach it. As others have mentioned, beautiful site and sight. We had the option to upgrade to include ming's tomb in our tour. Give the tomb a miss, unless you have a real passion for chinese history and museum visits. We paid 100RMB for... More

I've been to Badaling and Mutianyu and can honestly say that this part is by far the best of the two: it's newer and well-maintained, less crowded, offers spectacular views, has a toboggan slide and is only 30 km from the iconic Ming Tombs.

Beautiful part of The Great Wall to visit. A little expensive if your in a big group as there is a shuttle bus and tram fee to pay.

On a private tour we got to the Wall early to beat the rush of the tour buses. That is the way to do it then you can have sections of the Wall almost all to your selves. We took the cable car (cabins) up and down the Wall. Very safe and comfortable way to do it. There are also... More

This location is not as busy as other locations and is about an hour and a half to two hours out of Beijing. The Wall is on the top of a 1,000 meter foothills. So, the cable car or chair lift were well worth the money. You want to save your energy for the Wall itself. This section of the... More

I have been to the Grade Wall a few times, once to Badaling and now twice to Mutianyu. I have to say I like both of them. Both of my other visits were in the summer when it was hot and humid, somewhat hazy, and overrun with tourists. This time I visited in November, with crisp, clear air and spectacular... More

Arranged a tour through a guide company from tripadvisor and it was amazing. Went to the least busiest area which was perfect. Wall is amazing and history unbelievable. Would recommend to everyone but remember that there is a lot of climbing and steep stairs involved. Ride the toboggan run down to the bottom afterwards
