Took a private driver and went there on a sunday morning. Make sure you arrive there latest 08 o'clock - take the first gondola and on the top turn left and walk for 2-3 kilometers...at this time of the day, very little people around and you can really feel the magic of this place. At around 10 o'clock the tour... More

Walked and climbed around for 3 hours. Breathtaking scenery, could scarcely believe our eyes. Went on a Monday in mid-April, so crowds were low and weather was perfect.Take the toboggan sled down. :-)

Our hotel organised a driver to take us from Beijing Hutong area to Mutianya. Was surprised how organised everything was and thoroughly enjoyed the cable car trip to the start of walking area. Wasn't as many people as expected and the further we walked the less they became. Amazing scenery and easy walking but wear comfy shoes and bring a... More

I booked a trip to Mutyanyu, which is one of the areas of the Great Wall, for me and 3 friends. I called John expecting to have some communication difficulties but it was actually pretty easy. His English is very good and he is also very supportive and friendly. He had already some trip scheduled for the day We wanted... More

This place is absolutely amazing. The great wall is a definite must see if you are in Beijing. This place seems less crowded and there are some great scenery. Go left if you want more flat terrain. Go right if you are fit for a challange.

If you are in Beijing this is a must! With a organized tour it takes about 90 minutes to get here. Once at the entrance you have the choice to take either a cable car or climb 2000 steps. Since there is a lot of climbing still while you are up I would recommend to spend the 100CYN extra for... More

I've not been to Badaling, but I cant say enough positive things about Mutianyu. The weather was perfect and the views spectacular. Be aware though, to truly see this site in all its splendor, you have to walk up a very long and very steep section of the wall. I wasn't sure I'd make it all the way but I... More

Arrived here early in the morning and went upto the wall by gondola. Last area of this section of the wall to the left as you look at it from bottom is very steep with uneven steps. Shops selling souvenirs and places to eat are at the bottom as well as the squat style toilets

As per my title, no words for this attraction, of course a must see in China and more in particular in Beijing, but be prepared to a long and tough walk/climb, We did in the heat of August but luckily the sky was overcast, so tey to choose the roght season and climate and enjoy this unique place
