There is a good variety of things to do and see here. Lakes are pretty. The hutongs are interesting. The restaurants are a plenty. The shops are fun. You're also right by the drum and bell towers so you can climb their steps to get a nice view of the city. Great place to munch on a variety of interesting... More

There are many bars, shops. it's a good place to explore. take a walk and see the view of the lake. It's pretty cool cuz there is a boat ride that brings you under the bridge. prefer to coming here in summer tho. 这个地方很适合散散步, 可以绕着后海走, 旁边还有很多酒吧,白天很少有开的,晚上会比较热闹尤其是在暖的季节。有游船提供, 可以坐在上面绕湖一圈,从桥下面穿过。

The Hou Hai houses should be mandatory to visit in Beijing. Each bar has mostly Western music sang in chinese or in plain English. Although is more expensive, the experience is worth it. Allow a couple of hours and get there around 7 or later. Full of shops and street vendors. Also, full of people learning salsa or tango in... More

This is one of the more bustling areas of the city. Would recommend going a bit before the sunsets as watching the sunset over the water is quite nice. Lots of nice restaurants around the area too.

I went to Beijing in May 2016 on business. I have been to China over 50 times in the past ten years. Hou Hai is a lake surrounded by shops and restaurants. It is a bit difficult to get to by subway. You can walk there from Bei Hai as it is across the street. Otherwise I recommend taking a... More

Visited the area as our hotel is nearby. We went on a nice cold evening which made the experience more pleasant I think. The area is filled with restaurants, bars and little cute shops. We were here at around dinner time and most of the bars were still empty (which did not bother us as we did not visit the... More
