We were collected from our hotel promptly as requested on Christmas day. We were then driven through the snow to Mutianyu in total silence. Arriving at the underground car park we followed the driver to the ticket office where he arranged the cable car tickets and gave us a 'very' brief overview of the wall i.e. which tower to walk back to. We were then pointed in the direction of the bus that ran to the cable car and left to our own devices, arranging to meet him three hours later. The morning on the wall was fantastic in the snow on Christmas day. However, this was not a private tour with English speaking driver. This was a glorified taxi with a driver that spoke some English, and an expensive one at that. We stayed at a five star hotel in Beijing and they would have charged less for the hotel car and driver for five hours.

We're so sorry about the sub-par guide you had for this trip. You deserve and should have enjoyed much more than "a very brief overview" of the wall. We're glad that you were still able to enjoy your morning on the wall and found it "fantastic.' This driver help you buy tickets and show you the Cable car and chair lift and toboggan satation. We have other Mutianyu Wall private tour with English speaking tour guide, the guide will hiking with you on Wall and let you some Funny stories. that is option better for you.

We had an excellent day visit to Simatai with our guide, May. Although we weren’t interested in visiting Gubei, it was very pretty to walk through and we enjoyed trying street food on the way back. We took the cable car and then walked to the top point on Simatai. It was absolutely stunning and at one point we had it all to ourselves! May was very helpful and friendly throughout the day, and also gave us a lovely welcome calligraphy as well as taking us to a tea house on the way back. Mark was very responsive when booking by email in advance. We would definitely recommend his driver and driver & guide service, and would use it again if we were to return!

Mark was great coordinating my trip in Beijing. I had flight delays and with last minute notice he was kindly able to rearrange my pick up from the airport. The driver was on time all scheduled days. The private tour to the Great Wall and other tour sites was wonderful with his English speaking driver. Sorry can't remember his name. I would highly recommend Mark for any future travels in Beijing. He will make your trip stress free.Thank you again. Rita!

We were picked up at 7am by Bruce in a nice Toyota sedan. The drive to the wall was relaxing with some information from Bruce given. Bruce answered any questions we had, but otherwise focused on the driving. He stopped off to give us some water. We arrived at the wall around 8.30am, This was the best part because nobody was there. Even the workers were just arriving !! We got the cable car up to the wall. Bruce walked with us and took some photos of us, then he let us walk on our own. There was no one on the wall !! Took some amazing photos before anyone else showed up, so I thoroughly recommend leaving early. Bruce arranged to meet us in a cafe after we were done. No pressure on time at all. We spent a couple of hours on the wall then took the toboggan down. Great time. Parts of the wall are steep so be prepared for a work out. No special shoes required.
