Morning Mubus Tour to the Mutianyu Great Wall

894 reviews
The Great Wall of China is an ancient fortification, more than 13,000 miles (21,000 kilometers) in length—it’s also China’s top attraction. Parts of the wall are in poor condition or else crowded with visitors. But, on this guided tour, you get to visit the quieter, under-the-radar Mutianyu section, which has also undergone a complete restoration.

Not sure this is the same one that we saw, but if you have an opportunity see The Legend of Kungfu. Energetic presentation that follows a small boy who becomes a master and reached his goal of enlightenment.

Booked through China Highlights, theater in need of repair/upgrade (to include the toilet facilities), but the actors/athletes more than made up for it. Strength, agility, daredevil acts, beauty. We went with our 11-year old and I saw several kids there his age who clapped several times throughout. Recommend.

The musical flow from act to act was poorly executed. The shifts were disjointed and jarring. Overall the performances were ok. Nothing spectacular compared with other troupes I have experienced.

I had been to an acrobatic show in Beijing before. This one was less professional, the theatre grubby, we were the only westerners there, we booked through a Tours4fun. The show etarted with a lengthy introduction in Chinese, and then a calligraphy display. All very boring and no idea what was going on. When the acts started they were quite good, lots of balancing acts. There were three standout acts, a young man balancing on a moving board, two young men on a revolving cage and the last act. SIX motorcycles chasing each other around in a cage. Very scary. It was interesting but lacked any atmosphere.

On a private tour, our guide offered to book us tickets to this show. At a price of 380rmb each for VIP tickets, it wasn’t cheap but we decided that it would be an interesting show to see. Our guide helped us to our seats and told us where to meet our driver afterwards. The venue was older and reminiscent of an old movie theater. The show began and the introduction was 100% in Chinese followed by a calligraphy demonstration that was also narrated in Chinese. This went on for about 15 minutes. The show demonstrated some wonderful feats of acrobatics and interesting performances. Costumes and lighting / stage decorations were nice. The sound and music appeared staggered at times (light someone manually pushing the button to switch to the next song). The final act is incredible. Overall, we had a very nice time and would recommend it for the experience and theatrics. It’s an hour well spent and a unique experience.
