You have to do this! The cooking class is fantastic & the food is just delicious. We also got horrendously lost on our way (taxi issues!) and, rather than cancel our booking or charge us, two staff were dispatched to find us and bring us to the right address! Coco is a great host who speaks excellent English- she is... More

Our cooking class with Coco and Chef Wong was simply wonderful. I am a beginner in cooking though my fiancé is quite skilled already. They accommodated this very well. Coco was very helpful and is such a kind and bubbly person. Our class was the Baozi class and we enjoyed the food so much that we had the leftovers for... More

I did the cooking class and it was amazing. The instructions were very clear, and the instructor is patient and if you have questions can answer them. The food is delicious, and it’s really great to feel like I have a solid base for expanding my Chinese cooking skills. I had a great time, and I definitely think it’s worth... More

Black Sesame was a highlight on our trip. Coco was a great hostess! The place is not that hard to find- just study a map before you get there and be sure to give your taxi driver the address that Coco can provide you. We prepared 3 dishes- Fried Shitake Mushrolms, Chonqing Spicy Chicken and Pepper beef. All were delicious-... More

We went to the shared dinner on Christmas Day. It was great food and great company. Coco made us feel so welcome. Would highly recommend going. One of the best meals in Beijing

I first went here with a friend for my first cooking class and went back recently with my husband for the dumpling-making class. We had 8 people and learned to make the dough and how to roll it out. Then we chopped the ingredients for two different fillings and made our dumplings. One batch was pan fried and the other... More

This class is limited to about 10 people and well worth it to learn the science of Chinese cooking. This is not an advanced class but a great intro to Chinese ingredients and wok cooking. You are given a syllabus with ingredient information, recipes, and an apron. Each participant is given a cutting board and cleaver. You are taught how... More

Visited this place in Nov 2013 after having seen it on a TV cooking show where the chef of the show visited Black Sesame Kitchen. Was a little tricky to find in it's previous location, but a very interesting walk back afterwards through the area. A great experience for tourists to try a variety of dishes while watching the kitchen... More

They do not offer cooking classes anymore- just dinner. The dinner was a 2.5 hour communal dinner starting at 7pm and consisting of 10 courses. The food was interesting and mostly, very good. Wine was included in the price. The cost was about $50. It was fun to meet other travelers and enjoy new Chinese food together. This restaurant cannot... More
