About
Badaling ancient the Great Wall, located five kilometers southwest of the Badaling Great Wall, is the west gate of the Badaling Great Wall's defense system. It's beautiful and suitable for exploring and playing at home. If you are a backpacker, it will be a pity to miss your trip to China. After all, not every the Great Wall is an ancient the Great Wall.

As you would expect the Great Wall is very Impressive where ever you see it, this location, best way up is the chairlift, it is not wheelchair friendly at the top and the climb is very steep, you will need a moderate level of fitness, weekends are very crowded you would need to be there early, best time is during the week

Went here with a tour company called Botrip as they do a tour that allows you to restore part of the Badging wall. I've visited both Mutianyu and Badaling and both have different aspects that I like. I felt like I got better, authentic photos at Badaling and it was not as busy with tourists. The restoration experience was amazing and you felt part of something special knowing that part of your effort has gone in to keeping the wall alive!

had the wall to ourselves pretty much, and it was SPECTACULAR! Really was a highlight, if you have the opportunity I highly recommend skipping the touristy sections and to come here.

The last time I visited this section is becoming very busy! It snowed the day we went and the snow gave the wall a glimpse into what the conditions could have been in the 1300's when the wall was being built. Most days it is cloudy or sunny, so a rare snap shot. This is my favorite section of the wall since it has some uphill hiking but also some areas that are easier for everyone to enjoy. The cable car makes the start of the trip a wonderful overview of the grandeur of the wall.

The walk on this part of the wall is a must for the visitors escaping the crowds. It is a challenging walk but well worth with amazing views of this ancient monument of the human endurance.

This section of the great wall is less frequented by tourists especially in the off season, like Winter. There are no cool rides or slides, or cable cars but this segment of the wall feels a little more raw. On Christmas Day 2015 I walked for hours hours without seeing anyone. It was a tough hike but I stopped a lot for photos. I would recommend taking a bus and taxi or private car if you can to get to this section rather than taking a Badaling Wall tour and ending up with holiday photos full of strangers.

We had a tour booked with China Holidays (guide Tanya was excellent) and it was last week so there was snow! It was absolutely treacherous, but we went prepared as though we were tackling an icy mountain and that felt exactly like what we were doing! We only managed to walk to the fourth gate in the two hours we had, but with the blue sky and sunshine, we saw enough to understand the impact of the Great Wall. We had to literally slide back down and just held onto the rail. It was unforgettable and well worth the trip. I didn't get my phone out for photos. It was freezing and the phone froze, but did take some stunning ones with digital camera.
It wasn't busy so end of November is a good time to go, but wear suitable clothes.

A truly remarkable place to visit. Standing on the wall in a temperature of around minus 15 degrees C, it hard to imagine what life was like for those who had to work and sleep in such conditions. The wall follows the highest contours of every hill, so the enemy could not stone them from above, and stretches as far as the eye can see in both directions.

Great Wall - Great View, Great Experience. Quite approachable from Beijing, can be experienced if one has 3-4 hrs time even in the afternoon.
