Morning Mubus Tour to the Mutianyu Great Wall

894 reviews
The Great Wall of China is an ancient fortification, more than 13,000 miles (21,000 kilometers) in length—it’s also China’s top attraction. Parts of the wall are in poor condition or else crowded with visitors. But, on this guided tour, you get to visit the quieter, under-the-radar Mutianyu section, which has also undergone a complete restoration.

Dongsi mosque is near to Dongsi subway station. It is 20 minutes walk to Wanfujing area. If you walk south along Dongsi South street, the mosque is at your right hand side. It is located between shops selling clothes, shoes etc. There are hostel, hypermart and halal restaurant nearby.

Went there for Friday prayers - not me but two work colleagues - i just nipped in to have a look. Very big PRC flag and flagpole in the compound. The main prayer hall is at the end and is richly decorated inside. The mosque is supposed to be 900 years old and my colleagues noted how quiet it was. Its close to Dongsi metro Station (line 5 and 6) and is accurate on the trip adviser map.

It is located very near to subway. We were lost at the beginning as there was no signage whatsoever indicating it is a mosque. Place was very quite. When the 1st door was opened then only we saw signages of the mosque. Very big compound and place is very well-kept. Many buildings around but were closed. We went to the end that is the main building for prayer. Huge hall with great pillars and beautiful carpet. Peaceful place.

From the outside it doesn't look like a mosque and there are no english signs showing that it is a mosque. However, when you enter inside , you will see arabic ( quranic) scriptures and a sign that says dongsi east mosque. I went during the time where there was no prayer and the mosque was empty. Friendly staff and beautiful mosque . Worth visiting if you want to see a mix of islamic and chinese culture .
