Almost no activity anymore. Not worth the visit anymore
Sep 2017 • Solo
I visited once in 2015, was interesting. Now all the local vendors have disappeared. Apparently not allowed anymore. Only a few shops remain probably not for long.
Not really interesting anymore.

a market set in a temple
May 2016 • Solo
It's directly accessible from Guang'anmennei metro station on line 7. It's a temple, but does not function as such. No worshipers, no incense and no monks. It's a market set in a temple. I went on a Wednesday, only the indoor vendors were selling. From previous posts, Saturday brings many more vendors that lay their goods in the open air courtyard of the temple. Mostly jade, broken porcelain, coins, etc. You can find similar at the Panjiayuan market.

More Interesting than Panjiayuan
My local tour guide Peter Zhao suggested we start our day here instead of Panjiayuan on a Saturday of tourism. This is more scenic and picturesque than Panjiayuan, with more locals and more local prices. Great place to buy cheap trinkets, broken pottery, and collectibles from stamps to ticket stubs as souvenirs. Things seemed to be realistically priced. Not sure if this opens as early as Panjiayuan which i have visited while up early and jetlagged. I was only Westerner there and enjoyed it.
