Nice little museum, lots of fossils, along with some larger skeletons of dinosaurs and some paleo mammals for the kids to look at.
Get off at the Southwest exit of Beijing Zoo station and walk 200-300 metres west for the entrance.
Entry fee is only 10RMB for passport holders, buy your ticket online for mornings or afternoons, get a screen shot of your QR code, and you’re good to go.
Enough English signs to get by on.
The place certainly needs some TLC. The concrete stegosaurus they have out front has a broken spike…. repaired with some clear packing tape. Many of the shelves, fossils and skeletons are noticeably covered in dust and have obviously not been cleaned in a very, very long time.
Overall, they’ve done a nice job with the place and have a solid collection on hand. Worth a quick visit, you’ll need maybe one hour, if you are into this type of stuff.

My son (6) loved the three tall dinosaurs very much and our daughter (3) considered the smaller specimen as dolls. A rather dark building. Some more hands on for children would be better. I guess.

I am a biology teacher so this amazingly easy to get to museum was perfect! Great fossils and displays with lots of info in very good English! Though meant for children, I spent several hours there, fascinated! The only disappointment was the gift shop was for children!

Fortunately it was cheap - 40 yuan for 1 adult & 3 kids. It wasn't worth more than that. It was cool to see the life-size replicas of dinosaur fossils - T-rex, mammoths, sabertooth tiger, stegasaurus & others. The brontosaurus (I think that is the one) reached from the 1st floor up to the 3rd. There are some nice displays of fossils, etc. The museum was much smaller than I expected. We spent an hour there & saw everything. All of the plaques for the displays are in Chinese, so if you can't read it well, as we can't, don't expect to learn anything new. They show a 3D movie, but we didn't see it.
It is incredibly easy to get to, just off of the subway on the Beijing Zoo stop, directly across the street from the Zoo. The museum closes at 4:30. The Planetarium is only a few buildings down the street from it on the same side of the street. We planned to visit it the same day, but it closed at 3:30. Bummer. If you start early enough you may be able to visit all 3 attractions in one day. However, if you are on a time contstraint, I wouldn't go to any trouble to visit this museum. We are here w/ my husband's work for 3 months, so I am taking my kids to every museum we can.
If you are a shopper, there is a REALLY inexpensive mall just next to the Planitarium. Don't know the name since it's in Chinese, but it's similar to the Yaxiao market, but much cheaper and less crazy - mostly locals. No one pressures you at all. You can haggle a bit, but not much since the prices are already great.

I could not find an entry in TripAdvisor for this;
Paleozoological Museum of China, Beijing

==
This museum is opposite Beijing Zoo, so it's very accessible.
The museum adjoins the academic institute, where ground-breaking work goes on. It features displays of some fossils and sites that are unique to China. Some of the display captions are in English and some of the young volunteer guides speak good English. Altogether the displays tell some fascinating stories. about the development of jaws in early fish for example. Naturally there are some giant dinosaur skeletons on display too. It's not a big place but I heartily recommend a visit.
The museum has film shows. Oddly the tickets go on sale only 5 minutes before each show. A loud announcement in Chinese triggers a scrum around the ticket desk. The film shows are good, they take place in an an ordinary room not a purpose-built cinema,

My son (9) found thought this was terrific. Excellent fossil examples of dinosaurs he'd read about and lots of detail on evolutionary processes at work in fish, reptiles, dinosaurs, birds and mammals. There are some models and pictures that are more for show but the value here is in the face that the museum is attached to an institute doing the detailed science and the displays and descriptions are very much educational. It's not a big museum so makes a good combined trip with the zoo or space centre which are close by.

The Paleozoological Museum is located across the main road from the zoo in a building just a little further west of the Planetarium: look for the dinosaurs on the grass verge. It’s an older building and, despite a couple of revamped rooms downstairs that concentrate on more recent periods, quite shabby inside. It reminded me of a run-down public bathhouse and was reminiscent of the older animal houses in the zoo across the road – somewhat ‘institutional’. Aesthetics aside, there are three small floors with a variety of real and reconstructed exhibits – some full-size dinosaur skeletons and different types of fossils. If, like me, you have a youngster very keen on such things then you can’t wrong for an hour or so but otherwise I think this would be an unlikely stop on a typical tour.
Generally speaking, I did enjoy my visit but this is one place that has next to no English language signage on any of the exhibits and some of the lighting appeared very harsh to me. The shop is way overpriced, too. Admission is a little high for what it is at 20rmb a pop but it’s free for kids under 1.2m and also for OAPs with ID, though you may need to ask more than once to get them in for free.

I like museums that are small but tell a great story--and this is one of those! Just the right size--and really interesting and weird fossils.

Its small maybe 45 mins to see everything but it's right near the zoo through and underground tunnel. One side is a peking man exhibit the other dino and ice age mammals
They do have movies that go on sale like 5 mins before it starts mad rush to the ticket counter once that announcement hits

We crossed the street using underground pedestrian pass from the Beijing zoo to this small but great museum. Because of the size (small but multilevel), it was easy to enjoy. Highlight definitely the large fossils of different dinosaurs and ice age animals. English information was available. There are 3D shows but didn't go anymore. At the ground floor there's even a small lab where kids can "excavate" their own fossil - I would have loved to do it if I were a kid but my own kids were tired from a whole day at the zoo. Another side of the museum was about the evolution of man with displays of tools they used and dioramas. We didn't have to visit the Peking Man (Zhoukoudian) site anymore given our short stay in Beijing. It was easy to get a Didi back to our hotel.
