About
Beijing's oldest commercial street, just a block off pretty lake Houhai, is lined in traditional-style stone buildings that house charming souvenir and handicraft shops.

Visited here in November before it got too cold. Came here after visiting the nearby drum and Bell towers, so there was enough to see in the neighborhood. There were places to eat and window shop with a nice easy vibe (NOT too crowded but by no means empty). There is a nearby lake where we saw tourists getting a ride in a covered bike by locals.

The almighty dollar (or this case, renminbi) has caused, private enterprise here to explode with all sorts of gimmicky and not necessarily authentic local products and services. If you thrive in the energy of mass crowds and little cafes and tourist shops then this is the place for you. However, if you prefer a quieter more local experience, go elsewhere. As for physical size it's only a couple blocks long and the lanes are wide enough that the crowds don't seem too crushing. But still, the prices are a bit cheaper off the strip although to Western standards it's all fairly cheap anyway. 3 stars from a non-shopper.

Was told by a local that the 2 or 3 streets of acoustic bars, restaurants and cafes has been there since 2000. All Chinese songs though and I think all are local musicians or wannabes but it' all good. You'll get to hear both the evergreens and latest songs.
The streets border a huge lake which is said to have been around since time in memorial. What you see in the day will be vastly different to what you will experience at night.

Just to experience what is like living in a country with so many people, it is worth a visit, Prices will be a little higher than elsewhere, but the vibe is better.

This area is one of the oldest hutongs in Beijing. The street is touristy, with many shops targeting the locals and tourists - restaurants, cafes, shops selling local snacks, souvenirs, costumes etc. Many people loved to congregate at the Yinding Bridge 银锭桥. Suggest you visit the nearby Bell and Drum Towers if you are there.

Relatively short and interesting street with lots of souvenir shops, some cafes and etc. Not much walking space, especially so with the amount of people.

This streets with some streets blending off it is just above Houhai lake. It is a winding street with cafes, tourist shops, restaurants, bars and locally made gifts. The brick work is lovely and even though is it overrun by tourists now it’s still nice to walk along. As it is touristy be careful of the prices, we had lunch and it was definitely over priced.

A vaguely interesting street in that it has some mass tourists shops and some more interesting specialities dotted within.
Not particularly 'high class ' shopping though.

Stopped off here on our tour and loved it. Old Beijing. Lovely shops and coffee places. Take a boat ride on the river or try a trishaw ride around the area.

I get there with my friend in Saturday.
Found some nice Cafe nearby the subway station.
In the avenue, there are quite a number of special shops from tea shops, cosmetic shop, silversmith, snacks shop and else.
There are bar and restaurant along the lake side as well while I visited there in the early afternoon and not yet open by that time.

I am so sorry - I wish I could answer your question with an affirmative “yes”, but I can only say “maybe.” I saw antique shops along the street but I didn’t go in.
