Just look old
Aug 2019
Disappointing, so much history. But the boat look old and falling apart. Getting a photo can be a challenge as there will be a 1000 chinese people trying to take photo as well.

Whatever floats your boat

A delightful piece of whimsy.

Built to replace an actual boat there is no way this is every going to floaty, as it's made of marble.

The upper section is faux marble - wood painted to look like

Not Especially Interesting By Itself
May 2019 • Couples
Located to the western side of the Long Gallery at the Summer Palace the Quinyan (or 'Marble') Boat was built by the Emperor Quinlong as a symbol that the Qing Dynasty was as stable and enduring as a rock. It is not particularly interesting by itself - though is a good background for photos. But, if you at are the Summer Palace anyway it is worth a look.

Interesting

When you visit the Summer Palace you will eventually wander to where this boat is located at the edge of the lake. Certainly interesting to view, and quite impressive. Of course this was not practical to be built, but it does show the wealth of the time it was made.

On lake Kunming in the summer palace, quite disappointing
May 2018 • Friends
This marble boat was built by emperor Qianlong in 1755 within the summer palace on the Kunming lake . A long wooden covered bridge is leading to it . Actually made of wood and painted as if made of marble. The emperor was criticized for wasting the funds that was designated to build a naval force .

Qingyan Stone Boat is great marble boat on the lake and is actually located at the summer palace. You will take great pictures with the boat as background.

Beautiful on the lake

This boat was made for the empress. It’s marble!!! Goes nowhere and sits in the water. You cannot go on it. BUT it is still worth the walk thru the summer palace grounds to see.

Marble boats at the Summer Palace
Apr 2017 • Solo
This is probably not the sort of attraction that I would make an effort to see. However, it is at the Summer Palace on the edge of Kunming Lake so I thought to just go along and have a look.

The boat is not functional at all and is a lakeside pavilion dating back to the eighteenth century and then rebuilt in the nineteenth century.

Worth Seeing
Nov 2017 • Family
I have to disagree with previous reviewers about not worth walking down to see this boat. This is a very special piece of history on display here. A stone boat carved beautifully and majestically though not functioning and of no use. Isn't that what most antiques are about? Walk all the way to the end of the long corridor and you will find this gorgeous looking boat.
