Most prominent building in Summer Palace
Apr 2019
You can see this building from most places inside the summer palace grounds. A small separate fee is payable to enter this building, with 50% discount for seniors. We enjoyed the view of this building while taking a cruise around the lake.

Beautiful
Nov 2019 • Friends
The Summer Palace as a whole is beautiful. Its definitely a must see in Beijing. We went in winter and I'm hoping to see it again in summer sometime. I imagine the trees will be brighter and I'll get to see alot more of it.

The Only Part Of The Summer Palace We Could See
Oct 2019
The day we were at the Summer Palace, it was so crowded that it was nearly not worth it to come at all, if it had not been for the Buddhist Tower. It is beautiful to look at from the bottom of the steps and just as beautiful once you get to it at the top of the steps. It is worth the climb up.

Another wonder at the Summer Palace, beautifully constructed.

This is the highlight of outstanding building constructed within the summer palace, circle the building to catch the light reflection to get the best photo shots here.
This is on an elevated area, can get crowded but all in an orderly fashion.

Very very impressive
Aug 2019
Getting up there is somewhat of a journey. Be patience and take it in stages. It is way up there and there are a ton of people going up - less down as there are back-ways people take to go down (you will see them when you get there. But you should go up from the front. The view from up here is amazing. The temple and smaller buildings on the way are impressive.. this is the hive of the Summer Palace. Enjoy and take lots of photos. PS. You can buy water and sodas on the way up there - to the normal 35RMB.

Incredible
Sep 2019
This tower is inside the Summer Palace. You pay an extra fee to get into the area and you can climb the MANY steps up to the base but you can NOT enter. Great views from the base.

Hard climb in the heat
Aug 2019 • Couples
Difficult to work out how to get to the top, especially if you are struggling in the heat.

Great view of the park from up there though.

But very busy, midweek August

during your visit to the Summer Palace, take the boat across the lake If you can take a longer boat ride, it is worth it. Picture worthy scenery.

Breathtaking Views
Jun 2019 • Family
For me this was one of the highlights of the Summer Palace. The views at the top were breathtaking. However I wouldn't recommend it for children or the elderly as you have to climb alot of steps.

The high point of the Summer Palace
May 2019
The Tower of Buddist Incense is both the highest point and the most recognisable symbol of the Summer Palace. It is quite a climb - both up and down but worth it. We entered the Summer Palace through the North Gate and after walking our way through the Suzhou Market Street (on your left just after the entrance), worked our way up Longevity Hill to this Tower. Quite a climb and not for those with any mobility problems. Once there the Tower itself is something to see but the best part is the view out over the Kunming Lake. We were there on a clear (and unpolluted day) so the views were great (but so too were the crowds - even mid-week). Getting down involves a very long stone staircase which I suspect could be slippery on wet days. There is no handrail so care is needed.
