We went to this attraction while staying in the Yanqi Lake area and it was around a 20 minute drive. It is quite remote and it will be a long journey for anyone coming from downtown. There is a really nice 1-2 hour walk up the valley. There is a stream running through and bridges dotted around, making for some very nice photo spots. Although it can get quite repetitive. There is also a short 5 minute boat ride which takes you to the main paths. This attraction is not very developed and it can be hard to find toilets. Most of the signs are inaccurate and give incorrect distances or directions. Overall, I would definitely visit this site if you are in the area. Half-a-day would be enough to cover most of the site.

This Sunday I went on a one day trek to Bai Quan Mountain with Jetbay (http://www.jetbay.com/tours/-1days-package-284) and it was amazing! Luckily the sky had cleared so it was a beautiful sunny day, with incredible views! (I took a lot of pictures). We took a boat ride across the lake (so much fun) and then we trekked to the waterfall. During the trek we saw so many little springs (Bai Quan means hundreds of springs) filled with families and locals, so there was an amazing atmosphere there. If you want a break from Beijing, then definitely go to Bai Quan Mountain.
