This is a must visit street. We stayed at the close-by Emperor Hotel It was easy for us to stroll in the evenings when the street lights are on and hundreds of pe is full of eatingeople are on the street. The place is full of restaurants, gifts, candy and souvenir shops.

An old Beijing style area. Lots of dining places, souvenir shops, silk shops. Its beautiful when the lights turned on at the evening. If you don't want to eat at here, 5 minutes walk to Beijing Fun and there are hundreds of food stores / restaurants there.

It was recommended to me by hotel staff to come here and I'm glad they did. The area has been magnificently restored to showcase the areas traditional shopping history. The main Street is very clean, long and has many modern shops but also has splashes of displays portraying 'older times' shopping all in beautifully restored architecture. For me the side streets were a complete surprise as they were far more vibrant and alive than Qianmen Street itself and held a multitude of great stalls for real bargain shopping and authentic Chinese food eating.t

Qianmen pedestrian shopping street (Chinese name: 前门大街(qián mén dà jiē) is over 570-year old, 840-metre-long, and located a few blocks from Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City. Most of the building styles vary from those constructed in 1644 to 1911. During the Ming and Qing Dynasties, it went by the name Zhengyangmen Street.

The street and buildings were substantially renovated for the 2008 Beijing Olympics. The shops include a blend of famous Chinese and international brands. Top brands include H&M, Haagen-Dazs, Sephora, ZARA, Qggle, Starbucks, McDonalds, COSTS CAFÉ, SK Jewelry, Douyichu (over 250 years old), Changchuntang (an over 200-year-old famous Chinese drugstore, Yitiaolong, Quanjude Roast Duck Restaurant (famous for its roast duck), and several tourist souvenir shops.

The street has two very nice sightseeing trams that runs very silently up and down. Thus, if you are hard of hearing, please stay away from the tracks. I took several photos of one of the trams, to show different positions as it moved down the street.

The somewhat unique side streets (which offer roasted silk worm (which even my brother and son tried) and other delicacies) seem much more packed with people. However, that could be due to their width, which is likely 20 percent of that of Qianmen pedestrian street.

From today’s walk, I added over 50 photos, most being of shops on the street and great Chinese bronze statues. I love the ones they have all over China.

The street has been reconstructed, unfortunately not restored to its original look.

There are many "fake" old buildings and rebuilt buildings lined with souvenir stores, coffee shops, boutiques and restaurants.

Like the Western Land in the Disney World, It is not a "restored old street", It has become a superficial tourist spot.

A special trip here is not recommended if you are short on time.

This is a very nice (and semi-picturesque) shopping street, that can be enjoyed both on day or night.
There are plenty of shops and cafes for everyone.
Most of the shops offer brand name merchandise (either fake or real) at good prices. Make sure to ask for massive discounts. It works well even in the more prestigeous shops.

Nice place with mix of new and old. Main street is modern looking, with the original Quanjude Roast Duck store, Starbucks, a store selling Peugeot car and a store where one can play VR games!!! Can also get pricey souvenirs like Jingdailan vases and chinese tea sets. Side streets are old style with lots of little souvenir shops and foods. Walked around having meat skewers and rice-stuffed chicken wings. Walked from there towards Tiananmen (you need to use several underpasses) after a heavy dinner.

The street is kept especially clean and the guards are dressed in old red guard uniforms. Older hotels and street food vendors line the streets coming off Qianmen street. Felt like the historic atmosphere had been captured into the world of ancient Beijing.

Very pleasant walk. Beautiful. However avoid eating there. None of the restaurant needs return customers so you can imagine the quality.
