This was me and my husbands first trip with InterTrips and our first time working with a travel agent. We found a great deal on Groupon. We were not very sure in the beginning but quickly changed our minds. We worked with Jessie Zhang who was very helpful in setting us up for the trip. Jessie was communicative and answered the questions we had leading up to the trip. The itinerary for our trip was sent out one month before our departure.
Once we arrived we really enjoyed getting to know our tour guide Jennifer. Jennifer was great in the amount that she knows about Japan and is very passionate about showing travelers some of the great areas! One item I wish we had known before our tour was having a better understanding of the optional tours. When my husband and I first planned this trip we thought we would just use the trip as a way to go to Japan and create our own itinerary. While this is still an option the tours are a great deal. Once we realized how expensive and long public transportation takes, it is more cost efficient to sign up for the optional tours.
I recommend for the tour organizers to really emphasize this to the people who sign up for the tour. One the first day, because there were not enough people who signed up to go on the "Discover Tokyo Tour" the option was cancelled. My husband and I signed up for the tours following this day because of the better understanding of cost and learning the amount that can be accomplished by joining the tours.
We really enjoyed being able to visit and explore Tokyo, Mt. Fuji, Kyoto, Nara and Osaka. As I mentioned before Jennifer the tour guide is extremely knowledgeable of these cities and the history of Japan. What made the tour so much fun and interesting are Jennifer's passion for her country and sharing it with visors. I recommend signing up for the tours because what we learned and experienced was amazing for the price. It was also hard because there were minimum numbers required of people for the tours and even though we did not have enough people signed up for the tour Jennifer still planned them out even though this meant she was not being paid for the day. I encourage everyone who is able to to sign up for the tours to really maximize your time in the country you are visiting.
Additional recommendations I have for you if you are planning to visit Japan in February is dress in layers and potentially bring an umbrella. There were some rainy days while we were there and having an umbrella is really helpful. Even though there was rain and some snow it was still an amazing tour to see the different sites and learn about the history of those areas.

The true quality of a business shows not only when things go well, but when things do not go as planned. Four of us wanted to go to China in February for the off season rates and Intertrips offered a fantastic package! We booked way in advance.
Communication was excellent with Shawn and Jim. Intertrips staff is very professional, efficient and wonderful to work with.
Sadly prior to our trip, coronavirus broke out in mainland China. Intertrips suspended the trip (prior to US govt advising against travel there) and offered a full refund or opportunity to rebook to another destination they offer.
Their concern was for their customer and staff safety and health. By suspending all the China trips, Intertrips undoubtedly lost untold sums of money.
I will seek out Intertrips at another time for a fabulous trip. This is the type of company I like doing business with and want to see succeed.
Adventure postponed for now.

The team at intertrips is absolutely amazing! They went well above and beyond their role! Shawn was exceptionally attentive to our needs even in the mist of the virus concerns. They are very professional and a pleasure to work with. I highly recommend intertrips and my family and I will personally be using them for all our international travel in the future. Thanks Shawn!

I can not Express how disappointed we are.
Why we were not flown into Beijing in the first place is very confusing.
We were flown way out of the way into Wuhan; our connecting flight to Beijing was canceled.
We were then transferred to a hotel, but given no options to eat other then packaged ramen, all with meat and onions.
I am allergic to onions and Basha doesn't eat meat.
We were offered no coffee or tea.
We were told by the airlines they had contacted our tour guide, but in fact they had not.
This morning they said they never heard of our tour company.
There was no number for the tour guide given.
It was frustrating for us to figure out as the airline would not allow us to board without having been cleared by the tour company.
At this point it has been over 12 hours since we had eaten.
Once we got Micheal from inter trips to confirm we were able to board.
However we were told that we missed our tour for the day.
Arriving to Beijing turned out to be more stressful as we located Tom from intertrips, we were given little time to get a snack as they were rushed to get to their tour ( which we were not on).
Now it has been close to 16 hours we hadn't eaten.
We lost 2 days in Beijing, which left us going on our own to Forbidden palace & Tiananmen Square on a Monday and it was closed.
We missed Temple of Heaven because the tour guide took our group on the first day, so it was done out of order.
The Jade Museum was not a museum it was an over priced store that was extremely cold, our lunch was served prior to us getting there and was cold.
The bus driver kept the bus cold and it was freezing repeated requests went unanswered to heat the bus.
We were not offered blankets.
We were double layered socks, long Jon's under our clothes 4 shirts jackets, hats and gloves it was 0 degrees Celsius out.
There were days wasted traveling all day was spent at the airport on day 7.
There was no canal ride.
The silk factory was an over priced shopping excursion and long hours spent on the bus. Another day wasted.
Day 9 was a waste of time, I asked a day a head of time to go to the temple my request went ignored
Day 10 another boring trip to a high pressure sales excursion to the tea place.
Honestly this trip was a waste of our time
A waste of a vacation that we only get once in a lifetime.

Dear Sunny
We are sorry for your experiences, seems likely you did not enjoy it at all.
It seems problems started when your flight got canceled. We wish every tiny step could be carried out as planned, once there are something unexpected happened, it will interrupt the group's schedule, normally airlines' cancellation is due to weather or mechanical problems. if you have bought travel insurance, please claim. We hold a certain number of seats with Air China normally, If all these seats are sold out, we will use other random airlines (max. 1 transfer on each way) for new customers.
For the land-portion, the Forbidden City closes on every Monday, I am sorry that you were not able to join this optional program.
We will investigate the bus driver, why he did not put the air conditioner on, sorry about that.
Because this is a group torus, all the sightseeing and schedules are pre-set, we are not able to make changes on the schedule. please understand.
Again, I am so sorry to know that you did not enjoy this trip, I wish I could personally serve you guys in the future if you want to visit China or other Asia destinations again.
Thank you for your business
Alex

Sadly, I would not book with the again. Major communication problems!!! Even when booking our flights/optional tours, I had to follow up, as my emails were not getting responses. We found out our optional tour was cancelled, around 745am on day 1, the tour was supposed to start at 830am. Most people booked optional tours ahead of time, so why were we told the morning of, that it would not happen? They knew how many people signed up. Also, why are we paying $150, per person for bus/tips, but then we also need a minimum for the optional tour to happen? Soooo greedy! Luckily the tour guide, went ahead with the other optional tours, even though we didnt have the required number of people. It created a lot of stress, as I did not have back up plans, since I had booked all the optional tours to fill my days. Jennifer was an amazing tour guide. So knowledgeable, so kind. She was very friendly, and caring! Five stars for Jennifer!

I found out about this trip through Groupon. I was hesitant because of how cheap the price was on their site. I couldn’t have been more happy. All the accommodations were A+ and very clean. Intertrips are experts when it comes to logistics. The schedule ran smoothly with a personal driver bussing us from location to location. There are a lot of opportunities to buy things (silk, green tea, knock off markets, etc.) So if you aren’t a shopaholic then you may not want to purchase the extra tour packages. Overall I will recommend those to all my friends and family. Thanks for a fantastic vacation!

Hi there, we have been back from China for three weeks now. We had an interesting trip. The corona virus was fairly new. We were able to tour Beijing with Leo. He took us to different sites than we planned, but it was fun and interesting. We flew to Xi’an next and Richard took us around to places that we found interesting. He took us to gardens that were beautiful. He took us to some streets that had “gates” and “towers”. Next, we went to Shanghai. We saw others sites that were beautiful.
Each tour guide did their best to make our trip fun even though the famous sites were closed. The crew at intertrips was able to arrange for beautiful hotels in every city. They also arranged for us to evacuate China early so that we were not exposed to this dangerous virus for very long. Vivian at intertrips in Los Angeles was our tour coordinator in the states.

The 7 Days Thailand Classic tour we attended was just wonderful! Great hotels, excellent tour guide(Ms. Lift), comfortable bus rides and fun group! We researched online to find a good Thailand package and this one just there in Groupon!!! Entire tour for only 699$, including flights! One thing I wasn’t happy about was the flight itinerary. But after checked online I realized this was common for Thailand travel. It’s odd though, no direct flights ever.
InterTrips’s Travel Agents (California based) are very helpful, all the confirmed hotels once the final docs were received and they were better than expected. Whole trip was very well organized and the tour guide Lift took care of the whole group with expertise. Weather was lovely throughout the country. We visited Bangkok and Pattaya - all of them are wonderful!!!

My partner and I had booked a trip to China for February in November. Booking was very simple and Daisy was my contact and helped me through the whole process and honestly guided me through as I had no clue what I was doing. Middle of January she emailed me with the option to cancel my trip as the Corona Virus had just begun.
This trip was non refundable originally (i think) so it was very surprising they refunded us in full and actually or they gave us the choice to reschedule.
We opted to get the refund but I 100% will be booking with them in the future.
Her customer service was great and she was always reachable by email within 12 hours it seemed.

Pros: great price for hotel and flights bought through Groupon.
Cons: price gouging for add on excursions (admission to some of the attractions were free or <$10 USD but the company charged $50+). The meals that were included were so small and lacked in quality. They changed one of the excursions we signed up for without any notice or option to opt out. The tour guides were a hit or miss on the trip. A lot of time spent on the bus and going to tourist traps where you're stuck for hours (without an option to leave or opt out), and they try to get you to buy local merchandise.

What Optional tours do you recommend?
I am planning on duck dinner, mag lev, grand canal and era show.
What did you do or like?
Written January 5, 2020
The grand canal is good. The Duck dinner I think you could find one equal or if not better for less money. The Mag lev is a novelty that we did and it was fun.
The Tienanmen Square and Forbidden Palace is worth the extra money to have the guide.

on the 8 day tour to Beijing, Bankok, and the beach resort how do you travel by plane or bus?
Written December 19, 2019
We only flew to Beijing, Xian, Shanghai and comfortable motor coach between. Sorry, No beaches.

My sister and I are departing November 30 on the 12 day Intertrips China tour and had a couple questions:
1. Did anyone have difficulty using cash or credit cards? Some feedback suggested we should use WePay or AliPay, but no one has mentioned issues, so I'm assuming we'll be fine with cash or CC.
2. We are flying on China Eastern Air out of JFK. Did anyone upgrade their seats successfully? We'd prefer to choose where to sit, but not sure if that's allowed.
3. Any other helpful hints for the trip? We can't wait! :)
Written November 8, 2019
You can use your credit cards almost anywhere. I would get some local currency for small purchases. Most hotels and shopping areas have ATM machines for converting.
Written November 20, 2019
I'm seeing mixed reviews for the Peking Duck dinner. Did anyone enjoy it and/or did anyone in your group look for alternate peking duck restaurants?
Written October 30, 2019
Not worth it. I have had better roasted duck in San Francisco's Chinatown.
Written November 8, 2019
I'm very interested in this trip, but it sounds like a lot of the days consist of shopping. How easy is it to leave the group during the shopping trips?
Written October 16, 2019
Hi there. We just returned from this trip last week. These stops are usually en route to somewhere else and I’d say they are more culturally interesting and educational than annoying. My husband hates shopping and he thought they were just fine. We did opt out of some of the add on tours/excursions and did our own agenda easily. The tour guides were very accommodating. Take the trip!

What are some hidden feeds that Intertrip asks folks to pay, and is there anyway to avoid them?
Written October 16, 2019
It is exactly what they tell us at the moment to buy the tour!! Read everything and check the expiration date on the passport and get ready to have a wonderful experience.
Written October 31, 2019
Has anyone flown out of SFO? If so, was it Air China and what time was your flight?
Written September 28, 2019
You can end up on any airline. The tour company negotiates the best group deal once they have you booked. We were originally going to be on Air China direct, but they would not accept Intertrips offer. We ended up on Air Alaska to Seattle and the Hainan Airlines to Bejing and back as well as the local travel to Xian and Shanghai. I was very impressed with Hainan and could not imaging Air China would have been any better. Our flight departed around 9 or 10 am to Seattle and then around 2 to Bejing. But you could end up with a different time.

Hi - where would be the best rate to exchange currency when going to China?
Thanks!
Written September 28, 2019
You will get the best exchange rate by using an ATM (much better than exchanging your money at a bank in the US since the fees will be less). There are ATMs in the airport. If you can't locate one, just ask someone.

Hi - I will be going on the 12 day tour to China in Oct and had some questions...
1. How is their breakfast/lunch?
2. Will we have enough time to explore on our own and grab our own food
3. How light should we pack?
4. Are the optional tours worth it?
Written September 27, 2019
I responded already. However, I didn't mention the app. maps.me. I love this app and it works in airplane mode. After you download it, you need to also download the maps of where you are going. After you have the general map in China, scroll in because sometimes you need to download the more detailed maps. Since China is so large, it takes a little bit of time to do it. You can bookmark your hotel. If you go out at night, it will tell you how to get back to your hotel, no matter where you are in a city. You can ask for a car, bus, or walking directions. I love being able to see exactly where I am at all times. I have used this app since November 2017 and I have booked marked the places that we have visited. This is a wonderful app for traveling. We loved our China trip. However, there is a lot of walking involved. Some days we walked over 20,000 steps. Several in our group had walkers or wheelchairs. They couldn't do many of the tours as a result.

Hi, we have bought and paid for, and are scheduled to take the 12 day China excursion through Intertrips through Groupon in October. We would like to know when people started getting literature about their trip they had reserved with intertrips? Any help feedback would be appreciated.
And also wondering how many people have gotten to do All of the their optional tours that is scheduled on the trip. It sounds hit and miss?
Thank you.
