I've become a fan of bike tours since it is an easy and fast way to see several sites, and guided by a local rather than a book or placards. On bikes, you also have opportunities to stumble upon unplanned highlights: In this case we...More
We thoroughly enjoyed our day tour with Bike Beijing. Our guide, Harry, was very knowledgable and spoke excellent English. We visited several sites, including the Forbidden City, on foot and electric bicycle, but didn't feel rushed. Highly recommended.
We have done bicycle tours in many Asian cities and this one ranks among of the best! We showed up for the 10 AM tour without a reservation, but no one had signed up. The manager contacted a tour guide and within an hour we...More
I highly recommend this tour in general, but the three hour night is incredible. We biked through parks, alleys, past lakes, and then by the forbidden city and tianamen square. A highlight was stopping by a park with a hill overlooking the forbidden city and...More

I also did not have children with me, but would not see any issue with the 4hour Hutong and forbidden city tour, provided that your 11 year old is used to cycle in a normal city and the group is small. Most of the way are... More
I also did not have children with me, but would not see any issue with the 4hour Hutong and forbidden city tour, provided that your 11 year old is used to cycle in a normal city and the group is small. Most of the way are small streets without traffic and around the forbidden city and crossing the streets is also ok. I would do it with my kids, but would probably try to find a very small or private group.
