We went for a 5 night cruise with Viking and were not disappointed, the boat was of the highest standard. We travelled from Chongqing to Wuhan. The 3 Gorges are spectacular with vertical cliffs on either side for much of the journey. The are also many cities on the route and a lot of new building work. Highlights included the... More

Had the best time on the Yangtze River Cruise seeing the 3 Gorges and more, the ship we went on was the Yangtze Gold 7 and it was fantastic, it was very clean and had nice decor, our cabin was comfy and had plenty of room, we had our own balcony. The scenery along the Yangtze River was so picturesque.... More

Early in the morning with our coffees in hand we cruised the Goddess Peak of the Wu Gorge. It was a very surreal setting when there is mist and fog in between the gorge just as the sun rises. We couldn’t have asked for better weather. In the afternoon, we continued our visit to the Wu Gorge. After lunch, we... More

We booked the three day Yangtse Gold 7 at the end of a grueling schedule travelling China. We could not board at Chongqing as the water level was low. We had a three hour bus trip to Fengdu. We booked an executive cabin which was a bit tired and void of any character. There was only tea with the kettle... More

We were on a 5 day river cruise on the Yangtze and took a smaller boad trip through the Three Gorges. The scenery along the river was fantastic. Sometimes you could see small waterfalls along the way and the tops of mountain covered in mist lots of photos were taken Well worth the trip Breathtaking scenery a Beautiful boat trip

This is the most scenic stretch of the Yangtze River as you sail through a series of dramatic peaks and spectacular limestone gorges: the Qutang, Wu and Xiling. We were very lucky and never encountered rain, but the ubiquitous mists that hang over the precipitous ridges and heights cling to the canyons, bamboo groves, and lagoons that you silently pass... I have always loved the combination of water and mountains, and the Three Gorges is exactly that. Before the dam was built, a trip through the Gorges was both dangerous and exciting. Today is is beautiful and relaxing filled with photo opportunities at every turn.

What a wonderful way to relax watching some of China's most dramatic scenery slip past you. Qutang gorge was the shortest and included a transfer to a smaller boat to leisurely sail up and down the Goodess stream. Stunning views. Wu gorge was equally good and the mist top hills added to the eerie atmosphere. After leaving Sandouping the first... More

We spent several days both above and below the dam. The more enjoyable part starts just below the dam and on up to Chongqing. The scenery is more rustic than the Rhine, and has more natural beauty. Interesting mixture of the very ancient and very modern in terms of architecture to be seen from the river, or ashore. Worth the... More
