- JamieBarnet, United Kingdom4 contributionsClassic Kenya Tour was Exceptional KenyaWe had the best safari ever thanks to Pollman's and Ahmed! We were booked on the Kenya Classic tour and experienced different landscapes and animals from the Masai Mara, Nakuru, and Amboseli, and they were all was amazing to see. The accommodation was appropriate for the location, being in the national parks and used electric generator power and brought in purified water. It was our guide and driver that really made the experience exceptional. He was so knowledgeable, friendly, and professional, and our experience with Ahmed is why we're looking forward to booking our next safari in Tanzania with Pollman's/Rangers!Visited September 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten September 18, 2023
- Natalie CSydney, Australia3 contributionsA Wonderful Safari AdventureWe recently took a Pollmans tour in Kenya, spending 6 days exploring the Shaba, Lake Nakuru & Maasai Mara reserves. Our driver/guide was Ahmed and I can certainly recommend him as extremely knowledgeable, friendly and entertaining as well as being a safe driver who keeps his safari vehicle clean and comfortable. The wildlife we encountered in each area was abundant and the close proximity to these beautiful animals has given us a lifetime of memories .... and about 500 photos to enjoy! Ahmed arranged for us to join a balloon flight over the Mara and it was truly an awesome experience. Thank you Pollmans Thank Ahmed Thank you KenyaVisited September 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten September 24, 2023
- Laurel B1 contributionBryson as driver/guide/spotterWe had an amazing time on our tour with Bryson as our driver and guide and spotter. He is a great and careful driver. He tells interesting facts about history of Kenya. His knowledge.of the animals and birds is extensive. He could spot wildlife in a flash and was patient while we.took photos and enjoyed ourselves. I cannot recommend him too highly as he was a kind man who was a joy to spend 5 1/2 days with as our guide and driver and spotter.Visited September 2023Traveled with friendsWritten September 29, 2023
- baaaaalloooooooooons117 contributionsFor a stress free and enjoyable safari this is your company. What an amazing company to use for a safari. Our guide Francess was excellent we got to see the big five and so much more. Francess looked after us so well, nothing was any bother and his knowledge of animals and plants was outstanding, he also has a wicked sense of humour. It was a pleasure to meet and spend time with him. At the end of the safari he took as back to the airport. Thank you Francess x We went to the Masai Mara including a hot air balloon safari, Lake Nakura, Lake Naivasha and Amboseli. Our jeep was clean and we had fresh water every day. Pollmans met as at the airport and took us to hotel in Nairobi, collected us the following day and escorted us to the elephant orphanage, giraffe centre, womend refuge and shop and mens wood carving centre. Our guide Simon was very attentive to our requirements, friendly and spoke good English I highly recommend this company it was completely stress free and so well organised. Thank you so much. Untill next time xVisited September 2023Traveled with familyWritten October 16, 2023

Masai Mara, Lake Nakuru, Lake Elementatia, Lake Naivasha and finally Amboseli. A long drive but worth every second. Special mention to our tour driver Dan. He was outstanding. We were so lucky to have a fantastic group and Dan as our ‘captain’.Visited October 2023Traveled with familyWritten October 20, 2023
- Chris9 contributionsA truly amazing safari experience. We booked the Pollmans Classic Safari Tour through Trailfinders and couldn’t have asked for more… the parks have been amazing, having seen four of the “big five” on the first day. Our guide, Marvin, has been excellent. He is enthusiastic, knowledgeable and very helpful, not to mention his rally driving skills that are second to none.Visited October 2023Traveled with familyWritten October 27, 2023
- Libby H9 contributionsThe best Safari Guide we could have asked for!Having never been on Safari before and both having some degree of health issues, we decided to take a one day Safari to see how we got on. We were blessed to have an amazing Safari Guide, Aswad Khan. He has 36 years experience running Safari tours and is quite evidently very knowledgeable. He had a great sense of humour too, which made for an even more enjoyable day. Aswad was determined to get to the reserve as early as possible before the animals moved away from the road side, which meant we got to see so many of the animals we had hoped to see. We stopped off for a buffet lunch in the middle of the reserve, within a secure compound, where we found more interesting creatures and a small pool to cool off in.Visited October 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten October 27, 2023
- Rowena WLondon, United Kingdom1 contributionPure magic! This was our first time in Kenya and whilst our expectations were high, they were surpassed by the amazing safari we did with our guide Sheshe from Pollman's, arranged through Trailfinders. Over 8 days on a private safari for 4 of us, we went with him from Nairobi to the Masai Mara, Lake Naivasha, Amboseli, Tsavo West, Taita Hills and finally on to Mombasa for 3 nights at the beach. Every day brought exciting new wildlife sightings and experiences. We spotted all the big five in our first 24 hours on safari but there was still so much more to see and do, that we never got bored. Throughout our trip, Sheshe worked hard to give us the best possible adventure, whilst keeping us entertained and informed. He knew so much about the birds and animals we saw, of every shape and size, from geckos to hippos. He also talked to us about Kenyan culture and his own life and family. We drove for many hours together, covering vast distances in sometimes challenging conditions and always felt safe with him at the wheel. All the lodges we stayed in were brilliant too, each different and characterful in its own way with good food throughout. Highlights were hippos on the lawn at the Lake Naivasha Country Club, the stunning animal gatherings at the Kilaguni Serena Safari Lodge watering hole in Tsavo and herds of elephants coming to drink in the evening at Salt Lick Safari Lodge. Having a great guide makes all the difference to your safari. From start to end, Sheshe and Pollman's made our holiday magical.Visited September 2023Traveled with familyWritten October 29, 2023
- Mindy LColumbus, Ohio280 contributionsA Week Safari means a Week in a JeepWe had a wonderful time spotting the wildlife in Masai Mara, Lake Nakuru, and Amboseli National Park. We saw elephants, giraffes, lions, leopards, cheetahs, hippos, Impalas, buffalo, hyenas, crocs, Eagles, rhinos, and flamingos. However, they don't tell you that a week safari is a week crammed into a jeep for over 8 hours a day! I'm 6'2" tall and in a full jeep I had no extra room to stretch out my legs and as the week went on it got worse and worse. Driving from Lake Nakuru to Amboseli with a stop for 2 hours at Lake Navisha and 1/2 hour lunch break in Nairobi still meant nearly 10 hours riding in a jeep. By the time we arrived I could barely walk. It was so bad we had to miss the full day game drive in Amboseli because I didn't want to end up in a hospital or mess myself up so bad I missed my flight out the next day. During the game drives, the roof of the jeep is open so you can stand up and take pictures. We had some wonderful times and got some great pictures doing that. But when we are traveling from place to place, I couldn't stand up and it was slow and torturous. All jeeps and trucks have a speed governor that limits it to a top speed of 80kph, around 50mph. This makes long drives even longer. There are also few spots where the road is more than one lane in either direction so passing lanes are hard to find and you spend a lot of time behind some very slow moving trucks. Everything else about or trip was fantastic! The driver was great, friendly, and knowledgeable. The hotels we stayed at, Sopa lodges in Masai Mara, Lake Nakuru, and Amboseli, were excellent. However, we did pay more to upgrade to the hotels instead of tent camps because we wanted to have a pool and a nice lodge, but we really didn't have much time to use them because we were in the jeep all the time and rarely spent any daylight hours at the lodges. I would definitely recommend this company, but if you are a large person, or an old person, or both, you might want a shorter trip than the one week we did. You might also consider flying from place to place because just the drive from Nairobi to Masai Mara was 6 1/2 hours then you check into the hotel and get back in the jeep for another 3 hour game drive. That's just the first day. It was a magnificent once in a lifetime trip but the websites don't tell you about the amount of time you spend cramped in a jeep. I just wanted to make sure you knew what you are signing up for. We have been back over a month and my leg is still not working right from the time cramped in that jeep.Visited September 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten November 1, 2023

It was an amazing 6 days with Spider, our guide. We saw so much wildlife - and he was incredibly knowledgable about the animals, the birds, the parks and the people throughout the whole tour. We booked a 4 day safari with a 6 night beach hotel in Diani beach (Leopard Beach Resort.......reviewed seperately)
The van was quite old and had no air-con. Apparently not many of the vehicles have air-con and the few that do charge $500 per person more, this was told to us by someone travelling in an air-con vehicle. Pollmans own website shows the nice big Overlander air conned vehicles, where as in reality most are the 'safari bus', which are converted toyotas, quite cramped if full and as mentioned very very hot when outside temperature in in the high 30C.
A lot of time is spent on main road travelling to parks, up to seven hours driving each day. Take plenty to drink and learn to drink water at bath water temperature!
Parks themselves were really good. We did Tsavo East, then Amboseli, then back to Tsavo West (Taita hills). Lodges we stayed in were all good. Highlight was Amboseli and staying at the foot of Mt Kilimanjaro. None of the lodges have air con, but do have fans for stirring the hot humid air!
Plenty of animals to see. All the drivers (there are a lot in each park) are in radio contact. If a 'good' animal is seen, every van knows where it is and suddenly you might have 20+ vehicles following (chasing) the poor lion or whatever, each driver trying to give his occupants the best view, (good experience = a good tip for him). Really didn't feel comfortably with this side of things, our group asked driver to move on and leave animal in peace. Worst example was in Salt Lick, where we all (20 plus vehicles) went on a night drive with a game warden in each vehicle who were so intent on getting close to the lions that we were driving off the road to overtake other vehicles and upsetting the mother lion who were literally being chased by us all, she turned around and growled at all the vehicles, very upsetting for her and us. The game wardens should know better.
Each time you enter a park, driver goes off to pay fees and sort paperwork, leaving you at the mercy of countless locals who want to sell you souvenir's or change dollars to Kenyen Shillings at appaling exchange rates (Do they think we just got off the boat!). They are very persistant and don't take no for an answer. Expensive watches, designer sunglasses and iPhone 10's in back pocket, telling you they have starving children at home. Really?
Comfort breaks are at designated souvenir shops which have toilet facilities, again be prepared to pay top dollar for anything including soft drinks.
This safari involved too much driving and not enough time in the parks. We would do another safari, but stay in one lodge for a few nights rather than moving around so much as most of the animals are the same in all the parks.
Overall, we enjoyed seeing the animals but didn't realise there would be so many vehicles almost in convoy jostling for the best view.

We booked a private trip for a week in September 2022 covering Amboseli, Lake Nakuru and Masai Mara through Trailfinders UK who used Pollman's as the ground agent.
We were extremely satisfied with Pollman's and this was because of Victor - our driver and guide. Victor is an exceptional driver with extremely impressive work ethics. He has very good knowledge on wildlife and Kenya, an exceptional spotter and knows all the roads thoroughly. He made sure we always got the best photos, always gave us extra time and never made us hurry - he went over and beyond to make us see the wildebeest migration - we were late in coming back to the lodge and even though we told him to take some rest after hours of driving he did not take a break and was ready before us to leave for the next game drive ! Most important of all, we always felt safe with him.
Please request Victor's name as driver if you go through Pollman's, you will not be disappointed.

A dream come true for those looking for adventure, exploring and in search of some of the most incredible animals on the planet.
This trip was everything my wife and I could of ever hoped for and would highly recommend using Pollman’s.
We especially enjoyed our trip thanks to our brilliant driver, Marvin. Marvin was extremely accommodating, very down to earth and a really easy person to get along with. Marvin was so good at getting us in front of the animals during game drives for the perfect photo. We got to see the black rhino, white rhinos, giraffes, elephants, hippos and many more.
One highlight was our boat ride on Lake Nuvasha which was one to remember. Our boat driver and guide got us within distance of 2 Hippos for a photo opportunity which didn’t look too close but the one Hippo was not happy and felt we were too close!! This led to the Hippo chasing us but we never in danger as the guide was very switched on and ensured he got us away in plenty of time. It led to an incredible video of which there is a screen shot below from part of the video where the Hippo chased us.
There are long days if you go on the same trip we did whereby we visited 3 different areas. Masai Mara, Lake Nakuru and Nuvasha then finally Amboseli. All 3 places are well worth seeing and we are absolutely thrilled with what we go to do and see. The travelling between destinations is long but absolutely worth it to see the big five (and the ugly big 5). We saw and got close to plenty of lions, large males as well as females with cubs!!
We pre booked a hot air baloon safari which is a must!! Could not recommend it enough, was breathtaking.
There is so much more I could say but thanks to Marvin our driver and main guide for our tour and the group of people we shared our truck with, it made our safari that much more memorable. We have the best collection of photos and videos that we will treasure for the rest of our lives

Our experience with Pollman’s was wonderful! We had a 7 day private safari experience in Kenya spanning across Masai Mara, Nairobi, and Lake Elmenteita. From start to finish, everything was perfect! Our driver and guide throughout the entire trip was Michael, and I highly recommend for you to request for him if you take a trip with Pollman’s. He went above and beyond to make sure our trip exceeded expectations and was so memorable! He was knowledgeable about everything, extremely friendly, quickly resolved a few trip changes and snags along the way, and really just put in extra time, energy and effort to make sure we were comfortable and happy the whole time! We were able to see the Big 5 and experienced so many incredible experiences and memories we will never forget! Thank you Michael, can’t wait for Tanzania next time!

We did the Kenya classic tour with Ahmed as our guide and driver. It consisted of staying at lodges in the Masai Mara, Lake Nakuru and Amboseli, and also visiting Lake Naivasha in between. The entire experience was incredible and a huge part of that can be owed to Ahmed, who seemed to know absolutely everything and was also so lovely. He answered every question we had (which was a lot), made funny jokes and was a great driver. We saw so many animals (way more than I thought we would) and each different location we went to was beautiful.
I cannot recommend this tour company enough, we never had to worry about what was happening next because we knew it was all taken care of. The cars were comfortable, with large windows and the roof opening up for great angles to see the animals.
Although I’m sure all the tour guides in this company are great, you’d be very lucky if you got Ahmed as a guide.

Pollmans were the safari company of choice of our travel agent Trailfinders. We travelled with a private guide around Masai Mara! Lake Nakuru and Lake Naivasha.
Our guide Sam had years of experience and exceptional animal spotting and bird spotting talents. We got exceptional pictures, spotted many small mammals and birds we would otherwise have missed.
The vehicle was very comfortable, but expect bumpy rides which is a feature of Safari.
We must also mention Kanye and Fanwell (Otigama?) they took us to the David Sheldrake centre for baby elephants. This team were excellent. not only that we asked to stop for something to eat and we were taken to an excellent spot with delicious food but more importantly lots of little and beautiful birds fluttering around,
There trips were seemless and picking up and dropping off times were correctly predicted,
I would recommend Pollman anytime.

We were on safari with Pollmans 10-17th August 2022, our first visit to Kenya. We stayed on Diani Beach afterwards but I want to focus on the safari.
It really was a wonderful experience and a big part of that was due to the staff. Right from when we landed in Nairobi on the 9th Pollmans staff were excellent, friendly and helpful.
Our safari guide for the week in Masai Mara, Lake Nakuru and Amboseli was Jonathan Musyoka. He really made sure our safari was a once in life time experience, ensuring we saw more animals than we ever expected to see. On top of that we saw them up close including a Leopard eating it’s kill up a tree, and Cheetahs and Lions also eating! We had several sightings of lions, and numerous elephants, giraffes, Rhino and Hippos plus many others including and incredible variety of birds.
Jonathan was incredibly knowledgeable about the animals, birds and plants. I don’t think there was a question that stumped him! He was also considerate and involved us in the plans for the day. He would give us options of when to go on safari every day, such as a early morning & evening drive, a whole day or half a day. Importantly he wouldn’t rush us either, so if we wanted to linger looking at an animal/bird taking photos we had plenty of time. Just as crucially he had a good sense of humour so we had a laugh!
We had some long drives between parks and Jonathan made it interesting by telling us about the areas we were passing through and answering our many questions and making sure we had sufficient stops.
The vehicle we travelled in was surprisingly comfortable even over very rough ground, also testament to Jonathan’s driving skills. It was also kept very clean and as it was a six seater, for four of us all with window seats it was perfect.
In summary it was everything we hoped for mainly because of guiding and communication skills of Jonathan, a lovely man and credit to the company.

We arranged a holiday through Pollmans. We were collected from the airport and taken by private transfer to our hotel. Then collected a few days later for our night on safari. There was an error in collection time which resulted in us being late but Pollmans arranged a night Safari for the drive we missed. The driver was with us throughout the two day trip and was so accommodating. He worked so hard to get us sights of any animals we had missed and did a fantastic job! We saw so many animals and had just a fantastic time. Can’t recommend highly enough.

My partner and I chose the first week of our two week honeymoon to be a safari in Kenya. We went for the classic Kenya Safari (2 nights in Masai Mara, 1 night in Lake Nakuru, 2 nights in Amboseli). The trip was simply the best holiday we have ever had.
Our guide, Sayed (nicknamed Spider) was absolutely incredible. From the moment he picked us up from our hotel in Nairobi to dropping us off at the airport, he was exceptional. Incredibly friendly, and very informative, Spider made the safari perfect. He was always on time and the vehicle was always very clean. We were on a private safari, so he gave us some alternative options to maximise our Safari experience. For example, on the full day in the Masai Mara, he recommended taking a packed lunch so we can spend the whole day out searching for animals, which included a trip to the Mara river to see Hippos and Crocodiles. He also took us to a Masai village which was an incredible experience. He helped us secure a walking safari when vising Lake Nakuru which allowed us to get up close to Zebra/Giraffe etc.
The animals we saw were amazing, we saw a different pride of lions every day. Spider ensured we were not missing out when seeing groups of vehicles stopping for game viewing, but also we had a personal touch when seeing other animals when it was just us and them, including having a two male lions just perched by the side of the road in Nakuru when it was just us.
Spider seemed to be known by all the other drivers who were always asking for his advice and where to go. Some other drivers even told us how lucky we were to have such an experienced driver.
Every lodge we visited was brilliant. The Masai Mara game lodge tents were our favourite. The food was great, staff were very friendly and the tents an amazing experience to stay in. Lake Nakuru lion hill lodge had great views of the lakes. We saw flamingos and Rhino's while on game drives, but also Spider allowed us to view animals while travelling in and out of the parks. Finally Amboseli Serena lodge was a great place and the park was very different to the others, but we still got up close and personal with a large pride of lions and some huge elephants. Not to mention the views of Mount Kilimanjaro which were simply jaw dropping.
We would truly recommend Kenya as a safari option for your holiday and personally I would ask for Sayed (Spider) if possible.
We cannot wait to return. Asante Kenya and Spider!

Tipping etiquette on pollmans safari? How much are you expected to tip and to whom?

Can anyone help with luggage on the safari? I’ve been told we can have 15kg in soft sided bags, is that a bag each? And can it be a wheel suitcase or does it need to be more like a back pack? Thanks in advance

Just finished our safari
If you have internal flights 15kg is the maximum weight per person you can take.
If you are in vehicles all the way, there can be up to 8 people in a lwb Toyota land cruiser or a Nissan utevan (shudders). If the vehicle is full, 15kg per person is about as much as they can accommodate. We only had 4 people on our tour so took the luggage intended for storage with us.
Some people were using wheeled cases but the drivers did not appreciate them and if the dimensions are wrong they wont fit in the vehicle

hi Kristie, it's more like a mini van car, fits 8-10 PPL. during safari the driver lifted the vans roof top up so we could stand while having our trip, plus while driving it felt quite breezy, it didn't feel too hot. I recommend it 100%
