We booked a 5 days / 4 nights safari to Amboseli Tsavo West and Tsavo East with FAD. We had an amazing journey on our very firat safari tour. Even if we booked short timed (2 weeks before) and from Nairobi, the planning and communication with the owner Mike was good. The lodges and vehicle were nice and well selected. The Driver Niki was well experienced and had a good network with other drivers so that we could rush to rare animal sightings. He also told us a lot about the animals, nature and history.

Special thanks to Mike and our driver Niki for the great safari experience!

In August 2024, I went on a week-long safari with a friend with First African Dream Tours & Safari. visited Hell's Gate, Amboseli, Nakuru, Masai Mara, and Naivasha. From the time of pickup until the time of drop-off, the entire trip was efficiently planned. Michael, our safari guide, was fantastic—extremely helpful, highly informed about the area and its species. Thank you once more for the amazing trip to Kenya.

Our party went on a vacation with them, and their guides were awful. I will never recommend First African Dream Tours & Safaris due to their awful service and staff's awful conduct, especially since they cost us $6000 for it. I regret scheduling them since it was the worst experience of my life and I should not have done so.

Our experience with First African Dream Tours & Safaris was the worst trip and tour we have ever experienced. We have travelled all over the world, but our experiences weren't that great. They simply made everything worse for us. Everything was scheduled two months in advance, but nothing was actually scheduled when we arrived. Even the last-minute changes to the plans prevented the booking of appropriate lodgings. In particular, they reserved a three-star hotel in Lavisa while collecting money for a five-star establishment. The automobiles we were given for the tour were also the worst.

Hello,Asa Zachary, we don't know whether this is your real name or not,but we have to call that.We have read the review which you posted to our business listing page on TripAdvisor, but we found that the review is not genuine.First,as you have said that we collected from you money for a five-star hotel, and we changed at the last minute to a three star hotel in LAVISA,please here in our country kenya there is no place called LAVISA,so please try to rethink whether your right.About the automobiles you said,we really don't understand what you really mean, because we provide two types of transport to all our clients who book safari tour with us,either by 4Ă—4 Toyota Land Cruiser jeep or by Safari Min-Bus depending on their request, payment and time of the season. So please we don't know what type of the car you used during your Safari trip Please we don't know which tour officer organised your safari and how many days and night's and which places you booked. So please we ask you kindly to rethink and relocate this review to the right location or you remove it.We realy respect you,and we care your concerns.Kindly regards Michael

We have just returned from a great safari and beach holiday booked through Mike Musyoka of FAD. He was so prompt initially and answered every query and offered various programmes for us to consider. Our impression of his agency was a positive one since he seemed to give us a lot of attention. He asked for full payment before our arrival so he could secure our places because we kept insisting that we only wanted the accommodation we paid for i.e. The Royal Mara Safari Lodge followed by Hemingways in Watamu.....both excellent choices. We enjoyed ourselves a great deal and the service was impeccable in both places. The problem was that Mike only paid them the deposit so when it was time to leave, the administration staff of both hotels was worried about the rest of the payment which was never made. We paid everything 2 months in advance and our agent Mike Musyoka ONLY paid our deposits. This is not acceptable and could have been a great problem for us had the Royal Mara and Hemingways not been so understanding so as to put the client before everything else.
In spite of repeated insistence with Mike Musyoka to settle the payment with both resorts, he has failed to do so.This agency is evidently not to be trusted. Our experience with FAD has led to embarrassing situations and many overseas phone calls to try and get him to settle the bills. It is truly a shame. A business cannot be run in this manner.
Many thanks and our compliments go to the Royal Mara and to Hemingways for being so accommodating in spite of FAD Safari Tours.

As others have already said in their reviews, Mike Musyoka was very efficient with e-mail replies offering his various safaris. We were unable to organise a deposit by bank transfer in time before leaving Scotland for Kenya but this was not a problem. Mike came to our hotel and discussed our requirements and we paid the whole cost of the safari then. We took a 4 day safari to Tsavo East, Amboseli and Tsavo West and it was no problem changing from the original booking for Tsavo East and West only. We paid a reasonable price for a very experienced driver called Salim to take us on our once in a lifetime safari where we had the van totally to ourselves. We saw, and took photos of, over 2,000 animals and birds of over 200 different species. Salim was very patient as my partner is a keen photographer and took over 2,000 photos! He pointed out lots of animals we hadn't even noticed and was able to name them for us. We are both really glad that we chose First African Dream Safaris and if we were ever fortunate enough to be able to take a safari again in the future we would contact Mike to see if we could visit the Masai Mara next time. Incidently. Salim arranged a visit to a local Masai village for us as he knew the chief's son. That was a real eyeopener! As a final note, the chosen accommodation at each park was excellent too and all very different and the 'tented' accommodation had the best shower and a spectacular view of Kilimanjiro at 6 am!

Me and my boyfriend (aged 24 and 25) booked a three day Tsavo East and Tsavo West safari with Mike at First African Dream based on a personal recommendation of a friend. I was aware of the fact that a deposit would need to be transferred and having read reviews of others all confirming that there had been no problem with doing that I was completely calm. Nevertheless, since I was booking the safari an odd week or so before the trip, we weren't asked for the deposit beforehand and paid the whole sum the next day after arriving in our hotel. Mike came over to see us and we completed all the paperwork within minutes - a true hassle-free experience!
We had chosen to stay at Voi and Ngulia safari lodges and both were amazing. The views were mindboggling, the food was great and for those who don't get to see a Leopard in the wild can see one (or three in our case) come and feed on raw meat in Ngulia just meters away from your dinner table.
During our numerous game drives we got to see four out of the big five - didn't see the Rhino, but the chances are rather slim and you have to be really lucky. Nevertheless, we saw a lioness sleeping right by the road, she then woke up, yawned opening her mouth very wide and took off - umbelievable sight! We were also lucky to see a cheetah in Tsavo East and a leopart in Tsavo West (apart from the family of three leopards that came to feed in Ngulia). The leopart we saw was actually on a morning hunt so a pretty interesting experience following his clever moves.
Our driver - Kamau - deserves a separat paragraph of praise. A wonderful and fun young guy full of energy and enthusiasm who's got real eagle vision. He would spot a giraffe and we would then take a few minutes looking for it just to see its neck going in line with a tree trunk :) He was extremely knowledgeable in terms of animal and bird species and would tell us a story about any animal that we were interested in. He took great care of us and made sure we saw as much as possible. A great friendly guy with a wonderful sense of humour who made the trip unforgettable.
If you decide to book with FAD I'm sure you are in for a treat!
Thank you Mike and Kamau for the excellent experience!

The trip was great thanks to the wonderful guides Charles and Athumi who were with us all the time in Kenya and Tanzania. However, the tour operator, Mike, has no communication skills and even less financial skills. He did not tell us that it would take 21 working day for a bank draft and a certified chque to be cleared in Kenya. He had NO financial reserves and so when we got to the Tanzania part there were no payed reservations for hotels etc. We paid for them and put a stop payment on one of the cheques. It was a real worry and ruined much of the last 7 days. We had given him $75US when we arrived for a hotel on our last night in Nairobi and I had him phone in front of me to get the confirmation number. He got off the phone and said the clerk was out and Mike couldn't get it. So we returned to Nairobi and went to hotel but no reservation so we ended up paying another $100 each paying in total $175 each for the shared room. Thanks to other tour oertors we did enjoy the safarai and had accomodation.

Thanks June for telling the all our extremely customer and the rest that you went on safari with us,but please you have forgotten to tell them that, before you arrive to kenya,i e-mail you asking you to arrange the rest of your payment of your safari so that we can finalize all the payment of the safari lodge but you refused to do so,please you could have told them that you paid us with foreign cheqes which you stopped the payment when your return back to Canada which you grounded our business financially up to this moment, please where do you wanted us to get money from for your safari while you didn't wanted to pay for your safari?please try to ask your self,we are not Millionaires to pay safaris for all our clients.if i new all this i didn't allow you to go on safari without payment, because you have spoiled all our good reputation in the internet writing review which is not true while you know your the one who spoiled your holiday not us.

Unfortunately we had the same horrible problem as some other customers wrote here in tripadvisor too concerning the payment!

Mike, the agend was very communicative and smart at the beginning (inquiry process) during e-mail correspondence and booking process. After we arrived in Kenia he suddenly increased the price of the safari and demanded more money (+200 Euro for 2 person). We negotiated nearly one hour and paid finally +100 Euro more. Then we started our safari and wanted to relax the trip.
After the first day in a lodge in Tsavo when we wanted to start in the morning, the manager told us that Mike didn´t pay the accomendation. It was a nightmare. We had to pay cash to leave the lodge. After the 3 day safari trip, when we were back in Mombasa, we tried to get back our money from Mike. It was a complicated process. He worte that he wanted to give uis back the money and promised to come to our Diani Hotel to bring the money. But he never came and took more then one week. Each day we had many e-mail correspondence with him. Finally, thank you for the help of tourist police in Kenia, we got back our money.
