My girlfriend and I did about 9 days of Safari I’m southern Kenya and Northern Tanzania. We started in Amboseli, Masai Mara, Serengeti, then Ngorongoro Crater.
We spoke with a few Safari companies but George was the most responsive and worked really closely with us to help plan the trip. We went back and forth on many changes and George was pretty accommodating and helpful overall. He helped us change parts of our trip while we were on Safari as well, which we appreciated.
Both of our drivers on Safari were great. Ken was our driver in Kenya. He’s a big, fun, guy with a good sense of humor and who took us around to find a lot of great sightings. We requested Ken after reading some reviews about him on Trip Advisor. We had heard bad experiences a few people had with driver’s and wanted to make sure we had someone accommodating and knowledgeable. You spend most of your time in the truck with the driver, so it’s important that you all feel at ease and in good company together, otherwise I could imagine it being a miserable experience.
So Ken was great and we really appreciated him and would recommend him if you’re considering a trip. He picked us up for the airport when we flew to Masai Mara from Amboseli, and took good care of us.
In Tanzania we spent more time with our driver Chombuso. Chombuso was a true professional and someone we felt very secure with, safe, and taken care of. You can tell he really loves the animals and he went above and beyond to make sure we got some really amazing shots and up close looks at animals, we definitely recommend Chombuso when in Tanzania.
We had the trio of a lifetime, we stayed at Elewana properties and got the 10% discount, and then stayed at Neptune in Ngorongoro with was amazing. We booked luxurious places which made the experience really nice.
Overall with our trip the only issues and drawbacks were with the Safari vehicles and things that didn’t align with what George had told us. The land cruiser vehicles were overall in good shape, but missing WiFi, a working cooler/refrigerator, and A/C.
These weren’t major issues, but you do spend 90% of your time inside the vehicles, so the small things make a big difference. Being able to store cold drinks and maybe a few beers would have been really nice while on safari. It would have been nice to have WiFi as well - but that wasn’t as big of a concern, but since we were told we would have it, it was slightly disappointing. The A/C on a few occasions would have been nice, when the roof wasn’t open and we weren’t on Safari. But overall wasn’t a big complaint.
So overall it didn’t have a big impact on the experience, but also shouldn’t be promised unless those things are actually included. Make sure you get clear confirmation they are included if those things are important to you, I would ask multiple times and be very specific with George.
We did have the trip of a lifetime using RightChoice, it really was amazing. Drivers were great and the places we stayed were all luxurious and accommodating. We are happy with our decision using RightChoice and would recommend them as a travel guide and booking agency.
