We regularly travel to Kenya for our holidays and whenever we do a safari or day trip, we will always use Julius from JT safaris. We know we will always get good service & he is very reliable. This year we travelled to Kenya during covid19 & had no worries. Everywhere we went we felt safe, & people over there seem to take the whole issue more seriously than here in the UK. We were regularly temperature checked everywhere we went, hand sanitizing was second nature everywhere, & even in the safari jeep. Very impressed. Julius arranged a flying trip to Masai Mara for us & suggested Fig tree camp. It was a beautiful camp & we absolutely loved it there, it was just such a shame that it was so quiet with hardly any guests staying. I highly recommend the camp. We had a safari guide/driver called Daniel who was excellent and extremely knowledgeable. We saw all the famous animals apart from the rhino, but the Mara is huge, so not very surprising! We also did a day trip to Shimba hills & Sheldrick falls through JT which was very scenic & beautiful, but obviously nothing compared to the Mara for animals. Julius will always be in contact with you on safari to make sure everything is to your satisfaction. It always has been with us. Julius is a hard working man who goes out of his way to make sure you have a good safari. We recommend him highly, & wish more people would go & visit Kenya & see the beautiful country & support the local people & their businesses. They are really finding it tough due to covid19 & need all the support they can get just to keep going & earn a wage. We have nothing but praise for Julius & the excellent service he gives. Asante sana Julius. 👍

J T Safaris (Julius Nzumbi) Not to be confused with another JT safaris. We have been using Julius for years and he has always given us 1st class service. You must remember it is Africa "pole pole" so it may take a while for a e-mail to be dealt with and sometimes things are a little lost in translation BUT rest assured that Julius will go above and beyond to give you the best experience. This year we travelled as a family of 8 and did 3 different trips all arranged by Julius. We stayed at Diani where Juius has 1 of his offices however due to CV19 this office is still closed. This does not stop anything and he came to meet us 3 times. Once on the road in Ukunda . Once in our hotel reception (just let reception know) and at Ukunda airstrip. As well as this he always telephones during your trip/safari to check that everything is ok and as expected. Any trip that Julius arranges is private so you can decide when and where you want to go. Trip 1: Short safari for 1 day to Shimba hills game reserve about 1 hr from Diani. Took a packed lunch from the hotel and our driver/guide Kevin was on time and gave excellent service, although he can't control the animals. It was ideal for my 5yr old grandson, and to travel in a safari jeep! The walk to see the Sheldrick falls is not for the very young or unfit people and it took us 1 hr to reach the falls down 323 steps followed by rough sandy path. Worth it when you get there though and unforgettable. Felt like i needed an oxygen mask climbing back up. Julius has his drivers supply bottled drinks in all his safari vehicles (normally water) just ask if you have a different preference. Trip 2: Day trip to Wasini island. This was all 8 of us with our own minibus for about 1hr drive south to Shimoni where we boarded our private dhow boat. We set off from the jetty with our guide Hamisi and within 5 mins we saw the dolphins!! After we had snorkeling for those that wanted it. The crew provided flippers and if needed masks/snorkles (we had our own masks CV19) 2 of the crew came with us into the water and showed us the underwater sights. Fantastic. Back on the boat and we put the sail up and headed out to sea whilst the crew sang and made music. Fresh fruit and a large cool box full of soft drinks all included. Off the dhow for lunch at African restaurant overlooking the sea. Spectacular! After lunch we did more snorkeling and then headed back to the jetty again with music and singing for our minibus back to the hotel. We were offered a walk to the village and to visit coral caves but we were all happy with what we had done and had 2 tired youngsters. Trip3: 6 of us flew up to Masai Mara from Ukunda airstrip and spent 2 nights at Fig Tree Camp (see separate review) 1st time to Mara for 4 of the people and it was absolutely fantastic being in the migration. Julius arranged it all using 1 of his own drivers/ guide so that we could fix our own timings etc. Daniel was waiting at the airstrip with clean safari jeep complete with the cool box and charging sockets mains & usb. Although it is only 1500 square kilometers!!! Daniel managed to find us Leopard Cheetahs Lions and about 1 million wildebeests . 3 days is about the right time i think especially with a 6 yr old. She did exceptionally well and was very good at spotting the great variation of animals and birds. I had taken binoculars however Daniel also had 2 spare pairs to borrow. The animals were so close we did not need them and at times could have just reached out of the window and touched them. We only saw 1 bull elephant as the wildebeests drive them away to hide due to all the noise they make. We went to 1 of the Mara river crossings but only saw the crocs and hippos along with the rotting carcasses of failed attempts to cross. Got out there and had a walk along with a ranger. Fantastic views but not a good smell if downwind. Big big thank you Daniel for all his knowledge. Airstrip on time and a jeep waiting back in Ukunda to transfer us back to hotel. 15mins. First class service as usual from Julius. We all say asante sana rafiki. You can trust and rely on this man Julis Nzumbi (J T Safaris)

Had several fantastic trips arranged through Julius while we were in Kenya, he is a man of his word and if he says you will get something you will get it! I know it can be worrying when there is alot of money involved and no email confirmations etc but this is Kenya not England and things are very different out here, hakuna matata! My 5 year old loved his "mini safari" at Shimba Hills and the waterfall was amazing to see (suitable footwear it a must as its a long walk and we weren't prepared!)

We have booked and prepaid luxury Safari trip with Julius for 9 peoplei in Masay Mara. The contact was very good. Unfortunately our plans changed and we could not go. We informaed Julius about it 3 months in advance and he promissed to pay a refund. He told me that he managed to cancel our reservation, He is waiting for refund from the hotel and he will make a transfer to me. After that he stopped answering my emails. We asked tour agent from TUI for help. Julius promise once more that he will make a refund. He promissed to give us a refund many times and was asking to wait. After 9 months, a lot of promises and lies to me and tour agent I still didn’t receive a refund. Julius dissapeared. This whole thing happened at the end of 2019, so a lot of time before the corona virus.

As part of our honeymoon we did the safari tour from Nairobi airport to Mombasa. The safari was amazing!!! Our guide (Viden, I think was his name) was so knowledgable and had keen eyes and spotted lots of things we couldn't see. He was patient with us, and waited quietly with turned off engines so we could have the best experiences and get great photos. He was respectful of the nature and the wildlife (unlike other guides/safari companies that drove too close to the animals or off road etc). He seemed to have a deep respect and love for nature, his job and wildlife. It was amazing to be able to have someone share our values so we could truly appreciate the experience and all the little creatures (even pointing out dung beetles, birds, trees and plants and their cultural significance etc.) that other guides would just breeze past without acknowledging. We saw a leopard, hyena, herds of elephants crossing right in front of us, giraffe, zebras, etc. It was a wonderful experience!! There was a bit of a panic at the beginning, as the driver was running late due to a traffic incident, but this was quickly cleared up and handled well once we were able to get hold of the right people (make sure to bring a copy of their phone number/WhatsApp just in case). But this was made up for with the amazing experience we had, and we were even gifted a wooden bowl that we have proudly on display in our home. The rooms were selected so wonderfully, with excellent views and accomodation (except one room was full of crickets!, But that is not the fault of this tour/safari company). They made sure to inform the accomodation places that we were on our honeymoon so we had some lovely surprises. Julian called every day to check that we were enjoying our experience and satisfied with the tour (which we were). Later, in another tour with another company, we truly got to appreciate how lucky we were with this original tour company. I would 100% recommend them, and if we were ever lucky enough to return to Kenya we would book all of our tours and experiences through this company. They helped to select rooms/accomodation that could cater for my vegan diet, which was greatly appreciated and they made us feel very welcomed. On the return to Nairobi, we arranged airport transfers with this company, they were much cheaper than the hotel's quoted pricing, and the driver (George, I think was his name) was so lovely! Every person we encountered from this company made us feel welcomed, appreciated and like friends rather than just customers. It was truly a personal and lovely experience and we would highly recommend.
