With a guide on hand, this is a great story of a powerful woman in Kenya who helped the community and juggled her fair share of problems over her lifetime. It's a step back into the simpler times and this museum has its fair share of stories to tell in every room you walk through. Having a guide on hand... More

For Out of Africa fan this is Mecca. A must. Beautifully preserved and well kept. A national treasure.

Having lived in this house,Karen Blixen became a very successful novelist with a number of her works becoming movies. The rather expensive tour with a guide retraces the period when she lived there before returning to Europe in 1931. Before the place became a Museum,it had been vacant for a while and many of the artifacts on display are copies... More

The trip wouldn't have worked if hadn't had a guide who gave a potted history of KB. Without the background and anecdotes there wouldn't have been a whole lot to see. With them it gave a great insight into the early days of colonisation.

We actually weren't planning on going but had plenty of extra time so made the trip out. It was quite interesting to hear about Karen and the 6000 acres that she had which is now one of the more posh areas of Nairobi. The house from the outside is the same one they used for the outdoor scenes in the... More

fabulous guide who knew all the facts and figures. May be better value to book tours from home and pay in AUD. i was charged 135$ US to see the elephant and giraffe conservations centres and karen blixen house. Had i not insisted i would not have received a tour of the town centre. My friend booked from home and... More

When you visit you have a compulsory guide you are recommended to tip, which is a little irritating although the guide we had was very good. I just don't like having to figure out how much to tip someone. The history is well told, the house modest and reasonably interesting. The gardens and views on Ngong Hills lovely

We were given the option to come here by our driver. And were pleased that we took it. Our guide was very well-informed and made sure that we got the most from our visit. Nairobi and Kenya have a lot to thank Ms Blixen for.
