The drive to Gatura is scenic, with rolling hills of tea bushes. The staff at the farm are friendly and helpful. Picking and drying the tea leaves was fun and educative. Tasting the different types of tea was great. The walk through the bamboo forest up to the waterfall was marvellous. The home cooked lunch was delicious.

If you are a tea drinker, this is a must. Even if you are not a tea drinker, you will find it interesting. A beautiful location, not far from Nairobi. A really interactive and experiential experience around tea. You get some history about tea and how the different teas are made. I discovered all about the amazing health benefits of purple tea, which is unique to Kenya. You get a chance to walk in the amazing countryside.
You get a chance to taste the different teas and a fantastic 3 course meal as well.

This place is magical. A fantastic way to spend a weekend. Learned so much about tea and picked it! , an awesome short trek to a waterfall and capped of with a healthy 3 course meal. Because of the small crowd and vibe, I never felt like I was solo. A very thoughtfully planned and executed tour. The hosts were informative, friendly and welcoming.

I loved every part of this experience from learning about the tea, picking the tea, to panning it. The waterfall was amazing. I could do that daily. Lunch was fantastic. The entire family catered to the vegetarians and even made special meat dish for the one meat eater in our group.everything was so good and flavorful. They definitely put care into every aspect of this experience.
It was great yo see so many varieties of teas and how each part of the leaf is used ND gives off such different flavors and benefits..
My top faves were purple tea, golden tips and yellow tea.
I definitely recommend this experience to anyone visiting or living in Nairobi. The farm had been in the family for decades.. they make you feel like it's your home too .

We were party of 9 family and friends adults.
We did not know what Purple Tea was! So we were all in anticipation as to what our experience will be when we arrive at the farm, an hour away from Nairobi! Well, we were blown away by the time we left the farm. The whole experience, with the right sunny weather, was amazing!
The tour covered meals, tea of course, picking tea, making tea and tea tasting!. Being a vegetarian group, our food was delicious (thanks to the cook!) and so tasty, that we all had second round! Some of us had a dip in the pool at the water falls. Refreshing and cold!
All of this not possible without the hosts (Robert) themselves. The family hosts were warm, knowledgably, and friendly!
Highly recommended for anyone wanting to do something a little different, a great day out!

The tea plucking, processing and tasting is exciting. The hike experience to the fall was also lovely. The air is fresh too. It is a home away from home.

It was an amazing way to spend our time and well worth the money spent! Wambui was our guide and she was awesome! Her knowledge of tea and basically everything to do with it was vast and the way she delivered it was clear and entertaining. She was personable but professional. We were a mixed group with the oldest being 60+ and the youngest 8 yrs old and Wambui and Paula were able to engage us all. The experience from the tea tasting, picking our own tea to process and take home with us, to enjoying a delicious freshly prepared 3 course lunch and visit to the waterfall afterwards was one that we will remember as a highlight on our first, but not last, visit to Kenya. The refreshments that were offered upon our arrival and the lunch, prepared by Chef Francis, were delicious and more than enough to satisfy us all. The afternoon walk to the waterfalls and a swim, if one desired, was a wonderful way to end our time at the tea farm. If you want to do something that is fun, educational and adventurous I highly recommend that you do this. We can’t forget to mention William, who was a life saver as we wanted to head back before the rest of the group was done swimming, he led us back to the main grounds. All in all, this was a great experience. One that we will remember. Oh, we did purchase a few teas and jam to bring home with us so we are still enjoying this wonderful experience!!!

Wambui was our tour guide and she did a phenomenal job. We took a short walk to the tea plantation and picked our own tea leaves and learned the proper tea-leaf technique. We then took the tea leaves back to the office and took part in the process of preparing the tea leaves for brewing. We took at 15 minute hike to a waterfall and swam for about 20 minutes. Then walked back to the office and had a tea tasting(tasted about 10 different teas). We were also provided a 3 course lunch. I would highly recommend this tour.
