So much to experience

A small reserve with so much to see, was not expecting to see the Big 5 but saw water buffalo and a lioness on a kill within 30 mins of entering the park.

My husband and I were only able to go on 2 game drives at Lake Nakuru because of our short stay. During that time we saw a hippo (which is rare to see), black rhino (even more rare), a lioness with her lion cubs, white rhinos, giraffes, zebras, cape buffalo, impala, gazelles, hyenas, baboons, monkeys, jackels, and more. Would definitely... More

During my stay in Nairobi, we took a drive out to Naivasha and to spend some time out on the weekend. The day trip was interesting one as it is a long drive out of Nairobi and the road is very busy with trucks which could take some time. But once you out there on the lake and seeing the... More

This was our first park in Africa and we were impressed by it. There were many baboons, zebras, Cape buffalo and impala in the park. However, the highlights were seeing both white and black rhinos and flamingos. Although not too close they were quite visible and weren't seen again in Kenya. Also camped in this park, it was pretty basic... More

This is by far "the best" wildlife experience I had. The ambience, spread, number of animals, kind of habitats, their proximity is beyond words. For photographers, this is a paradise. If you are visiting Nairobi and you have skipped this, you not only have missed a an optical spectacular, you have missed an experience of a lifetime.

We went on a one day safari around Lake Nakuru and the surroundings were indeed wonderful. However it is a small park so do not expect to see "The Big Five", but we were Lucky and got close to various animals. It is guite expensive - 80 US$ - compared to 1,000 Ksh. for local people. We would say it... More

This was the first game park we visited. The good thing about Lake Nakuru is the size - compact enough that you can get to where the action is pretty easily. We also got to see white rhinos up close and personal. While we were there there very few flamingos which was disappointing - but can!t be helped. The only... More

We visited the Masai Mara for a couple days and then came to visit lake Nakuru. Not the same! over the past couple years the lake has risen that now you can only drive around it and there's only one road, so if the animals aren't on or around that road...you don't see anything. Little disappointing and repetitive if you've... More

I had been to Kenya before and done the Safari excursions to Masai Mara etc. For this trip my meetings only allowed one day for an excursion. Lake Nakuru has the advantage of being only 3 hours away from Nairobi and as it turns out an outstanding park for seeing a wide range of game and flamingos (more on them... More
