Unique stay / experience with a traditional masai family
We have stayed overnight with Reuben and his family in the conservancy. it was a truly unique experience and i would recommend to go! We were picked up from Suswa town by motorbike, and after a beautiful ride of +/- 1 hour we arrived at Reubens village were we met his family and had a cup of tea. After the tea, we took the motorbikes again and drove to the baboon caves which are very impressive. After another drive, we arrived at the top of the crater which was a stunning view point of the inner and outer crater of Mount Suswa. we stayed here for about an hour and relaxedly enjoyed the view. then we drove back to the village and had time to relax en get the know Reubens family better and played with the kids. when the sun came down, the preparations for the dinner had started. the family prepared a traditional Lamb bbq which was prepared specially for us. after the lovely bbq and a night by the fire, it was time to go to bed and sleep in the traditional manyatta, this was a very unique experience. the next morning we had breakfast and then we drove back with Reuben to Suswa town. if you want the same experience you can reach out to Reuben on whatsapp: +254 719 254971

    Incredible trip to Mount Suswa!
We had an amazing time at Mount Suswa. An incredible camp spot and beautiful hike. Our local guide Daniel was so helpful, we definitely could not have done the trip without him! I would highly recommend sending him. WhatsApp message for an authentic, safe and memorable experience. Daniel +254 795 287076

    Just wow, fantastic experience!
We (my girlfriend and I) stayed with our guide Kiano for one night at his manyata and his family. This truly was my personal highlight of our trip in Kenya. Kiano is very loving, a great family man and funny. His family is very warming and welcoming and it's really impressive and admirable how they live their lives. Also the Mount Suswa area is beautiful (great nature and beautiful milky way every night). Would highly recommend everyone (couples, groups, etc) to book a one or two day stay and tour with Kiano. Tip: Bring some clothes, toys (football), school equipment or any other kind of presents with you when visiting his family. They will absolutely love it (and you will too).

I spent one night with Reuben and his family in his village on Mount Suswa and it was an awesome experience. I helped to look after the animals, saw how the Maasai collect water, visited nearby caves, ate food cooked over an open fire and went hiking up the inner crater to see the spectacular views.

As well as spending time with Reuben in the evening, I was driven to the village on a dirt bike and shown around by Reuben's cousin, Nelson, who was a fantastic guide and made a real effort to show me as much as possible.

Please note, if you are looking for a luxury break and all the home comforts, this is not it. If you are looking for authenticity and an adventure, I would absolutely recommend.

There is very little internet in the village, so I contacted Reuben on his phone, +254 719 254917. Obviously this does require putting trust in someone at the end of the phone, but it's worth it. I found Reuben to be totally reliable.
