I was hesitant about a guided tour and having someone plan our vacation for us in Kenya, but I could not have asked for a better experience. I was lucky enough to find the African Thrillist, if not I'd be lost. Our experience was both authentic and tailored to our needs. Just an outstanding experience.
We spoke before our trip to Kenya about what I was interested in, my budget, special needs/diets etc, and generally just to get a sense of who I was what I liked. Then a couple of days later the African Thrillist developed an AMAZING itinerary that met all of our needs: Safari, urban experiences, and beach time with in 10 days. All at a very reasonable price. The whole time our guide and organizer (Raisa, the founder of the African Thillist) was accommodating, communicative, friendly (all smiles all the time), and super organized.
The first part of our trip started in Nairobi, a city tour guided by the African Thrillist that included an elephant orphanage, the giraffe center, skyline views and other major sites, and a wonderful authentic Kenyan dinner. I could not have asked for a better way to start our trip.
Second part was a luxury 3-day safari, organized completely by the African Thrillist with an amazing driver/safari guide. Her staff and contractors are held to the same high-level standards that she holds herself. I cannot stress enough how safe, convenient, relaxing, and educational the safari was, on top of being the coolest experience of my life. We saw leopards, lions, cheetahs, elephants, zebras, giraffes, hippos, baboons, secretary birds, crocodiles, and much more.
Next stop was Mombasa, again with a guide and driver who was extremely professional, knowledgeable and friendly, and also arranged by the African Thrillist. They know how to pick their people. The day was full of unique experiences to Mombasa (old town, Fort Jesus, Haller Park) wrapped up with dinner and drinks. We explored so much of Mombasa in that day. And again: we were in good hands the hold time with a driver/guide that really knew his way around the city.
Final stop was Diani for beach time. Beautiful crystal clear water and the softest sand you've ever set foot on, we wrapped up with time in paradise with one of the best dinners of my life at Ali Barbour, a restaurant in a literal cave with a natural opening so you can dine under the stars!
Everything was thought of and taken care of. We felt safe and comfortable the whole time. We learned a lot but also relaxed. I can't think of a better way to see Kenya!
