David arranged the most fantastic safari in Masai Mara, working around our schedule.
Our driver, Tim, picked us up in Nairobi on a Monday evening, overnight at a lovely hotel (can't remember the name) and headed off Tuesday morning for Masai Mara. It's a terrible road as you get nearer to the park, but Elida has no control over that. It was a full day drive, stopping at a couple of "markets", arriving at Sopa Lodge mid afternoon. Tim took us on a short safari (about 2 hrs) and we were excited to see lots of animals, including 3 lions.
But the next day was INCREDIBLE! Tim seemed to know the best places to find animals! We saw everything (except rhino, which are hard to find in Masai Mara). We got "up close and personal" with lions, elephants, giraffe, ostrich, baboons, wildebeest, zebras... We saw 2 lions mating, hyenas and vultures fighting over a dead wildebeest, a leopard lounging in a tree, cheetahs lying in the shade, hippos sleeping on a sandbar, monkeys, jackals, cape buffalo, eland, topee, gazelle, hartebeest, warthog, mongoose, water buck, bushbuck, a crocodile and lots of beautiful birds.
I can't say enough about Tim... he was a fantastic guide! He knew the park inside out and gave us the best experience ever. It rained the night before we left and the road out of the area is terrible anyways, so with rain it was even worse... so many safari vehicles got stuck but not Tim... he got us through the most impassable roads!
I would highly recommend Elida Tours and David, and especially Tim!
