Insightful tour in a beautiful coffee estate
Insightful tour in a beautiful coffee estate. James was a friendly and very knowledgeable guide. He enlightened us with practices and culture of coffee. The coffee tasting was a great experience, felt the depth of the coffee tasting.

Ok tour and have some coffee
Book your tour online $30 each and take an Uber for $10 each way. No need to spend $95 plus entry fee to hire a tour company. . Tour was ok and you spend about 90 min walking around the plantation learning about coffee. Sometimes a little boring and it can be hot out there. Coffee tasting and cup of coffee at the end of tour.

A couple of hours well spent
Beautiful coffee farm . . . and our guide, Elvis Opel, was quite informative about how coffee is grown and processed (though I could have done without the unsolicited self-help lecture). We learned how to pick only the ripe coffee berries, and how to separate the inferior beans to be used for instant coffee. The farm also has bananas, avocados, and macadamia nuts. Very hot at midday, so use sunscreen and carry a bottle of water. The coffee we were offered at the end of the tour was excellent.

    Great Experience!
We had a wonderful experience on this tour. We were three friends and our driver who all found the two-hour tour informative and enjoyable. Our tour guide, Elvis, was kind and knowledgeable about coffee production and the local and global history surrounding it. He was patient to answer all of our questions. He showed us every step of coffee processing right there on the farm. We also learned how to officially be coffee tasters, and were happy to purchase lots of coffee for our friends in the US. Extra bonus-beautiful surroundings and tropical flowers galore!

If you do only one thing when in Nairobi, DO THIS!
The best experience we had in Nairobi! Getting to see and learn all about coffee production, from the trees, to collecting the beans ourselves to being introduced to the factory and the roasting, it was really amazing. Our guide Elvis was really something else! He had so much knowledge about coffee and its history and was really fun and witty. Can't recommend this tour enough! If you do only one thing when in Nairobi, DO THIS!

A great way to spend time in Nairobi
This was a great way to spend a morning in Nairobi. The estate is beautiful to walk around and our guide was so friendly and kind (and very generous in taking photos of us!). We learnt a lot despite being quite knowledgeable about coffee, and we were able to ask lots of questions. The tasting was unfortunately a bit chaotic as we had a group of high school students on our tour and we had to rush the cup of coffee at the end as we had overrun the stated time and had to get back to our driver (who was also given a cup of coffee while he waited for us which was nice). Despite this the overall experience was great and we'd recommend.

A must tour when in Kenya
This was not just an amazing coffee tour, it was an experience to remember. Our guide was full of life and knowledge. His passion was contagious . One of our family members is older and needed help. Another tour guide carried a chair around so when we got to the next stop on the tour she would have a place to sit and listen. Next then coffee was amazing. I bought plenty to give away as gifts.

Great walking tour and very informative
This was an amazing experience to learn about the estate and our tour guide was excellent. He was extremely knowledgeable, friendly and just full of light. It was very informative and engaging. We walked around the estate for about 2 hours, learning about the different type of coffee beans, watching their coffee process and then the taste testing of the various coffees. Afterwards they offered coffee and cookies. I wish this place had a little coffee shop to buy sandwiches and snacks to enjoy the estate even more.

    A truly enjoyable experience
We had a great time on this tour! It was very informative and a great experience for all coffee lovers. Our guide Elvis, was very knowledgeable, even giving us personalized coffee histories according to the countries of all the people on the tour. The coffee cupping was the highlight of the experience and we truly enjoyed it. I would definitely recommend this experience. Keep up the good work!

Great to get out of the busy city for some peace. Really lovely gardens and interesting to see the coffee trees. Our group was quite big and meant it was hard to hear all the info the guide was sharing. The coffee they prepare on-site to drink is not of the standard third-wave coffee drinkers would appreciate.

Canadian review: My husband and I added this tour last minute because of a recommendation from our city guide. The cost was clear and transparent without extra hidden fees or extras. We paid a flat rate per person for the tour, then bought a bag of coffee at the end to take home with us. I personally didn’t feel any push or pressure from the staff to buy, which was so nice, but after the tasting and experience, we had to take some beans home.

The staff at Fairview are awesome. James caught us up with the tour in progress. Super nice guy. While some tours are boring and leave you reading placards created years ago, this tour was alive.

Elvis, our guide, you’ve got to meet. He was full of coffee knowledge and truly made me feel like I’ve just joined a new family. A family with people from all over the world, connected by coincidence and of course, coffee. You could see and feel the passion he has for coffee and everyone at Fairview. If you don’t care about coffee, go to Fairview to see the lush picturesque grounds and to experience the good that’s in the world. People at Fairview care about people, and they care about the planet. This is a MUST see/feel experience if you’re in Kenya. ❤️

My friend and I took the tour, and it was a lovely day spent and well worth our time. We were taken through the entire coffee process from coffee bush to the cup. That included walking through the plantation, seeing the different varieties of coffee grown, how it's harvested, dried, and processed. Finally, we had a coffee tasting session where we were taught the different types of roasts. And then served a lovely cup of coffee on the beautiful grounds. For only 1,000/- per person (for Kenyans), it's an affordable day out. The grounds are perfect too for picnicking.

Ann was an exceptional tour guide - very knowledgeable and approachable for questions. Warm and friendly personality as well. We spent about 3 hours touring the farm, including a short side trip to the small lake that stores water for irrigation during the dry season, learning about the farm's history, the coffee-growing process, the production process, and, of course, the tasting. Then we had coffee and cookies in the lovely garden after purchasing coffee beans to take home. Highly recommend! P.S. You don't really need to use a touring company. Just contact the farm directly to book your tour, then take an Uber to get there and back.

We had a really great time there, highly recommend! We saw a lot of tour providers offering tours there at trip advisor for 100-150$ excluding the entry fee (!), but you can just get there and back by uber (around 16$ both ways) and purchase the ticket for the 3 hours tour+coffee tasting on the spot. You can pay with dollars or credit card. They also have a small shop where you can buy their coffee for a really good price (at least cheaper than in Europe).

This is a beautiful property! We arrived via Uber unsure of what to expect. Ann and Elizabeth were very kind. They were immediately available for a tour.
The tour was very informative.
We saw where the coffee beans are hand-picked and how they are dried and prepared.
There was also a coffee tasting at the end as well as coffee and cookies.
It was a lovely experience.
The only reason this is 4 stars instead of 5 is because there was another family on our tour and during the tasting, no one was required to sanitize and the coffee cups were all smelled by each other. Just a little un-nerving due to COVID. But, it was fun! It also took longer than we expected, so be prepared to be there for at least 1.5-2 hours and do not wear sandals. Our tennis shoes were very muddy and there were biting ants.
We bought lots of coffee! Definitely worth the visit!

I booked a morning tour on a rainy day and it was a day very well spent! James was an excellent guide and very knowledgeable not only about the coffee process, but also the flora and fauna of the place. He was patient and engaging and very enthusiastic. I thoroughly enjoyed and bought a lot of coffee to take back for friends and family.

What a wonderful trip we had at the Fairview Coffee Estate. We saw the organized tours that were offered, but decided to book the tour directly and take an Uber to the estate. This was on our second day in Nairobi and our first time visiting Kenya. The estate was quite lovely and very peaceful. They had not only the coffee farm, but an array of beautiful fruit trees. James was our tour guide and he was amazing. James had a wealth of knowledge about coffee and its history not just in Kenya, but throughout the world. He was very personable in welcoming us to not just the estate, but to Kenya as well. I can’t say enough about how knowledgeable and wonderful he was! We would surely recommend this tour and if we ever have the opportunity we would do it again and bring our friends and family.
