Amazing set up of the trip from start to finish to the Masai Mara. We were recommended by Best Camping Tours to go and stay at a lodge, not heard on the local scene for a very long time Mara Fig Tree Camp. This is a place hidden on the banks of the Talek River. This a Hidden Gem of the Masai Mara. To our advantage, there were very few people staying here, and, awe had the entire place to ourselves. In turn we got the best and personalised service, one could wish for, 5* The driver assigned to us, what an amazing person. Patience was the virtue, and it paid off, seeing some of the most amazing scenes and views of the Game in the Masai Mara.

We just got back from a fantastic 14 day safari with Best Camping Kenya. If you are looking for a family run, personalized service, and knowledgeable staff, all at affordable prices Best Camping is the right company for you. They were recommended to us by friends that had used BC about 10 yrs ago and could not say enough good things about them. From our first contact, with Imraan, him and his team were always willing to go the extra mile to make sure we had everything we needed. They helped us in a time of crises when we landed in Tanzania instead of Kenya suggesting various options, reassurances, and assistance into the wee hours of the night. They made us feel very supported and looked after which was a huge relief and comfort. We experienced this level of personalized service throughout our time in Kenya. Our driver Joseph was incredible. He is quiet and professional and always went above and beyond to make sure we saw what we wanted to see, but also that we were comfortable no matter where we ended up. He knows his stuff! His knowledge of the environment, the animals, the accommodations, the staff at the various lodges, really made our trip that much more memorable. I would not hesitate to recommend BC to anyone interested in a safari, you can’t go wrong. We started with the BCTS 10 - 11 days safari and added a day in Tsavo West, a day at Hell’s Gate, and a day in NairobiI (2 nights in Tsavo West, 2 nights in Amboseli, 1 night in Mt-Kenya, 2 nights in Samburu, 1 night in Lake Nakuru, 3 nights in Masai Mara, 1 night in Lake Navaisha-Hell’s Gate, 1 night in Nairobi). We booked a private tour meaning it was just me and my husband. If you can afford it, this is definitely the way to go. We did and went where we wanted when we wanted. Well worth the extra cost. Here is a breakdown of good and bad on our trip: Accommodations: Because of weather we stayed in lodges/luxury camps in all parks except Masai Mara - we stayed at the BC camp site. Although it was great to hear the hippos, lions and, hyenas during the night in Masai Mara, the camp site is very basic especially after the luxury of the lodges. If we were to do it again I would stay in a lodge. Most of the other accommodations were wonderful, the food was OK/good, and the locations fantastic. Tsavo-Ngulia Lodge was good in a fantastic setting(view the watering hole from the restaurant); Amboseli-AA Lodge had no mattresses only boxsprings, I would ask for a different lodge; Mt-Kenya-Mt Kenya lodge was rundown but it is only an overnighter to get to Samburu, Samburu-Samburu lodge was fantastic with cabins right on the river and great bar overtop the crocodile filled river; Lake Nakuru-Mbweha luxury camp was the very best, absolutely fantastic; Lake Navaisha-Crescent Lodge was very beautiful but barking dogs on adjacent properties kept us up all night. Safari: If we were to do it again, we would spend at least 3 night in Samburu and Tsavo which were our favorite parks and if $ allowed 3 in Amboseli and Lake Nakuru. Exceptionally it has been raining in Masai Mara since October (they normally have a dry season in Jan to March but that just didn’t happen this year). This made the grass grow very tall which pushed prey animals out of the park onto grazed land and rendered passage on the road/tracks difficult; together this really reduced how much we could see and pushed Masai Mara way down our list of favorites. In Samburu and Tsavo in particular we got closer than I would have thought possible to elephants, leopards, giraffes, zebra, African buffalo, and so many others… Other things to consider: if it has been raining anytime close to your safari, make sure you have a 4WD vehicle. We had a 2WD which was ok in most parks but really limited our access in Masai Mara. Travel between parks takes far far longer than you would think on the distance so if you are time limited pick fewer parks. Bring with you: light weight long pants and shirt especially for Tsavo as this is the only park that has tsetse flies and bug stray does not work on them; binoculars; bug spray; 1 or 2 portable battery packs as most lodges run on generators with means you can only charge phones/cameras for a short period of time every day. This was by far the best trip we’ve had in a long time and that is largely due to BC. We will never forget our time in Kenya or the BC team.

As a family (2 adults and 2 teenagers) and with a friend, we have chosen a 6 days / 5 nights safari with 2 days Masai Mara, 1 day Lake Naivasha and 2 days Amboseli. Thanks to Ben our driver and guide, Steve our "Chef", John and Bill our guardian angels at the Masai Mara Camp, the Lake Nakuru Lodge team and the Amboseli camp team, we had a fantastic stay! Thank you of course to Imran who helped us to configure our stay as well as possible. Magnificent landscapes, superb animals and magical and unique moments. All for good value for money. We highly recommend!

We had a blast on our 7 day tour. Joe our guide was very knowledgeable and was able to answer all of our silly questions. This tour was the full package, amazing wildlife experiences as well as cultural exploration. Imraan was very helpful handling the pick ups and drops offs and answering more of our silly questions. Customer service is where "Best Camping" shines brightest, they went above and. beyond to make sure our trip was the trip of a life time !!!!! The trip of a life time is exactly what "Best Camping" provided.
