- CimmerianblokeRixensart, Belgium506 contributionsThe place is quite far up north in the city and hosts the Masai Market on Fridays. I got the Bolt app running and went to visit the place, which is in the middle of the international embassies district. The whole mall is well organised and is up to the utmost western standards. Food outlets, lots of furniture, clothes and whatnot shops all cater for the most demanding customers (understand they're quite on the expensive side). The only down for me is the distance to cover if your hotel is not close by.Visited June 2024Traveled soloWritten June 7, 2024
- CupcakekikiLeeds, United Kingdom132 contributionsWe had a spare day in Nairobi before a late flight and figured we would have a wander around somewhere to kill the time. After some googling and checking on here, we decided to take an Uber over and check it out, and we are so glad we did!! The mall is huge! I am pretty sure you wouldn't be able to see the whole thing in one day. Shops varied in price, variety and level of customer service but there seemed to be places for most budgets. I do think it is more marketed to tourists and expats as we didn't see many locals shopping in there. There is an American mall vibe to the place but this was done well. We got some lovely things at the great pop up stores which have a mix of products from local producers. There were also some great African and Kenyan brands on show as well All in all, we would highly recommend! Few reasons why it didn't get full marks: 1. There are no maps anywhere. So trying to figure out the layout and where shops/food etc were was a bit difficult 2. Vegetarian/vegan options of food is hard to findVisited April 2024Traveled with friendsWritten April 9, 2024
- Laurent CNice, France288 contributionsAfter learning about the different activities we could do to spend our last day in Nairobi, we opted for this mall. Pleasant mall to stroll through the aisles. Many cafes and restaurants to chill. Bowling, billiards, playground and gym on the high floors. A few souvenir shops but limited in number. Fairly frequented by Nairobi expats. It did the job as far as we were concerned.Visited February 2025Traveled with familyWritten February 15, 2025
- JackieShirohNanyuki Town, Kenya4 contributionsI happened to visit this spot with my oldest son and we couldn’t even cover the whole place. It’s family friendly, has great activities for kids, one can experience a great shopping experience, relaxing atmosphere, great food from different restaurants. My son enjoyed virtual reality games, we had good food shopped and went home. We still couldn’t get enough of this place so we are definitely coming back.Visited July 2024Traveled with familyWritten August 31, 2024

I thought it is a very enjoyable place only to get a Very average shopping mall that's only long with small shops. The flagship reliable store to do your shopping is Carrefour, at the very far end from parking and is not very big for shopping and doesn't offer delivery services. The few motorcycle delivery riders available who made shopping from there easier have been chased away from the mall so the only way to get stuff is to walk all along the long boring building. Parking is in a very dark and hot basement whose sewage pipes keep breaking so prepare to find your car soaked in raw sewage.

A very beautiful complex with a wonderful and distinctive design
The stores are diverse and contain many local brands
The Carrefour Association occupies a large part of it
The food court has many options and satisfies all tastes, and halal food is available, thank God

Village Market has always been a good spot to hang out, but it has also always been expensive. This time especially I was shocked by 2 factors: the timeliness of the "fast food" (it took over an hour for us to get what we ordered in the food court), and the ratio of wazungu-to-nationals. It has catered to expatriots ever since it opened, but this time especially it felt very blatant. Extra high prices, and not much room for the locals to enjoy.

Expensive, people at the stores are not very friendly compared to just about anywhere else I shopped. It’s a very aesthetically pleasing mall, but there is nothing unique or special. Prices are very high and it’s not a special experience by any means. Other street markets were more fun

The hotel is ok. Rooms are a decent size and well equipped, and wifi works throughout. However the hotel food is really bad. The menu is limited, food takes forever (we waited 55 minutes for an extremely poor burger), and despite paying for half board, when checking out we found several meals had been charged extra despite there being no mention of this when ordering.
Also the checkout process is painful - four of us checked out at the same time and it took around 45 minutes.

It's a mall with some specialty stores and lots of activities for kids who are seemingly not supervised. Clearly a place for diplomats & families given the level of guards every 10 feet and signs prohibiting any photography. That was fine. Food was pricey for the area and only so-so. We walked it once to get a walk done and I can't say for older people it was very interesting.

The Village Market at Nairobi is worth to visit, this market have a unique design with indoor & outdoor areas.
A lot of shops and different types of restaurants. There is also a Carrefour Supermarket for people who wants to do grocery or get other stuff.
I do recommend to visit this place between noon time and evening time to enjoy the place in both times and see it with the lights.

Due to circumstances, my husband and I found ourselves staying at Trademark Hotel for some time.
The Village Market undeniably caters to the diplomatic/ expat community, but I was pleased to also see many locals there also.
Prices were “high-end”, and in my opinion fair and appropriate given the location and quality.
Service was always good. Good variety of shops, service and restaurants. Clean. Safe. Very nice design / architecture for a mall. I liked the semi-open space.
I’m not sure I’d see it as a “destination” if I was visiting Nairobi (and staying elsewhere), but I was entirely satisfied with our time there. The Village Market had all that we needed and more.

The village market was more shopping mall and less Masai market as the photo leads you to believe. I went there twice, the first to be disappointed with what I discovered and the second to visit a specific store that had tucked tshirts aside for me based on an online inquiry. If you want the Masai market experience don’t go here looking for it.

Noisy because of incredible Big works on the roof. I’ve contacted management and said they can’t do anything about it. VM should be closed for Works while they want to have the money, the customer headache and their works. AVOID village market

Is there a large supermarket in the village market? I know they used to have a makumatt but my understanding is often them have closed down.

Can anyone advise - what is disabled access like at The Village Market? Thanks
Written September 16, 2018
Ramps available from the entrance into the main part of the food court for wheelchair access and to the best of my memory there's also a ramp to the upper floors very close to the stairs, hope this helps.
