Prime position over Aswan

Imposing structure looking over Aswan. An interesting story goes along with and the Aga Khan. We did not visit it but it can be clearly seen from most places in Aswan.

You can not actually apporoach the Mausoleum as it is kept private - it is a splendid building and can be seen from the Nile. The story of how the Aga Khan came to be so devoted to Aswan is very touching.

Saw this each morning from my hotel balcony and it made a very impressive and quiet view. Will be exploring more next time but it's beautiful to look at.

Ok the view from the mountain is beautiful- but you can enjoy the sight of the mausoleum from the city at night- its lit in evening and looks lovely- would not spend my time going there if you only have a short stay in Aswan.

The building is located up the hill. We did not visit it, but seen it during our boat ride. It is very iconic and can be seen from many places.

This is the Mausoleum for Aga Khan. The Aga Khan Award for Architectural Awards is also from the same family. You can reach to this mausoleum with a climb walking after sail with local boats to this bank of Nile. There is lovely love story behind it as well. Has a lovel view from opposite banks of Nile and also... More

While the story of the unfinished obelisk is interesting, I felt no need to climb the quarry for a different view of it. I will say that the vendors here were much less pushy than at other attractions. The American University in Cairo bookstore has a great selection of books and souvenirs at fair prices: no need to haggle!

This building is not open for tourists. You can only see the outside of the building and it is a sight to see sitting on its own on the hill over looking the Nile River. I don't know how close you can get to it, but you may be able to rent a camel and ride up to it, but... More
