Compared to botanical gardens in the United States, I would have equated this garden with a park setting. Not many labels and not very diverse planting seeds. Still, it was a nice felluca ride from Aswan. The only negative was the caretaker of the garden museum who kept bothering me trying to give me intonation, when I just wanted to... More

Very beautiful island with a serene garden, you can easily spend a couple of hours wandering around or simply sitting on the edge to watch the boats pass by and listen to the birds.

May be because people are accustomed to historical places as being the only type of sights to be seen in Egypt, this place is different and worth visiting. People in love with horticulture will appreciate its existence so much. I guess it could be better by more systematization, categorization and may be by supplying printed catalogues of the garden to... More

It's not much about the flowers themselves...what the book says is true, the plants are kinda managing it alone ...it is that you can bring your picnic and enjoy the shade with an amazing view on the dunes its Nice and chilled ! Share à great time with local families !

The island had a nice garden. It was relaxing when you got away from the other tourists. There were several cats living on the islands. I came across one dog. Poor thing had a terrible, oozing ear infection. It is hard to really enjoy the surroundings when an animal is suffering.

Definitely worth a short trip, combined with a felluca trip on the Nile. Very peaceful setting and cool (temperature-wise) get away. Guide not really needed.

We traveled on this site by boat a "felucca" (small sail boat) We had a wonderful ride through the Nile around Kitchener's island. But... On the way in and through out our walk through the gardens. We were followed non-stop by vendors. And there was no peace to enjoy this green space. On exit it was even worse. We were... More

This garden is located on an island on the River Nile. The garden contains trees, plants and flowers from most parts of the world. Reaching this garden is preferable using a boat either with sail or with motor. The boat ride will take you around the garden before disembarking.
