We were harassed throughout our walk in the aisles. One person in the group was insulted because she refused to buy from a vendor who started screaming and banging his jewelry against the trunk of a tree. He could be heard all over the park. We spent our time trying to dodge all the men claiming tips in exchange for a picked flower, jewelry or whatever. At the bar, the cans placed in the fridge were dirty and not to mention the dirt of the straws given. Infernal....

We were on a Nile cruise and while in Aswan we went visiting the botanical garden. It is located on one of the islands and you can easily find boats to bring you there. We were impressed by the large diversity of trees, plants and flowers bur also of the birds songs while walking on the alleys.

Aswan Botanical Garden is a stunning oasis on Kitchener's Island, perfect for nature lovers and anyone seeking tranquility. The diverse collection of exotic plants and trees creates a lush, vibrant atmosphere. Walking through the well-maintained paths, you can enjoy beautiful views of the Nile and spot various bird species. The garden's rich history adds to its charm, making it a delightful escape from the bustling city. It’s an ideal spot for a leisurely stroll, photography, or simply relaxing in nature. Overall, Aswan Botanical Garden offers a unique experience that beautifully showcases the region's botanical diversity—highly recommended!

I have visited botanical gardens all over the world and at different times of the year. This one was the worse one as far as it being in very bad condition. Yes, the walkways for the most part are ok, but there is debris everywhere and when you arrive via boat, the only way to get to it since it is an island, it is difficult to get off the boat and onto the island and vice versa. I was lucky in that my guide knew the person running the place so we had a private tour with my guide translating what this man said so I understood what I was looking at. There were a ton of interesting birds to see here and we were the only folks here on the day we visited. It took approximately 30 mins each way via boat from my river cruise ship to get here and back. If I had known ahead of time what it would look like I don't know if I would have gone. My guide informed me that I would have a nice breeze while on the river in the boat, boy was he wrong. The wind was like when you are baking something in the oven and open it, but it lasted for 30 mins. I was worried I would burn my face so I kept turning my head this way and that. It was really cool to see the huge sand dunes and the new area being excavated near the edge of the river.

I was hoping to enjoy this place in peace but there are just way too many people when I visited. I can’t even find a nice place to sit down that’s not around bunch of people. I also find this botanical garden way too small. I was hoping to stay here for about 2 hours but I finished walking around the entire place within 30 min. I have visited much nicer botanical gardens before so I don’t think it’s worth it at all.

I enjoyed my short visit here, reached it via a boat. Entrance fee is 70 EGP per person. There are many huge trees that provide shades from the very hot sun. Benches are located along the paved walkways, making it eaasier to sit down here and enjoy the ambience.

Highly recommended to visit.

Getting there by a boat with an interesting guide will likely allow for the time to learn about the history of Aswan Botanical Garden and its founding father Lord Kitchener.
El Nabatat Island or Kitchener's Island is a kilometer times half a kilometer in size, easy to explore on foot.
The botanical garden is a great place for the entire family.

We were on a traditional group tour of Cairo and the Nile River and were told that besides some beautiful flowers the island was great for birders. They were correct! We went over on a felucca and spent about 45 minutes walking from one end to the other. We saw about 15 species that we had not previously seen in Egypt and were even able to capture several great photos of the birds.

I asked my private guide to take me to this garden because of the good reviews and specifically the birding. We walked the length of the park, camera with telephoto in hand, ready for the action but there was not much to see, at least that day. I did not see many birds and the plants/trees were not well displayed and organized as I expected. Based on my experience I would not recommend this park. I did see a lot of birds on our way to the Nubian village, which I really enjoyed.

We had high hopes for the Botanic gardens at Aswan- but what a disappointment! We found rubbish strewn over the gardens and a succession of sales people approaching us frequently trying to sell trinkets and souvenirs. We found bougainvillea, amaryllis, gerbera, salvias and some gorgeous mahogany trees – but actually not much colour. It could have been so much better – and so much better looked after too.
