While touring we stopped at Animalia on Elephantine - and got a very nice overview of Nubian Culture at the small quaint museum. A worthwhile detour.

First thing: the price is 40 EGP (not 20 like it says in the lonely planet which by the way, it has not been updated for the last years), the money is totally worth it. You will get a free tea included in the visit...More

It is quite difficult to get here but once you do, a local explains the African culture and the history of the island. Great guide and the price is reasonable!!
