I have been to Egypt twice however my last visit in January 2020 was the first time that I was able to visit this memorial. Shaped as a Lotus flower, the monument features artwork on the inside walls that are easily identifiable as either ancient Egyptian or Soviet era. The differences in style create a interesting juxtaposition behind the engineering of the two eras. The artwork is in base relief and can be difficult to see at time however, by moving around until the play of light and shadows will open up the artwork to the viewers eyes. I found the memorial a very nice place with a good view of the Nile. It only takes a short while to visit but the effort is worth it.

A beautiful place to visit at the High Dam, Aswan Egypt. Visited it on 29/11/2023 immediately after deboarding from an EgyptAir flight from Cairo to Aswan. This large monument is located near the Aswan High Dam and honors Russian-Egyptian friendship. The USSR was instrumental in the dam's construction during the 1960s, providing financial support, technicians, and heavy equipment. The monument is in the shape of a Lotus flower which is a symbol of ancient Egypt.

This was built to commemorate the help Russia provided to Egypt by constructing the Aswan Dam to control and store Nile River.

A stop for photos and a close look at the frescoes inside the monument are enough to visit this monument! If you want, you can climb to the top of the monument with an elevator and see the dam from above!

Don't need to spend much time here. It is a monument to the friendship between Russia and Egypt in building the High Dam in Aswan

The memorial is visible from the Aswan High Dam on a low rise to the west as you look up river from the dam's wall. Time did not allow me to visit it, but from afar, it is an impressive structure.

Should remind the world, if your present friends turn you down, you will try to get new friends to help out. Can change relationships for decades.

The Russia Egypt Friendship Memorial was built to commemorate the help the Soviet Union gave to Egypt to construct the Aswan High Dam. It was originally named the Soviet Union Egypt Friendship Memorial but was renamed after the Soviet Union broke up. It is in the shape of a lotus and is located at the west end of the High Dam. It is interesting but not worth than a ten minute photo opportunity.

Impressive without anything more... but no, thanks to the few industrial archeological pieces worth a visit to or from your High Dam visit.

This is a beautiful piece of achitecture, but seemed out of place with all the Egytian atiquities. I would recommend a driveby visit only.
