The Great Pyramid!

The Great Pyramid - the largest of the three Pyramids - is literally Huge in proportions. One has no option but to think as to how this was constructed over 3000 years ago!

Difficult to find a guide who knew what he was talking about. All of them wanted to sell rides and had no idea of their own history. Locals just standing all over the place claiming that you need to tip them in order to proceed. Some of them grabbed me by the arm or jabbed me for not tipping them.

The people there were very polite and welcoming. The place is very spread out and lots of walking. Watch out for the vendors. They can be very pushy. Best if you are not looking do not make eye contact, then they tend to leave you after 10-20 steps. No...does not help. The camel ride behind the pyramids is fun and... More

It was absolutely fabulous to see this in person and to be able to climb inside the pyramid to the Kings and Queen chambers and thru the great Gallery

Just to be there... to gaze at it.... the enormity... the past.... to convince yourself that YES!... you really are there ... touching, seeing, experiencing the Great Pyramid of Khufu! Find a spot to sit. Stare at it. Drink it all in. Ignore the hawkers trying to sell you trinkets. Just look at it. You really need to burn the... More

If you have the chance pay the 200 LE (roughly $20 at current exchange rate). The pyramid is worth it, just to be inside. The climb is relatively hard and if you are claustrophobic it is probably not a good idea. It used to be single file up and down the ramps and stairs but now you might encounter a... More

As I said in my review of the pyramids of Sakkara, the amazing thing was the bus ride and seeing the view along the way! People in traditional dress and riding donkeys, it was like going way back in time. I'm glad I got to see the pyramids in real life. But all of the many, many very aggressive vendors... More
