Enjoyed my views of this Pyramid !
On Day 1 of my visit of Giza/Cairo attractions, this was one of the pyramids that I visited. Located next to it is the Khufu Pyramid. Entrance fee to the areas where the pyramids are located is 360 EGP or about 12 US $. I had 4 great days in Giza where I could see and watch this pyramid and that of Khufu from the windows of my Guesthouse located accross from it. Enjoyed mingling with the locals here, no rushings like in a Group Tour.

Second largest of the Pyramids of Giza
Khafre’s Pyramid is the second largest of the Pyramids of Giza. This entire complex is hard to comprehend. I’ve seen photos since I was a child and I never thought I would get to see them in person. But my wife and I booked a two week tour of the Nile and Egypt this past December. The trip was phenomenal. One of the best trips of our life. After seeing them, it is still hard to understand how they were constructed.

    Ancient Times
Standing in the shadow of Khafre's Pyramid, we marveled at the architectural marvel that stood as a testament to ancient craftsmanship. The precision with which the massive stones were fitted together left us in awe, pondering the ingenuity of the ancient Egyptians who erected this monumental structure. Ascending the pyramid, hand in hand, we reveled in the breathtaking panoramic views that unfolded. The vast desert stretched before us, creating a stark yet beautiful contrast to the age-old structure beneath our feet. The Giza Plateau revealed its mysteries, and the Sphinx added an enigmatic touch to the landscape. As we explored the inner chambers of Khafre's Pyramid, the air thick with history, we felt a profound connection to the past. The hieroglyphs and chambers whispered tales of ancient pharaohs and their enduring legacies, transporting us to a bygone era.

Great first stop to experience Egypt!!
LOVED IT! Great first stop in Egypt! Have sunglasses, and maybe a hat or scarf. There are no shelters for shade like other sites. Glad we had a guide and driver. Our guide, Yasser Samir, was great at explaining the significant facts and historical and cultural context. That, paired with the reality of being there, made the pyramids extra special. It can be a lot of walking without a driver, especially if you want to see other pyramids on site. Camel rides are available for purchase and there are wandering merchants selling hats, scarves, postcards, stamps, fans, etc. Sometimes the sales techniques can get a bit aggressive and Yasser helped reinforce our messages as needed, which we appreciated. There is a special section for climbing on the Great pyramid, too. An additional ticket can be purchased to go inside.

One of the big Three on the Giza Plateau, Khafre's Pyramid is part of the whole "must see" Giza experience. As I say in all my Giza reviews- Don't let the chaos bring you down, as it is part of the experience.

As the second largest, the Pyrmid is open again, which is great. It is worth going inside- not hugely exciting, but our kids really felt like it was an adventure. It is worth taking some tme walkinga round and seeing the light on each side for photos and to really think what it took to build these.

As other have said, bring your book and ignore the "guides" or others trying to look like they are helping, but really looking to shake you down. They take advantage of human nature- a stern "No" goes a long way.

Although this is the 2nd largest of the 3 great pyramids at Giza, it is nevertheless a most impressive site to behold. I was fortunate enough to be able to visit the interior of this one (it being considerably cheaper than to see the inside of the Pyramid of Cheops). Not much inside, and quite an awkward crouch required to enter. Exterior is of course the main highlight.

The middle pyramid at Giza was built for 4th dynasty pharaoh Khafre (Chephren), the son of Khufu, around 2540 BC. It appears to be taller than his father’s pyramid, but that’s only because it was built on bedrock that is 33 ft (10 m) higher. Khafre’s Pyramid is also distinct because the peak is still capped with a white limestone casing. Originally all three of the Giza pyramids were covered with polished white stone. Through the centuries, the casing was repurposed for use in mosques and palaces.

Always wanted to see the Pyramids and we’ve decided to go in Nov 2020. Because of the pandemic, there weren’t many tourists there. I’ll say there were more vendors and camels than tourists! Camel rides are US$ 20 per person. Pyramid is beautiful and just amazing to see in person!

Khafre the second son of Khufu (first son Djedafre of the now ruined pyramid at Abu Rawash), built his pyramid on a higher piece of ground to that of his father. Although smaller the higher ground gives the pyramid the impression that it is higher. Not as well made as Khufu's pyramid, it still is an awesome sight to behold. The temple that is situated near to the pyramid is the most intact of any of the three pyramids temples as part was made from the actual bedrock. As with all of the Giza plateau - a must see sight.

So you're staring at Khufu's pyramid and you turn around and then you'll see this one.
You can't miss either of them. They're humongous.
This one looks bigger though, but it's not really. It's just on higher ground. It's also got a steeper angle to it. But that doesn't make it any less impressive. The limestone cap really draws your attention.

Walk up close and check out the giant sections of stone (and be happy you didn't have to do any heavy lifting). Travel around the complex and various view points to see the pyramids in all their imposing glory.

Wonderful Place to visit, especially for children. Make sure you book the pyramid entrance ticket at the ticket office before entering the site. Also, avoid Fridays and national holidays as it gets so busy and you may end up queuing for hours.

Though it was a cold windy day the pyramids were truly ' awesome'. What spoiled the experience was the aggressive behaviour of the touts crowded the base of the pyramids. In some cases it was just easier to pay them to go away. This is disappointing as the Egyptian people were friendly and welcoming everywhere.

It was an amazing place! Our guides were very nice and knowledgeable. The only set back were the camels. They should have animal pooh pouches on them. They smell so bad it makes the entire place unsanitary. I know that it’s a natural thing, but it can be a better place to visit without the camel’s pooh.
