Given James Bond attended the exact same show at Giza in the 1977 film « The Spy Who Loved Me » - it’s fair to say, this performance has not aged well.
The narrator sounds like Winston Churchill and the story itself is painfully pompous and devoid of irony or fun. That said, if you take the show for what it is - a relic of a bygone era - it’s an entertaining enough hour. I found it genuinely hysterical in places thanks to the crashing, dramatic music that causes the pyramids to turn purple and green, and the sphinx to embark on a monologue about how Cleopatra, Julius Caesar and Napoleon used to sit at his feet. All made even funnier by someone driving up and down the road next to the pyramids with his lights on, and people openly walking out of the show in disgust. I wouldn’t have missed it for the world! :-) But if you don’t like Bond, plummy voices, and high drama you will find it excruciating.

Frankly, was disappointed! Had heard a lot about this, but the actual show was a bit of a letdown.

We went there by a large bus. This is located within narrow streets, so had to walk a bit to reach the venue. Huge crowd! Got good seats and got my first view of the famous Giza Pyramids!

The show started on time and went on for about 40 minutes. The Pyramids and the Sphinx were illuminated with lights at different points of the show. There was a flat piece of rock where some images with displayed. And, of course, a narration in English that tried to explain the history behind the Pyramids and the Egyptian Empire.

The narrative was not great. The sound was unclear and the story was rambling at times. And too many Pharaohs and Queens were mentioned. For someone unfamiliar with ancient Egyptian history, it became confusing to track all these names! The lighting was also mediocre. And there was a (public?) road between the Pyramids, where the show was taking place. And vehicles, with bright headlights on, passing regularly! Disturbing!

The location is fantastic, the Pyramids one of the Wonders! With a little more effort, I feel this show could be made brilliant!

Tips - the seats up front are the best! And do take a light jacket across. Breezy in the evenings. Paid toilets available.

The show is very old, probably made 20yrs ago and never changed. At times like this, you want to go to the main 7 pm show since you have a high chance of the other shows being canceled. There were only 20 people. The show was in Arabic as most people there were local but you can get a free headset to hear the English. I wouldn't say the show is worth the 300LE, but if you want to see the pyramids lit up at night, I guess this is the only way. I had a very late flight and just needed to kill time at night.

This was the dumbest thing I have ever seen. It’s a tape of some old Hollywood Star like Vincent Price telling some old Pharaoh stories. It’s long and boring. I would have liked to seen the Pyramids lighted up and then left in 10. Worst of all this con artist photographer offered to take a pic of us and the demanded 20 dollars.

Very outdated show. Terrible sound quality and bad light quality. The chairs are super uncomfortable and they oversold tickets for premium seats. People are walking around and make the experience even worse.

Show with fairly trivial lights and rather long historical explanation. Unacceptable the descent of cars from the road next to the pyramid that with their headlights have nothing to do with the show. Overall not recommended even in relation to the asking price.

A terribly outdated and old school show. It would be high time to see it again. Above all, don't pay to go. If you're really tempted, take advantage of a nearby roof terrace that many bars and hotels offer at no extra cost to the price of a drink.

Really disappointing! Purchased a VIP SEAT and its totally not worth it. We were waiting for lights but its all sounds and mostly a Pitch dark stage for the first 10 mins or almost the entire show! I almost fell asleep in my chair. Such a waste, and all the cars passing by , a complete distraction. This is just like listening to an audio book! There is absolutely no light show to see. I felt scammed.

Really old sound system sometimes you couldn’t even understand what was being said. Very boring to be honest, we left half way through the show. I was expecting lots of lights but it’s very basic and definitely isn’t worth more than 5£ (being generous)

I was staying across the street at the Great Pyramid Inn and had decided before arriving to go and see the show on my first day however, a 22 hour flight put paid to that idea. The next day after visiting Dahshur, Saqaarra, Memphis and Giza plateau, I decided to attend the show. Thankfully I rugged up prior to crossing the street. As it was winter, there were plenty of seats at the first show which was in English; so I sat as close to the front as I could.

The show consists of the Great sphinx retelling the history of the Giza plateau dealing with the god kings of the forth dynasty in the first half. A general history thereafter in the second half features later pharaohs, Julius Caesar and Napoleon.

I had seen the show from my hotel, but the experience of being close to the show outweighed the cold of the night. To see these mighty pyramids lit up is inspiring.

Tips for winter:
Wrap up in warm clothing especially if there is a wind blowing
Have a hot drink before coming and one straight after
Sit as close to the front as you can
