The show is very old, probably made 20yrs ago and never changed. At times like this, you want to go to the main 7 pm show since you have a high chance of the other shows being canceled. There were only 20 people. The show was in Arabic as most people there were local but you can get a free headset to hear the English. I wouldn't say the show is worth the 300LE, but if you want to see the pyramids lit up at night, I guess this is the only way. I had a very late flight and just needed to kill time at night.

The Pyramids Light Show is expensive, and known to be dated and kinda corny- But, it is part of the experience. We couldn't bring ourselves to spend the money on the show, but there are several rooftop restaurants serving dinner and drinks where you can enjoy "the show".

Not sure our party of seven would have enjoyed the official seating, but we enjoyed the show at the Pyramid Hotel rooftop restaurant and bar with appetizers and drinks (not overpriced!) and they even brought out blankets when we looked cold!

Instead of paying 300le(oct 21 price), we went to rooftop restaurant across from the sphinx and saw the show for free. Of course food and beverage at these places is way overpriced, due to location. I still think it is a better deal and actually better view of the show. The audio is difficult to understand, speaker systems are old and scratchy. But the lighting effects on the pyramids is memorable. Bring up high on a rooftop is an excellent perspective. You don't need a tour for this, just take a cab or uber to sphinx and walk into any of the hotels nearby.

I was staying across the street at the Great Pyramid Inn and had decided before arriving to go and see the show on my first day however, a 22 hour flight put paid to that idea. The next day after visiting Dahshur, Saqaarra, Memphis and Giza plateau, I decided to attend the show. Thankfully I rugged up prior to crossing the street. As it was winter, there were plenty of seats at the first show which was in English; so I sat as close to the front as I could.

The show consists of the Great sphinx retelling the history of the Giza plateau dealing with the god kings of the forth dynasty in the first half. A general history thereafter in the second half features later pharaohs, Julius Caesar and Napoleon.

I had seen the show from my hotel, but the experience of being close to the show outweighed the cold of the night. To see these mighty pyramids lit up is inspiring.

Tips for winter:
Wrap up in warm clothing especially if there is a wind blowing
Have a hot drink before coming and one straight after
Sit as close to the front as you can

It's an obsolete lights show which doesn't make sense nowadays. It's totally a rip off even if you go by yourself, even worst if through a travel agent.
It's a Ben-hur style music with theatrical conversations along the show, it takes you back to 50 or 60 years ago, when just a colored light on a monument seemed so cool.

Definitely it's something I recommend to avoid. It's better to spend that money or something else.

Egypt it's a very expensive country, which prices don't match the quality. The destination it's amazing however it's way over priced, like this lights show.

Our guide took us the the Sound & Light show almost one hour early. Although we were not able to sit in the audience for the Arab language show at 6 pm, we were able to see enough of the show from the distant seating area to understand how much or how little lighting was used at different times of the show which lasts about 45 minutes. Once we were allowed in for the 7 pm show, seating was not a problem. As I was interested in photography, I elected to roam around especially on the right side, where there is a wide outside aisle. The sound show provided a good overview of history. Different pyramids, the Sphinx and the wall in front were lit up in synch with the story. The finale at the end was spectacular. I was pleased with the photo results, taken hand held with an ISO of 10,000. It was an excellent way to start our visit to Cairo, as we then saw the Sphinx and the pyramids up close the very next morning!

I saw the James Bond movie the Spy Who Loved Me back in the 1970's and it inspired us to do this tour. I thought it was great . Just like the movie. I guess the presentation has not changed in 50 years. Highly recommend.

For wheelchair users or those needing a flat surface to walk on the entrance is easy to get to and there are plenty of seats.

It is about an hour's drive from most hotels in Cairo. If you want to snack during the show, your guide can stop in Giza for a bag of snacks at your expense.

double check the schedule. Everywhere I looked, it stated that the show was daily, however it was on only 2 of the 4 nights i spent here.

Might be because its low season (January). From what I saw (from the hotel) its pretty amazing seeing the pyramids lit up, but you can see it from pretty much everywhere, so why bother parting with USD 20. You can even hear the narrator (sounds like something from a sixties monster movie). I cant quite figure out what the ticket is for.

Pyramids looks cool when lit up, but just have a dinner or a drink on one of the rooftops. Waste of money.

One family should be treated the same , no. Egyptian and foreigners , as my wife is Irish someone there insisted she must pay for foreign ticket, told him they didn’t let her pay for visa at the airport as she’s my wife , in the end he let us watch the show without headphones, so ended up no one of my kids or wife and myself and sister understand the show . It was a very bad experience as everyone was looking forward for the show .

Very dated and underwhelming. Needs to be completely redone. Don’t expect lasers or excitement. Just illumination of the pyramids and antiquated British voice actors pretending to be the pharaohs. With all the work the country is dumping into places like the Grand Egyptian Museum, this could be a really good thing if redone.
