I first came to Maadi earlier this year to meet friends. Its a vibrant suburb of Cairo with leafy avenues radiating from the centre. There are plenty of shops, restaurants, banks, churches, mosques, places to sit and watch the world go by. Maadi has two Metro stations linking to Downtown Cairo and other parts with frequent service up to 1am. Lots of foreigners have made their home here as it is possible to live cheaply and comfortably. All the locals seem to get on well together whatever their backgrounds. So security is no big issue.

Visited here many times. It is one of the smaller malls, I am happy to say, and offers a large Carrefour in the store.
Again it has many European shops that you can find in the other malls. It is more manageable and on one level...phew!
Free parking which is a bonus as always.

Maadi is the place with all the action. From local Egyptian street stands to designer boutique clothing stores, Maadi is the area to take a stroll in Cairo- just be sure you're aware of your surroundings. There is so much going on that one could easily find themselves just missing being hit by a taxi. But it's part of the fun 😊

Ordered online through the app for the following day.
Delivery drivers called me several times through the day but the shopping didn't arrive.
The delivery time kept changing to the final time of 10.30pm. It should have arrived any time between 3 amd 9pm.
Will never order through Carrefour app again. I waited in all day for the shopping to arrive.
I called Customer Services and told them to cancel. He said it will take 3 to 14 days before I am refunded.
Will never order again.

Maadi is one of several great Cairo neighborhoods. Maadi was and still is a place of distinctive gardens, and trees embracing most of the private homes, and small appartment houses that dot this place near the River Nile.
Maadi is a popular destination for folks from Cairo as well as for the expatriate community in the city. There are many restaurants, and interesting shops selling beautiful locally crafted items. In addition ot restaurants serving local delicacies, there are a number of Asian, Chinese and Japanese eateries, Italian bakeries and restaurants, and even a delicious Spanish restaurant. In spite of the loss of international community, Maadi still houses many foreigners who work or teach in Cairo, and who love living in this part of the city.
In Maadi it is also easy to catch a felluca on the Nile and enjoy and beautiful ride on the river.

We came here with our 3 young children to just chill out. The food court was lovely and clean, choice of food from Asian corner, to fries with various toppings, McDonald’s, kfc, Hardees, Chilis, dessert places etc.

All your high street shops like Carrefour, H&M, Zara.

Men’s and ladies prayer rooms with ablution facilities and cover ups provided in ladies room.

There is also an arcade game room type thing for kids.

It has a Carrefoure mega store, some shops selling clothes and perfumes, some cafes and restaurants and book stores. A nice place to buy your needs, but if you are coming from outside egypt I do not recommend that you buy international brands, as they are subject to hefty customs and taxes.

The centre of Maadi is unlike any other part of Cairo , it started as a green suburb some 15 Km. south of the City consisting of Villas only, each with large gardens , with Tree lined roads and a canal bringing Nile river water to irrigate them, but " progress " caused
some Villas to be replaced by apartment blocks, furtunaitly limited to four stories high with good architecture . Here you can see how pleasant living in Maadi was, and why progress is not Llways a good thing !

Maadi City Centre Mall on the Ring Road is a convenient one-stop shop and leisure venue with free, ample parking and ramps/ shopping trolley access. A large Carrefour megamarket, opening at 9am, is a major attraction, along with many fashionable clothing and shoe boutiques (e.g. Zara, Dalydress, Crocs, and Nine West). Restaurants now include La Brioche Doree, Chili's, Cilantro, Starbucks, Pinkberry, Auntie Anne's, Cinnabon and Cafe Supreme, as well as a spacious food court with all the major fast food names. Some eateries open at 9 am for breakfast, including La Brioche Doree, which is highly recommended, with great chefs and attentive service. Eggs Benedict and /or full English breakfast, as well as the most mouthwatering French pastries ever, and many fresh juices and fine coffees, were highlights.

You can dine along the eternal Nile by day or night, stroll through shady residential areas, do some shopping, even opt for a hi rise hotel with the river view here in Maadi, a mature exurb laid out by the British who gave it gardens, a unique street pattern and some classy old apartment buildings. Shabby in many areas, but pretty safe, and with much less city hubbub than central Cairo. Maadi is a great choice for those planning longer stays in Cairo, who want an Egyptian feel without the crush of central Cairo. Helwan is close by as is New Maadi. And one never tires of seeing the Nile here.
