it's a walking distance from Khan El Khalili. Every Sat, Mon&Wed from 7:30 to 8:30 only $30 Egyptian Pounds (less than $5). I been there twice and it is unbelievable . You have to be there before 7 pm to find a ticket.

Beautiful colours and music, and how that guy spun around for 40 mins without stopping I have no idea!, but a little long and loud at times (he claims he wasn't, but my boyfriend looked bored towards the end)

Amazing experience ditto what others have said. Took our 8 and 11 year old children who were dubious after being dragged around various other Cairo sites. They thought is was even better than the pyramids . . . And all of us were totally uplifted by the dancing which nearly didn't happen due to a power cut in the area. Well worth the money- prepare to be amazed!

A performance by the Al-Tannoura Dance Troupe is a must see for visitors to Cairo looking to go beyond the typical tourist experience. At 8PM on Wednesdays and Saturdays these Sufi Whirling Dervishes perform at the marvelously perserved Medieval caravanserai Wikala al-Ghauri in Islamic Cairo's Khan al-Khalili market. The hour-long show features traditional music, singing and dancing. The experience is mesmerizing and moving - these are performers, but the spiritual origins of the dance is palpable. The show used to be free but now costs 30LE (about 5USD) for foreigners - still a steal for the quality of the experience. We arrived at 6:30 in order to secure a seat.

This is one of the best experiences I ever had in Egypt. This is a state of the art Sufi dance show, and it's free! The Sufis are an ancient mystic cult within Islam that dances to bring themselves in a state of trance to be closer to God, and the rest of us gets to enjoy watching the beautiful, colorful and rhythmic ceremony. The location is very central in Cairo off Khan Al-Khalili, so make sure to plan a visit to the show. Get there early for front row seats. I won't say more about it, it has to be experienced :)

Seems no tourists know about this traditional show in Cairo we were the only foreigners there. This dervish show is very professional, both musicians, singer and dancers are at the top.
Twice a week, no reservation, go one hour before they start to get the best seat.

Though there is very little information online and was challenging to confirm its still running, i made it. I went on a monday and there was no que. Arriving half an hour before start time (7:30, not 8!) will suffice to secure reasonably positioned seats. The show runs for about 75 mins and is quite remarkable. One of the highlights of my visit.
Finding it is not very easy..get your hotel staff to write the venue name in arabic to show the taxi driver (five mins from downtown).. Even when u get there u might have to ask around, or consult with the map on lonely planet which pinpoints it.

This is an amazing display of Egyptian music and dance performance. The show is of 1 hour 15 minutes and it starts with a music performance and then moves to Tanura dance. The entire dance performance is from male dancers but it goes on for almost 30 minutes which is very exhausting for the dancer. I have seen many Tanura dances before but this one is really the best I have see till date. A must watch with family members.

I had a friend visiting from the UK last November, and someone suggested that we go see the Tanoura show.
I wasn't pumped about it, but I definitely should have been. The show takes place every Monday and Wednesday from 7 PM in Wekalet El Ghoury, and what an amazing event it is!
Tickets are only sold 1 hour before the event, so it is advisory to go at that time and get your tickets, as well as wait in your seats, because the tickets don't guarantee a chair (you might end up sitting on the ground around a fountain, not very comfortable). It fills up fast!
The show costs 30 EGP for foreigners, and it's totally worth it.
If you enjoy percussions, singing, dancing and colors, (let's face it, who doesn't?) this is something you have to see!
I want to do it over and over again.

This show is in a beautiful old building and is great to take visitors to. The ticket door is open at 7 and they sell more tickets than there are seats, so you need to get your seat early (7.30 was fine for us). The music is fantastic and it's all good value, although not something you want to see over and over again. It can get a little warm, bring something to use as a fan.

I would like to know where the show takes place? Do I need to reserve in advance?
Thanks.

Is the show still running on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays?
Written August 19, 2015
Hi -
When I was in Cairo about a month ago, I know it was running on Wednesdays. I am pretty certain there is NOT a show on Tuesdays, but besides that, I can't say for sure what nights they perform. Sorry I can't be of more help.
