Dec 2019 • Family
We, a family of three, booked 10 days trip to Egypt through the Egypt Tours Portal in end-December 2019. For the first three days we were in Cairo and visited Egyptian Musuem, Giza Pyramid complex, Memphis city and the city of Alexandria. Our stay was arranged in the Steigenberger El Tahirir which was excellent. We also enjoyed one evening by the side of Nile.
On the fourth day, we flew to Aswan and met our tour guide Mr. Omar Haridi at the airport. Right from the word go, we fell for his charm.
As is the practice of ETP, they assigned an Egyptologist for every leg of the tour. Omar has done his homework very well and started from the very basic of the Egyptian history. He took a piece of napkin and went on to write everything for us to read up in leisure. During the next four days, we visited the High Dam, Philae temple and the unfinished Obelisk in Aswan, Abu Simble temple, Kom Ombo, Edfu, Kanrak and Hatshesput temples as also the Valley of Kings in and en route Luxor. To make our visits to these monuments truly memorable, Omar narrated all the background stories behind each of these monument in details. It helped us in connecting with these memorials very well.
Mr Omar was not only highly knowledgeable and an authority in his field, he had a nice sense of humour and became friend with us very easily. We will cherish the memories with Mr Omar for a long long time.
Our trip ended with a 2 nights stay at Hurghada on the Red Sea. Again here the stay at Continental Hurghada was excellent. Our only repent was that our stay there was cut short by a few hours due to cancellation of a later flight by the Egypt Air though we paid an extra 20 USD each for this benefit.
Overall, we had an excellent trip of Egypt - Thank you very much Egypt Tours Portal and Mr. Mohamad and Ms Shrouk for making all the arrangements as promised and promptly responding to all our queries before and during the tour. We would highly recommend ETP and the tour guide Omar (in Aswan- Luxor) whenever you plan to visit Egypt.

We recently completed our 11 day private tour organised by ETP, visiting Cairo, Aswan, Luxor, Cairo and Alexandria. The planning and booking process with ATP was very good, they were responsive with helping us customise and assess various options for our tour. We never felt pressured to commit, and compared to other tour companies I think they have a very flexible and reasonable payment schedule regarding payment of the remaining tour fees only after our arrival in Egypt.

We actually didn't end up deviating much from ETP's original itinerary for their historical tour, and at the end of it we felt the selection of sites, including some off the main tourist trails, were just right. During the tour our guides were also very accommodating of our last minute changes to the itinerary to work around weather and logistics schedule.

Our guides themselves were all very professional and knowledgeable, spoke good english, friendly. Our guides were Essam (Cairo/Alexandria), Ahmed (Aswan) and Mohammed (Luxor and surrounding area). The guides were accompanied by separate drivers, who were also very professional, and the vehicles themselves were new and comfortable. We always felt looked after, even during transfers between hotels, airports, train stations. The hotels chosen by ETP were usually among the top tier ones available in the city. The restaurants we were taken to during the tour were also good, clean and varied. When it came to visiting local craft shops, our guides simply offered suggestions of places we could stop off at and we never felt pressured to have to make them, or buy anything. On most occasions it was nice to see local artisans at work, and were also a welcome break/pit stop.

Overall, we had a great vacation and we would definitely recommend a private tour ETP, especially if you think you want the extra time to see and learn about the magnificent history and archeology that Egypt has to offer! The only feedback that I would suggest to ETP is to provide some small booklet/cheat sheet of Egyptology....just to make it easier for first time visitors to Egypt, as one can quickly get overwhelmed initially with all the information about the different dynasties and gods! :)

We just returned from a fantastic 7 day tour of Egypt. Egypt Tours Portal made everything very easy and we felt safe the entire trip. The best part was that we made a new friend in Egypt who has made us want to return and spend more time in his country.

ETP was in constant contact with us from the start and helped us create an itinerary that worked with what we wanted to see along with our travel dates. We were able to make additional customizations throughout the process, like upgrading to a luxury nile cruise. Even with not many cruises operating, they were able to accommodate our needs. We had 2 adults and 2 kids and the VIP experience started when we flew into Cairo and they helped us navigate getting through passport control, getting our bags and then off to the hotel.

The next day we flew to Aswan and this is where we met our new friend Mahmoud Nour. Mahmoud was our tour guide for Aswan and Luxor, but he quickly became our friend. Our 15 year old son felt very comfortable with Mahmoud and enjoyed telling him stories. Mahmoud was able to bring the stories and the history of ancient Egypt to life and we could tell that he loved what he was teaching and that he was constantly learning so that he could share his knowledge with others. Our favorite parts of the tour were when we had the chance to just sit and talk with Mahmoud to find out about his family, his faith, and his country. We had a few different opportunities to just spend time talking with Mahmoud to tell him about America and then to hear about life in Egypt. When we asked everyone in our family what their favorite part of the trip was, we all agreed it was taking a city tour of Luxor at night and then sitting in a coffee shop. We had so much fun spending time in a personal surrounding with Mahmoud that we didn't want it to end. But unfortunately it did. If you get a chance to take a city tour of Luxor, I highly recommend it. We felt that it was important to see how people live and to see that they aren't any different from us.

After Luxor we then flew back to Cairo and were able to see the pyramids, the Egyptian museum, and to also do a tour of old Cairo. We didn't enjoy Cairo as much as we did Luxor since it was busier, but it was enjoyable to see many of the sites there.

When we come back to Egypt we definitely want to spend more time in Luxor, go to Hurghada, and see Alexandria. We look forward to planning another trip to Egypt in the future and staying in contact with our new friend.

I would highly recommend using Egypt Tours Portal for your Egypt trip, and if you go to Aswan and Luxor, I definitely recommend requesting Mahmoud Nour as your Egyptologist. You won't be disappointed.

We a group of 3 couples visited Cairo & took the trip organized by Egypt tours portal. We stayed at Steinbergers pyramids hotel in Giza. On first day we were taken for a lunch at a restaurant where we were told that all beverages are to be paid by us and that included water. We were charged exorbitantly for water bottles. On raising objections it was found that the restaurant had two menu cards .One for normal walk in customers with normal rates and one with double the prices for customers accompnied by tour guide. So we were charged double amount at every meal provided by the tour operator.
We were always offered a fixed menu for food chosen by the guide whatever it was.
We wanted to do some shopping in normal local markets but the guide will not tell us anythingc about it. He would take us to stores where we were given numbered cards for shopping and quoted fantastic prices. With those cards the guide could come back later and get his cut from the shops.
I feel such tour operators should be avoided by everyone so that one is not cheated despite paying the asking price to the tour operator and even choosing a five star hotel stay.

I believe 1500+ EXCELLENT reviews are enough to proof the service quality we offer to our guests. What beverages you are talking about and evaluate a full service for a bottle of water???!!!, You show up to the whole world your way of thinking. We always offer the best possible services to our guests and never cheat them. We commit to each word we mention in our tour itineraries and all of our guests witness on this so kindly don't come now and speak about a bottle of water......Why didn't you mention the special services you got from our side, the best possible 5* Hotels we chose for you, the best Egyptologist tour guides we have provided for you, and more. Wish you all the best.

My daughter and I just returned from a trip Egypt. It was my dream as a child to visit Egypt. I am not rich and it took me many years of saving to pay for this trip. We booked a 12 day tour with Egypt Tour Portal. Their itinerary sounded so good. What a disappointment when we got there. Day 1 was supposed to show us the light show at the pyramids. According to ETP the show was cancelled by the ministry of Tourism. Fellow travelers told me how they enjoyed the show on October 9th and 10th. Instead they carted us straight from the airport to a Nile river dinner cruise, that was not part of the itinerary.
One of the stated attractions was a desert tour on quads. The description was: Enjoy an epic adventure with a guided safari tour. Cross the mighty sand dunes by quad bike, explore the mystery of a traditional Bedouin village and know about their life and traditions and witness the amazing sunset view with a BBQ dinner and enjoy watching the stars on your drive back.

What we got was a 3 hour drive on quad bikes to a tourist setup in a flat desert. No sand dunes, no Bedouin village, no BBQ, no nighttime stars in the dessert. Egypt Tour Portal replied that the posted tour would have cost a lot more. Nowhere on the post does it tell you this is an extra charge
The website also states that the 12 day tour starts at $1240. We paid more than twice that amount per person.
My itinerary states that this is a private tour, which it was until we boarded the Nile cruise ship. From there on we where in a group of about 10 people and travelled to our destinations by bus. The Nile river cruise ship is supposed to be a 5 star ship. It may have been 5 stars about ten years ago, but now it is just old, dingy and tired looking.

While I enjoyed the country and it's amazing treasures I cannot in good conscience recommend anyone to book with this company promising one thing and then do not deliver.

We (my girlfriend and I) did a 3 day custom Egypt tour with Reham (Excellent guide). Our tour included the Great Pyramids and the pyramids in Sakkara, a tour of Cairo including Old Cairo, Egyptian Museum, the hanging church, and a trip to Alexandria!

We had a private van the entire trip, both Reham and our driver Badg were professional and punctual which was great and they made us feel welcome throughout our trip. Reham was excellent as she answered all of our questions throughout the trip, she knew a ton about ancient history and Egyptian culture. She also was very open to sharing her takes on modern Egypt which was cool.

The food that we got throughout the tour was also really good, although drinks are extra (but only about 30 Egyptian pounds).

Also, Egypt Tours Portal was very prompt and professional in answering all of our questions leading up to the tour, in addition to organizing the entire trip.

Overall, we would recommend this tour!

My wife and I took the 7 Days Cairo & Upper Egypt Overland Tour. Mamhood in Cairo and Omar in Aswan and Luxor were excellent and so knowledgeable. The package included domestic flights, but all tours had a private driver and tour guide in a modern, air conditioned SUV. We made all the must see stops along the Nile and stayed in 5-star accommodations. For a private tour, we found it both safe and very affordable with plenty of time to relax between adventures. We recommend requesting the Movenpick in Aswan to enjoy the free boat shuttle to/from the island and breathtaking views. We felt safe even in Coronavirus times everywhere we went. Our drivers and guides wore masks, as did we. The usual crowds were absent, and we had pyramids in Giza and the temples around Aswan and Luxor virtually to ourselves. We highly recommend Egypt Tours Portal and suggest you actually utilize this time to book a trip of a lifetime with no lines, personalized service, and virtually private viewing of all the ancient sites you've seen only on tv and in history books.

The overall experience was excellent. Our guide Samar, she was excellent and professional. Our driver, very polite and punctual. Great customer service. I had one requirement with Samar, and that was 'no shopping'. This only takes time away from our experience and if you are not honest with your tour guide up front you could end up in a stressful shopping stop that has nothing to do with your trip. Avoid shopping with tours at all costs. With Samar, this was not an issue. She was experienced, knowledgeable, concerned about our visit to be sure we had the very best experience. My wife began to catch a cold, Samar started the next day with some throat drops to be sure the day would be off to a good start. The boat ride on the private trip to banana island was very fun as she took us to a great place to eat lunch that day.

Here is what you need to know if planning an overnight from Cairo.
The flight out is very early. You will be at the airport by 3am.
When you arrive around 5:30 am you will go to the first temple during sunrise. It was breath taking. You hit the ground running as they say.
Check in to hotel. Samar worked out with the hotel to get us early check in. Outstanding, because we were so tired. Later that day we went to another Temple, very good experience and lunch was also very good.
Valley of the Kings, Outstanding, Banana Island boat ride on the Nile, outstanding. Samar made this trip extra special along with her driver.
Thank you

Mohamed-Elshemei was our Egyptologist tour guide for the Giza and Cairo portion of our epic six-day long tour across Egypt. Our journey began with a warm and friendly welcome from Elshemei and our charming driver (also named Mohamed) at the Cairo airport. My husband and I got a preview of Egyptian hospitality at its finest and Elshemei’s deep knowledge of the subject matter during our airport transfer to our fabulous hotel (Marriott Mena House). It was an excellent kickoff to our adventure.

Our Giza and Cairo itinerary included a sound and light show at the Giza Pyramids the evening that we arrived. The next day we visited the Saqqara Step Pyramid, the Giza Pyramids, the Sphinx, and the Valley Temple. On our last full day in Cairo, we visited the Egyptian Museum, the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization, Amr Ibn El-As Mosque, The Hanging Church, and Ben Ezra Synagogue.

Elshemei’s passion for Egyptian history made our tours so enjoyable. When he wasn’t storytelling, he was capturing amazing photos of us that we will cherish forever. Elshemei also took us to some reputable shops (e.g.: gold jewelry, essential oils, and papyrus) where my husband and I were able to purchase authentic Egyptian made souvenirs.

To top it off, Elshemei and Egypt Tours Portal were kind enough to arrange PCR tests for our return back to the United States. They handled all of the logistics and made it so easy for us. It was a huge relief for us, especially since traveling during these times can be a bit cumbersome.

I would recommend Egypt Tours Portal based on our exceptional experience with Mohamed Elshemei and the other Egyptologists we met and toured with along our journey (Giza, Aswan–Abu Simbel, Luxor–Valley of the Kings, Cairo). Everyone went above and beyond to make our bucket list trip one for the books.
