I live in Cairo and see what’s of good quality and what’s cheap and imported. This street has a variety of men who stitch. Moustapha of elahmady is very talented. One must bargain. Don’t worry this guy will bring in someone who can translate. A must if you want to buy some real good stitch work. If you tell him Simon recommended he will give u a better deal for sure

This market is not really for haggling because the prices are for the locals. I bought a carpet for 140 egyptian pound thats currently like 9 bucks.
I highly recommend this place, no one is harassing you to see a glass boat or excursion, very quiet compared to khan al khalli market, not quiet at all compared to anything normal.

This area is really nice, it's a long street with shop where all items are hand made, the shop owners are nice, if you continue down this road, there is a nice area where all the locals sell their fresh produce and fruits, it's a chaotic area but nice to walk through and see the daily lives of the people.

One of the oldest bazaars of old Cairo. It specializes in Tent making.not the regular tents it us the art work which adorns the tents. Now they use the designs on different fabrics and for table cloths, cushions, etc.

If you are into walking and seeing natural folklore than this is the place you should be looking for and go to. Lots to see on the way to this market, be it watching the local experts hand work all they do, and visit the various work shops there, if they allow you; as some do not. Lots of things to buy be it for hanging on the walls or for cushion cases etc. Recommended.

small but worth the hike - if you are surrounded by bullet bras and pre-packaged blankets you are not there yet. Keep moving - also there's a great local market stretch that's fun to walk through and buy some Egyptian pretzels and enjoy

Get your uber to drop you off at Zuwayla Gate by the Mosque of Al Salih Talai best I can do. This is an incredible spot to find purses, shoes, rugs, and of course tents. Bring your walking shoes because it is dusty and at the end of the street is where they sell fish, chicken, produce etc and it can get messy. We got some incredible bread sticks for 20LE full bag. It is a must stop if you have time in Cairo.
