Not very grand anymore ,decor very dated , curtains want binning and cleaners need to concentrate on there job and not mess with the towels , my husband glasses were used from his glasses case to decorate one of there towel things not good for a £138 pair of reactalite , we did eleven trips included , at welcome meeting asked to pay £20 pp for tips not including mine our tour guide tells us , it is shared between the staff and drivers of coaches and boats we are using on this seven day all inclusive cruise , if you do not pay immediately you are chased up by him . Still staff are after tips even though they get this when I asked a crew member if he gets his share I was told yes we are a team . Still we felt obliged to still tip waiter bar staff and room boy , we had 32 people in our group which I thought was quite a lot last time on another boat we only had twenty. Sweeteners are nowhere to be seen so take your own , diet Pepsi was available and a few days in this changed to coka cola zero , no kettles in room , free wifi from reception or top deck , but obviously signal is better when docked

Our Group was booked on M/S Royal Ruby for 4D/3N Nile Cruise from Aswan to Luxor. We boarded the Cruise during Lunch time. The Cruise did not sail till the midnight. Day 1 was without any sail. Day 2 - early morning we reached Komombo and visited the Temple. Thereafter the cruise sailed for entire day and night and reached Edfu on Day 3 morning. We visited Edfu Temple and returned to Cruise. By evening the Cruise was already at Luxor. Next Day morning on day 4 we checked out after breakfast. So practically the Boat sailed just for 2 days and one night. Honestly speaking didn't feel the value for money and reported this to the Tour Organizers as well. Talking about the Boat, it was well kept, neat and clean and Rooms, though tiny, were quite comfortable. Food was excellent and they served different varieties for each and every Meal. Oriental evening was good. Staff was very helpful. Fixed Seating was allocated in the Dining space and that was a plus point. Dining Hall Staff was very nice and always helpful with a smile. Overall experience was good - could have been very good.

The rooms: The rooms were very simple with two twin beds that can be pushed together to gain another foot of space. The furniture is bulky and old fashioned but the beds were clean. The bed was so very hard that I woke up with lower back pain almost every morning. The pillow is of the same rock hard texture. The rooms have a safe and a sliding window that cannot be called a French balcony by any means. A water kettle is provided to make your own coffee and tea.

Hot water: The hot water was the biggest problem for me. The shower is incredibly small so when the water turns from normal to boiling without warning and within seconds, you have no space to get out the way to avoid burning yourself. Every single room had that problem.

Food: The food was one big plus on the cruise. I have never tasted fish so tender. The entire your group was happy with the variety and flavor of the buffet. We got breakfast, lunch, and dinner every day on the ship. We were lucky to be on the cruise during New Year's Eve. The crew prepared this extravaganza of a dinner which was very special.

Entertainment: The crew hosts galabaya parties, belly dancer and rolling dervish performances, cocktail hours, coffee and tea time on deck and luckily for us, a New Year's Eve party with dancers and musicians. They really worked hard to entertain us.

Crew: The crew is very pleasant. The room cleaning was okay, we came to expect an interesting towel display after room cleaning every day, we were met with towel elephants, crocodiles, hearts etc. They are very aggressive with cleaning out tables during the buffet. That made us feel rushed.

Deck: the deck has a very small unheated pool and lounge chairs. Fresh towels are provided. It's a nice hangout place when you are sailing as you can see the beautiful landscape pass by. I think there is a bar but I was never really sure because the crew let guests drink our own drinks without the guests making much of an effort hiding them.

Actual cruising: Please note that you are not actually cruising that much, and definitely not at night. The actual sailing is only a few hours each time. You will be guaranteed to wake up to the sight of another ship docking right next to you so that's not what we expected. It doesn't matter which floor you are on, even on the third floor you will be looking straight into the room of another ship.

We were on the Emilio boat for seven days.
Trip prices are written in euro converted to us dollars put through on credit card giving a fairy tale rate to "protect the company for 40 days"! The double exchange rate is dodgy but the guy also added the tips without permission at the beginning on the trip to those he could bully, sold the credit card slips to get cash through a local jeweler, also dodgy. Tips are not compulsory, they are earned, this charge should be in the most of the holiday it's not obligatory

We booked a Cruise and stay with Fleetway Travel.
First 3 nights we stayed in Hurghurda at Gravity hotel then got up at 3am for 3.5 hour journey to Luxor to board HM Dolphin. You had to walk through other cruise ships before getting to ours. There was an awful smell in and around the boats which we later learned was from toxic fuel.
The cabins were shabby and dirty. Grey towels and grey net curtains. Mattresses were stained and beds very hard. You had to keep the curtains closed as boats were docked next to each other so you could see straight into neighbouring boats rooms and they could also see into ours. Our dreams of having good views across the nile were quickly disappearing.
Food on board was bland, repetitive and boring. We all went to McDonalds (something I wouldn't ordinarily do). No drinks were given ..not even water with meals...we were forced to purchase if we didnt want to dehydrate.
The pool area on top deck had artificial grass. If you walked on it your feet would be black from the soot from the fumes.
Several of us got ill suffering from diarrhoea, sickness headaches and shortness of breath and were confined to our rooms.
I noticed that towels were re-used without being washed, folded for the next day.
Our cruise docked at Atwan for 3 days...hardly cruising just docked at port.some of the trips which were booked in advance were cancelled and those which went ahead were very early in the morning, many approximately 5am departure time.
We met some wonderful people on board which made our holiday but apart from that were very disappointed.

wasted my holiday, the wrong choice. seems a very old cruise ship with poor maintenance. water just warm not hot at all, poor water pressure sometimes water stops when you are taking the shower, no heating when the cabin is cold especially during the nights. Poor TV signal only 4-5 channels are available mostly Arabic . when the cruise is sailing no TV signal at all. one of the reception staff seemed rude. average food, all the time the same. poor entertainment, still, as soon as you arrive requesting a £27 per person tip for 7 days stay with such a poor service. seems they all just thinking of money than good and standard service. On any arranged trip to visit the temples, you get to other shops by the tour guide for marketing purposes like perfume, clothe, the statue, etc. where not any of the items are priced with unreasonable prices. for example min of £30 for 100mm unknown perfume. if going for shopping, as soon as they realise you are a tourist very likely to be overcharged very unfairly, for example, £3 for a bottle of water. we met some nice and friendly local people and staff but in general not a good experience, probably never ever again. very disappointed

My husband and I booked a vacation package through CHIK vacations that included a 4 night cruise on the Nile. The agency never gave us the name of the boat which seemed strange. When we arrived and boarded we were appalled by what we saw. We had hired and paid for a category called "Grand Luxury" and this couldnt be far from it. The boat was not only old but seemed unsafe as it was poorly maintained and dirty. Rugs were filthy and definitely not soft (full of hard stains which was gross). The personel on the boat was not trained to handle visitors resulting in very bad attention. I dont even want to think again in the food. I took a chance and sneaked into the kitchen and it was out of a horror movie. I highly encourage anyone to take another boat and if traveling with another agency to know what you are paying for in advance.

We took the four-day/three-night Nile River cruise from Aswan to Luxor aboard the Sonesta Moon Princess, which is categorized as an "ultra-luxury" ship. The ship is very nice and has what I believe to be an itinerary very similar to most of the other 400 Nile cruise ships going from Aswan to Luxor. We chose the Moon Goddess because it is one of the few Nile cruise ships that has cabins with a balcony, however small that balcony may be. Our cabin (typically small as on most Nile cruise ships) on the 4th deck, the food, the decor, and the service were all very good. There was some Nubian entertainment one evening before dinner and a belly dancer and whirling dervish dancer another evening.

As is typical, the ship ties up alongside other ships, sometimes four deep, at the limited docking space, at night and cruises during part of the two full days, so while docked your view might be of another ship just a very few feet away. The scenery is lovely along much of the route and we spent most of our cruising time on the top deck, which has a sunny pool area with lounge chairs and a shaded area with tables and chairs. The ship has a very small shop, a spa where you can get a massage, and a couple of exercise machines.

We had booked a private guide through our tour company and he stayed on the ship the entire time except when taking us on tours at all of the stops. Many other ships have the same itinerary and are at the same stops as the Moon Goddess, so our tour sights were usually quite crowded.

We enjoyed the cruise and I recommend the Sonesta Moon Goddess.

My daughter and I spent 4 day, 3 night sailing the Nile on the MS Nile Premium from Aswan to Luxor. This was booked through Intrepid. Our tour guide mentioned that this boat was supposed to be one of the best………! We had a comfortable cabin (twin beds and bathroom), a little outdated, old and could have done with extra cleaning. The toilet was blocked when we checked in but was fixed once it was mentioned. The top deck had a small pool with deck chairs. Even though there weren’t many tourists all boats where still on the move at the same time. They dock in the same area and moored alongside each so a view out the cabin window is non-existent. All the boats are powered with diesel and unfortunately, fresh air was also non-existent. The lavish breakfast and buffet were however excellent.
There was a jewellery shop (Nubia Jewels) onboard the boat and our tour guide mentioned that this was a government shop so we would be safe to buy however; I do not recommend. Three other couples from the tour, including ourselves, bought some jewellery from this shop and had major issues when picking up the jewellery from over charge, not what we ordered and a bank charge of 3.75% on top of the purchase. The latter was not mentioned at the time. We could have got the same jewellery at half the price from a Government Shop in Sonesta St George Hotel. I did complain the but no one wanted to know.
We had excursions to many spectacular sights including the local markets and villages. Even though the boats are old we both had a great time and was an experience we will never forget.

Travelled on the Royal Viking 17th to 24th of Feb Luxor to Aswan and return. Reception was very good and registration straightforward. This was aided by the meeting point rep who was also our guide for the week. As an early arrival my cabin wasn't quite ready but I went up to the sundeck and had a coffee which was included in my all inclusive drinks and tours package. My cabin was spacious and as I learnt later was the same as everyone else. The boat was quite dated but clean. The lounge bar and restaurant were adequate for the number of passengers. The food was ok nothing special but there was always something you could find to eat. There were very few Brits on board and weren't really catered for. The highlights of the cruise were the tours, everyone spectacular. The tour guide we had was Tarek Amid and I cannot praise him enough both for his knowledge and enthusiasm about egyptology but for his immense patience with our group of seniors. I had paid for my all inclusive deal with my travel agent which was ok on the tours side but my advise would be not to include drinks. Because every day was an early start the bar was mostly empty by 10 -10.30. The absolute must is the optional trip to Abu Simbal a bit expensive but totally worth it
