This was such a great cooking class! Our teacher / guide (Min Seon Kim) was the NICEST person, and walked us through the various markets around the area, stopping and spending time to explain the various fruits, vegetables, meats and everything in between.
We got picked up right on time at the Jegidong subway station exit #2 on the street level and went on our way.
We started at the market for about half hour then headed to the culinary studio. We spent the most time at the Gyeongdong Market / 경동시장 where a lot of Korean Michelin chefs buy their ingredients. We also visited the Seoul Medicine Market and a Gyeongdong Market 경동시장 market on the way to the class so be prepared to walk a little bit.
Everything at the studio was super new because they had just opened the new studio location the week before. It helped that they keep things to a small group our group was 5 people) rather than a 30-40 person group because we got to ask questions and also get a lot of photos.
Let me just say the chef was the nicest person ever! She not only explained everything step by step, but provided background on the historical and cultural relevance of everything we ate. She even tailored the menu to the foods we (and others in our group) liked.
She was really helpful and took a bunch of photos, and we also got a cookbook with the recipes we made and more Korean food that we could try on our own at home. She also had recommendations in Seoul for where people could try food they liked that was tailored to their preferences. For example, we got a fun bar recommendation and another group got recommendations for a pork belly KBBQ restaurant another that specialized in beef.
This is a tour I'd recommend to anyone who wants to learn about the ingredients, food, and how to prepare all of it. Such a great time!!!

This was an awesome experience and a delicious meal! We walked around the traditional Korean market and picked out a few ingredients that we used later to cook our meal! The cooking experience was great, and the chef/people were so nice! Totally recommend this to whoever loves food and a good time!

Wonderful cooking class experience! Our host walked us through the market and introduced us to all kinds of different foods. Her cooking studio was just a short walk from the market. The studio was very nicely equipped to cook all kinds of different dishes. My favorite was learning how to make kimchi. At the end of the cooking session we had a lovely lunch. I learned so much and would love to take another cooking class!

Minseon is such a great host. She’s so kind and patient with everyone and is willing to ask any of your questions. The class is in a small traditional house. It feels so much cozier than if you were in a commercial building. The food we made was so good and we all got to eat together at the end of it.
