The area

Neighborhood: Gangnam / Nonhyeon / Yeoksam
If you thought business and fun couldn’t mix, look no further than urban Gangnam and the nearby neighborhoods. On the surface, Gangnam comes off as a strictly business district with a plethora of high-rise office buildings jutting into the sky and the steady streams of office workers bustling about. But interlaced within are a string of shops, restaurants, bars, and other spots for entertainment. If Myeongdong is the generic meet-up and hangout spot north of the Han River, Gangnam is its answer for those on the south side. As evening comes, Gangnam comes alive with its countless neon lights attracting hordes of office workers, friends, and couples for food, drinks, perhaps a bit of singing at a noraebang, and more drinks. And the smattering of clubs around also draws plenty of folks looking to unwind and show off their moves on the dance floor. On weekends, the crowds gets bigger, the energy buzzes to a seemingly nonstop high, and Gangnam makes it clear why so many call Seoul the city that never sleeps.

We were exploring the Gangnam area when we stumble into this Samsung d'lite exhibition storefront. We did not know what to expect and thought perhaps it was a retail store for all Samsung products. For sure there is an level that does sell retail current electronic devices but it is much more than that. This building highlights Samsung's latest technologies and is a global exhibition place that exhibits the latest product lineups. Where else can you try the latest in Samsung products and experience interactive devices. It was very much an educational experience to learn about the production of products and to view future product developments. You can easily spend two hours there and the best of all is that it is free!

I visited Samsung D’light Exhibition Space a few weeks ago, This free of charge space showcases not only the latest products but it is designed as an experience center where through innovative technology you can test how your world is or can be impacted by your feelings and emotions. Through various personal choices, movements, colors, shapes, and intellect you can determine and creat your world while understanding the correlation of technology, innovation and human perception. You can even take part in their free of charge VR experience. I had so much fun here and would recommend this experimental space to others if you are visiting Gangnam/Samsung Town.

You don't have to be a user or avid supporter of Samsung to enjoy a quick trip around Samsung's showcase of the future of technology.

Start off at the ground floor where use of NFC tech on a wristband allows you to interact with the displays that tell you more about how you view yourself and the way you think.

Go on up to the first floor to see in what ways technology may eventually be integrated into homes (I can see it working in offices as well) of the future. It's simultaneously interesting and yet scary to realize how much humans will rely on technology in the future.

If you're not into Samsung goods, you can end your tour here. Otherwise, head back down to the basement which is essentially a big Samsung shop where you can get the latest phone and accessories.

Unless you happen to be there at the same time as school children or office workers lunch hour, you basically have free run of everything to yourself.

This places is brilliant. You have your photo taken and it’s put on the wall, then you get given a wristband with your photo inside it.. you then move to different areas and scan your wristband to play that particular area, could be changing your picture, making a planet etc.... if your in the area go and try it

Fridges, Washington machines and cooktops of the future are all here on display, together mith massive tvs, all showing what it will be like in the future. For me the massive washing machine, which does everything auto a tic, except putting the washing in.It.determines the fabric, the water temperature, the washing powder etc. and sms you when it is finished

We heard about Samsung d'light from a family member. An easy place to find and get to. Just get out at Gangnam metro station and head towards exit 8. The retail-exposition type experience has a retail shop on the ground floor, an interactive experience on the first floor and a showcase of living technology on the 2nd floor. It's designed to give us a look at the near future at home, at school and in the workplace. Unfortunately, we arrived at the same time as about 2 dozen local schoolchildren who monopolised the VR headsets and other interactive displays. Staff members were not that helpful apart from the ladies who initially greeted us showing us how to access the interactive area. Other staff completely ignored us when we tried to access the VR gear. Perhaps it's simply luck of the draw.

It was very easy to get to the building (2min from Gangnam station) and the exhibition is large covering three floors.
On the first floor they have phones, laptops, and tablets you can play with. They also have a 4D VR experience which is amazing and a must. The rest is all kinds of electronics from fridges and vacuums to prototypes of massage chairs (yes, you can try them) and facial masks.
On the second floor they have an interactive exhibit about emotions and machine learning - you can register a bracelet and go around the various stations receiving a report about your preferences and emotional state at the end. They have other VR stations here too.
The third floor was the most interesting for me - it was the home of the future where Samsung showcases their vision of how machines will ease our lives and integrate with our homes.

We spent about 1.5hrs there (40min just on the massage chairs). Definitely worth the trip.
