My partner and I had such a fun time learning about and cooking up our favourite Korean dishes! One of my favourite memories of visiting Korea and would recommend to anyone. It's a relaxed atmosphere where you'll cook and chat and learn some tips on on chosen dishes. You will be well looked after.

Not being a fan of kimchi, I was sceptical of a kimchi cooking class but I needn’t have been. Ellie was a wonderful teacher and incredibly informative about the variety of different kimchi’s which suit every pallet.

Whilst the kimchi was a excellent, the highlight was undoubtedly the bulgogi, flavoursome and succulent. And top it off, it’s made with ingredients easily sourced at home.

Would definitely recommend for any Korean foodie fans!

Absolutely fantastic 2 hours making Mandu from scratch with Ellie. Wonderful teaching and delicious results! Totally recommend this activity with this teacher. Excellent end to our Korean holiday and I would book again to cook something else if we had time. Very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable indeed

Had a great time learning to cook Korean dishes with Ellie. Class is very well organized and efficiently executed so I was able to do six dishes in an afternoon (private class). Ellie is very friendly and informative. Strongly recommended for anyone interested to learn about Korean foods.

I went with my family (my sister and I were well into our careers as professionals and my parents wanted to do trips as a family) and we were delighted at the insights that Ellie provided our family about the stories and tips behind the Korean food we enjoy at home as well as advice on making the dishes ourselves. There is much more than only the ingredients list and basic instructions and she cooks along side with you showing you nuanced things along the way. We learned how to cook 3 dishes a piece and she went through everything with us and it was a thoroughly enjoyable experience. We weren't rushed at all (we actually ended up spending almost 6 hours there all in all) and it was a very friendly experience. I wish her all the luck in her move (she had mentioned she's planning on moving locations soon) and am defiantly going to come back if I'm in the area again.

We had a fabulous time learning to cook today! The teachers were fantastic and made us feel at ease. We loved the entire event. We were also celebrating our 10 year anniversary so they made it extra special for us. I would definitely recommend anyone do this experience - come hungry!!!

Ellie and the team at Food and Culture Academy are SO amazing!! I must have changed our group details a million times and they were so quick and accommodating!! Then when we got here today, we were blown away by their friendliness and how easy they could translate their great knowledge of Korean food! Our group did bibimbap and Korean pancakes (both seafood and kimchi) which were both DELICIOUS!! Definitely recommend! 🙂💗🇰🇷

We went to this cooking school for a company team building and we loved it! We are all international people and we were paired in couples to prepare two dishes. One is bulgogi and then we did bibimbpap.

We had a lot of fun, it was so engaging and the staff is professional yet fun.

If you are in Seoul and you aim at trying traditional food that you can prepare yourself, then come here. We really loved the activity :)

I booked two classes with this organization based on the spectacular reviews I found here. My partner and I are experienced cooks and opted for the hands on classes. We arrived 5 minutes late because the building was difficult to locate and the pictures in the directions were taken from the opposite side of the building for our approach (we took the subway). When we finally did find the building, we were whisked back to the cooking stations and placed our bags down next to the storage shelves.

Our first lesson was three types of banchan which was taught by Jay. Jay was really kind. Her English is great. Her lesson, however, was mostly reading the recipes straight off the page with little by way of insight to dish preparation. Frankly, I found this highly disappointing as I can pick up a cookbook or recipe myself. Throughout our class, missing ingredients were discovered and we had to pause our lesson multiple times while the ingredients were gathered.

Our second lesson was for mandu. Jay again read off the ingredients to us. Ellie then came over to instruct is in the art of molding mandu. She actually spent more time showing Jay how to do this than us. She stopped several times to check her cell phone also which made us feel like we were interrupting something more important. To compound matters, and this is cultural, I get it, she told me several times that my mandu were "ugly." And no, not in a cute way, she sounded almost disgusted by my failure to create attractive dumplings. Really?!? Accomplished cook, yes. Food porn obsessed, no. Sorry they weren't up to par.

As for price, way too expensive for the type of experience. If we had spent that much for classes here in the states, we would have actually learned something or else we wouldn't have paid! Im actually cutting this short since I'm getting mad writing this and am failing to articulate everything in our experience adequately. Do yourself a favor and spend the money on a cookbook instead.

First of all, thank you very much for your strict opinion and review on us, and really apologised how you felt you were treated badly in our cooking class. This is Ellie writing back to you and I don't normally say such harsh things to customers however you felt really uncomfotable and angry with what I said "ugly', my big apologies. Please feel free to let us know more if you need things to say. Again, we fully apologise for your unsatisfied cooking class.

We had a great time cooking with Chef Ellie. Our class in English was fun and informative with easy to follow instruction. She had everything ready to start when we arrived and immediately put us ease. We made Japchae which turned into our delicious lunch. Would highly recommend this activity when visiting Seoul. Would be appropriate for all ages.
